EDGE July 31

As previously mentioned, the cruise boarding started off a disaster. We arrived at Park n Go at 2:22. It’s only a five minute drive and we saw the long line stretched around the building. We arrived onboard shortly after 4:30 although some people waited up to 4 hours.

That’s past us and I’m starting this new thread.

This is only my second Celebrity cruise. I’m diamond on Royal. I was able to upgrade the surf to stream for $88. That’s a 30% discount.

How did I arrive in deciding this cruise? June 5 is my mom’s birthday. We went to dinner the night before at a steak house. I thought I needed another gift. 😀

I had been reading cruise critic and called the TA later that morning to book. My mom was overjoyed.

With only one Celebrity cruise prior, we were impressed with the prior service and product. I booked the Edge based on it meeting our timeframe, ship quality, and past reviews.

Thanks for posting this positive upbeat live report.   I hope you and your Mother have a wonderful cruise.

I'm pulling up a stool and look forward to hear of all the fun you are having aboard.

Following along. I did Millennium 20 years ago. . . weeks after 9/11 in fact. My only Celebrity cruise thus far but Edge is quite a thing of beauty.  That accessible balcony cabin is wonderful, the additional size moving almost into Jr. suite type territory. Enjoy and thanks for bringing us.

My brother the artist in the family designed the shirts. We have 2 types.

Ahhh...... I was thinking it was a gift from Celebrity and was looking forward to getting one.  Maybe he should put them on sale.

My brother has a FB page. I’ve never seen it. I got inside connection. Thank you for the compliment

To those in the previously closed thread who asked me about my previous back to back cruise where I said I didn’t have to get off the ship. That was in Fort Lauderdale, last year. Went to the sky lounge for all the processing, never de-boarded the ship.

Around the ship….

I was surprised to see few people eating at Fine Cut tonight. We’re used to Chops on Royal which is very popular. Perhaps it’s due to the reduced capacity.

We had reservations for 6 pm. Entrees arrived at 7:15. Service was slow however excellent. My mom asked if there is only one chef. 😀

I’m not complaining about the slow service on board or at home.

Mom moved in with me in March. Her former place with steps became challenging to navigate. She does all the cooking and the dishes too. I’m not going to complain when the food is good. It was worth the wait and we were chatting.

MASKS

@KKBwas on last week and is sailing b2b. See mentioned only few crew had on masks.

This sailing all crew are masks. Many of the crew are wearing double masks. I think with the events last week, the mask wearing will vary. Please let’s not turn this thread into a mask debate. I have accepted that our lives prior to March 2020 may never be the same.

We are also onboard. I don’t want to hijack Tee’s thread but a few observations, excluding the boarding process.

We are in a SS with the bed facing the ocean. Luminae was pretty full this evening. We are at 7. Have the same waiter we had on Equinox in January 2020. He is very glad to see people back!
Casino is very full, no such thing as any distancing, all slot machines  available. Sitting on deck 4 right now and Martini Bar is about half full, no one at Cafe Al Bacio, although there is a comedian on the theatre at 9:30. For those interested, here are a few cabin pictures:
