Rare momin05 Posted June 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2021 I thought we had a great location on Horizon in August, but just noticed our 3 cabins on deck 6 are over the piano bar. Has anyone had a cabin here and if so, is noise an issue? Thanks in advance.
ScottsSweetie Posted June 30, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2021 I had a guarantee assigned over the piano bar on the Sunshine. It was never really an issue for us, but we are usually out and/or up until midnight - 1:00am or so.
amcankid Posted June 30, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2021 We never have had a cabin above the piano bar, but honestly if I liked the cabin and the deck I wouldn’t let that be a deal breaker. You might hear some muffled sounds through the floor, but it’s not the same as having a few hundred folks directly below you. At any given time it’s usually 30 to 50 max. sanmarcosman Posted June 30, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Never a problem to be above the piano bar on 3 Spirit Class ships.
Rare momin05 Posted June 30, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Thank you all so much. I feel better. I do like the location so I think I will stick with it.
serene56 Posted June 30, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Piano Bar can get hopping until the wee hours. Really depends on the player. Some are better then others. IF you are on a sailing with a good player-- and gets everyone involved that will be loud with people singing etc
james_9168 Posted June 30, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Just my opinion, but I wouldn't book a cabin above or below any bar / night club / casino, ect... Then again, I don't really stay out very late, but I would still hate to have to deal with noise on my long awaited for vacation.
Rare momin05 Posted June 30, 2021 Author #8 Share Posted June 30, 2021 I agree there is some risk. The first hand experience from someone above does help. Thank you all for your thoughts. If anyone has stayed in a room above the piano bar, I would love to hear your experience.
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted June 30, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Many years ago, a young man named Billy Joel had a small room over the piano bar...
cruiseracer Posted June 30, 2021 #10 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Sounds like an awesome location. Drop a request down the floor vent. Sweet Caroline is a great one! 😊
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 1, 2021 #11 Share Posted July 1, 2021 We had a cabin above the Golden Bar on MSC Divina. It wasn’t annoying, but sort of a game figuring out from the bass what the song was. EM
jas1178 Posted July 1, 2021 #12 Share Posted July 1, 2021 We had a cabin with an AC failure years ago and the only free room was a balcony above, but the purser warned us that noise was an issue. We napped during the day, and at night my little kids learned SWEET CAROLINE....:-)

I imagine if a cabin was situated directly above or below the piano itself there may be some sound heard. The piano wasn't underneath us but the tables and banquette seating were and not a peep on three sailings.
