I get it, your pollution is cool/acceptable. Smokers pollution is unacceptable and they should be banished from existence by the mob because they and you "don't like it". Typical hypocrite.

My father smoked cigars every day most of his adult life.My mother who never smoked died from lung cancer.

The wife of one of my friends smoked cigarettes for more than 40 years. My friend who never smoked died from lung cancer.

Another friend who never smoked but her husband did died from lung cancer.

There is so much evidence of how harmful smoking is .I cannot understand intelligent people not understanding this.

What's not to understand? Life is full of choices. Everything causes cancer, from food, exhaust, medicines, pesticides, pollution, radon gas from basements, on and on. Alcohol is another big cancer risk. You can't eliminate risk. Most folks don't smoke in their homes and it has been severely restricted indoors in many states. Casinos are one of the last places where one can enjoy tobacco products indoors. Leave them folks to enjoy themselves and take your boot off their throats.

Did you read all my posts ? I said that if people wish to kill themselves that is their right.

So you actively participate, even throw in your own personal angle, then drop your chosen field (explains a lot actually..lol), and then try and throw a flag to shut down opposing opinions that you invited by bringing in your personal hangups to a discussion on smoking and cruising? Doesn't  make a lot of sense.

Sorry,I do not understand one word of the above.

Separation would not be bad but don't count on it. One issue I see is if smoking is continued, everyone will be posting on social media that they, or others on the ship are coughing. Then everyone will have to get tested that appears sick. The media will love it- they hate cruise ships.

I agree with this. I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke and even driving and stopping at a red light, if the car around me has a smoker with a window down, I will start coughing and having a pounding headache within seconds.  The same is true in areas adjacent to the casino. I try to avoid having to walk through a casino to get where I am going, but sometimes it is unavoidable. I am sure I will be looked at with suspicious eyes as I have my coughing attacks.  Not to mention that I love to play the slots and have not been able to in years. Rant over.

Anecdotally, it actually sounds like nicotine was somehow protective. It wouldn't be the first time. Nicotine has many therapeutic properties. It is thought that it even protects against covid infections by competing for the same receptors. Some blood pressure meds do as well. Hot smoke for your lungs isn't good but nicotine isn't bad either. Patches, pills, gum, and vape products are good alternatives for nicotine delivery. I think nicotine will be used in many more medications in the near future. It has tremendous potential, much like marijuana, but hasn't been studied enough because it's been vilified for so long. Native Americans may have been on to something.

I have also read this.

Perfect. Then you don't need to smoke to get your nicotine fix while indoors or even outdoors, but this thread is about smoking in the casino. And we don't have to smell the stench from your cigarettes. Win for both sides.

Just as long as it’s outdoors.

The problem with this line of thinking is where does it end? I'll tell you that the antis won't stop there. Here in CA we did just that, no smoking anywhere inside (except Indian casinos), huge concession, guess what happened next? Now you can't even smoke outside. Yes, even in bars and other places where a lot of people smoke. Used to be able to smoke in the patios at pubs and such but now, since the antis still weren't happy, you have empty patios with people standing in large groups 100 ft in the street or parking lots out back, going back and forth to have a drink of their beer and having a smoke to enjoy with it. A lot of people here in CA only smoke when they drink and many of the bars/pubs didn't want this BS but it was crammed down their throats. Are the antis happy? Nope, still want more restrictions.

Vaping is under attack now too. Antis were mad that smokers found away around their BS and were happily enjoying nicotine inside again with no bad smells or combustible smoke. They have nothing to complain about but simply seeing someone enjoying a nicotine product offended their delicate sensibilities and they wen't on the attack again. Luckily one can stealth vape with nicotine salts almost anywhere undetected but now they are still attacking mail order and trying to get it reclassified as a cigarette. It never stops, they're never happy.

BS. We know when someone is vaping.

BS, you know when someone is cloud chucking, not all vaping is cloud chucking. There are very low output options where there is hardly any vapor production at all. You simply don't know what you're talking about.

Are you saying you would "stealth vape" in non smoking areas on a ship?

Probably could be said for both sides.

Not really, when have antis ever gave any ground? When it's only one side giving concessions and the other looking to lean in on the boot on your neck, it's hardly comparable. One side doesn't want the other to exist, it's an annihilation effort, not a negotiation of terms. Never negotiate with terrorists!

You are equating those who disagree with you as terrorists ?

What a control freak, are you saying you will virtual signal and manufacture outrage at the mere thought of someone having the possibility to do something you disapprove of. Good grief, give me a break. You nicotine natsies sure are a sensitive and vindictive bunch.

Then forgive me if I don't care about your bellyaching. Stay home if you're so sensitive.

I would say there are far more non smokers onboard than smokers. Each year the number of smokers is decreasing and will continue to do so.

I believe the majority is on my side. I could care less if you don’t have a place to smoke and vaping is not permitted on the ship. Good way to get kicked off the ship.

Others are listening to the music. Dropped to 13% in 2018. Youth trend is way down as well. Once it drops below 10%, smokers will be statistically insignificant and likely all smoking will be banned.

Added in is the fact that those who cruise tend to be more educated than the general population and the more educated are statistically less likely to smoke.

Back in Mid 90’s, the company I worked for was based out of Louisville Colorado. Due to rising medical costs (self funded plan),  they banned ALL smoking on campus and that included the remote business locations, including the parking lots. Smokers began paying nearly double the premium for both medical insurance and life insurance. It didn’t take long for most of the 18,000 employees to mostly quit. I had service techs and they were not permitted to smoke on customer property either. Myself and a bunch of my friends all quit during this time.
