As long as you have a copy of your PCR positive test and get a letter of recovery from your Health Care Provider that will be accepted to board in lieu of getting a pre-boarding test.  As long as your PCR Test is between 11-90 days before the cruise.

So you don't have to set up an appointment time to take the test?  Just scan the QR code on the box and follow the instructions?

NO, you do not open the box or do anything until you are connected online to a proctor . They will then step you through the process. Takes about 20 minutes per person and you'll get the verbal yes or no right then and the email a short while later.

I know that Royal is not the same is Celebrity, but I was helping someone else prepare for a Royal Alaska cruise with a pre-cruise tour and learned from that the passenger is required to secure and test before the tour and at the end of the tour at his/her own expense.

We have a post-cruise Celebrity tour, and I cannot find anything on their website concerning testing at the end of the cruise prior to our tour or anything about testing for post-cruise tour passengers. I know that Celebrity had been providing testing for B2B passengers on board and hoped that they would do the same for post-cruise tour passengers. However, I understand that the tours booked through Celebrity are supplied and staffed by separate companies.

Has anyone purchased this here in the USA, then taken to Italy, then taken the test? How did it go?

I have not, but in my research I found cheaper prices if you order on line. Amazon is back ordered until 5/18. Walmart has them. They should work fine if you can get the internet you need.

Thank you! That's my concern, the internet. Was hoping someone has taken these to Rome and completed. My other option is to walk 5 mnts to the local pharmacy and get tested in Rome. Trying to decide what the best option is.

We did last fall in connection with a trip to Italy that included both a land tour and an ocean cruise. They worked fine for us, except that the particular hotel we were in in Venice had very poor WiFi. It still worked fine for us, but it could have been a problem. If you are in a major hotel chain, such as Marriott, I think the Wi-Fi would be better.

Just be sure that you have the Rx version (with video supervision).  The similar test you can buy in a pharmacy is marked OTC and is not supervised, and thus is not accepted by Celebrity or by airlines.

We have Abbott Binax Now proctored tests with expiration date of Nov 8, 2021.  I checked with the Optum Stire and e/med and have letters from them stating that the expiration date has been extended 6 months -so new expiration is May 8, 2022.

I also had them check the lot number. I hope this is correct. I plan to use them this week. I do have a newer test ad well. Check with e/med.

Did you use these tests successfully?  Have the same ones and will use on Sunday, 5/1.  Hopefully the people online won't say they're expired like they did to another person that posted.

The expire date is on the box.

Yes, we know that... ours was one of the old expiration dates that was extended and we, as well as luv4cruises, had an email exchange with eMed saying that the expiration date was indeed extended to 5/8/22... unlike another poster who said that she had the same one we do and when she called to take the test was told that it was expired.  luv4cruises was going to take their test this past week, so I wanted to find out if they were told theirs was expired.

I just noticed that the company iHealth (manufacturers of many of the free test kits sent out to US homes) offers an on-line monitoring to go with the tests that many of us already have. The website says their results are accepted for return travel to the US, and it’s only $21.99. Has anyone seen and/or used this?

Gotcha.

There are several pharmacies in Ravenna that offer testing but would rather use the Emed Binax kit. Are we sure these can be used to get on a cruise ship in Italy? ???? The wording is so confusing on the  RCCL web site. I have been on hold for 2 hours to ask this question. Since Italy has no test requirements to enter the country, I assume we only need to satisfy Royal Carribean.

Yes you can definitely use the emed to board the ship and you need one to get back to the US (as of now)

@Dave&Robin - I tried to post this, and the post disappeared.  So apologies if this ends up showing up twice.

See this thread and this thread.

I now have a Certificate of Recovery, and a positive PCR within 11-90 days before my upcoming cruise next week.  I will try to remember to come back and update you on how this works out.

My husband had a slight cold for 3 days, right after returning from the Allure but thought he thought he only had a cold. We tested next day for Symphony. He was positve! So we had to cancel.  Before the next cruise 2 weeks later, our DR told him to rinse each day with an over the counter saline solution to get the covid residue out of him! It worked, he tested negative for our next cruise. (He did a home test 2 days before & that still showed positive(not sure if they are as accurate as a testing center) If we werent going on a cruise, he wouldnt have tested for a "cold" & wouldnt have know he had covid! He probably got it in the casino while at the tables. I never got it.
