Thanks for posting!

I agree, it is very reassuring to see it 'in writing'🧐

We will be on our first cruise after 22 months in 10 days.....and still Ruby!

I do hope that they will extend another year after 3/31/22, but for now it works.

Thanks! Very cool! I may book another cruise before April now.

@Sand and Seashave a wonderful cruise! It's magical to be back out on the ocean again. Have fun!

Thank you!   Yes, we are so excited after all of those cancelled cruises.

We thought our first cruise back would be on the Joy in October.   Now going on the Breakaway first , then Getaway in January☺️

Wow, you learn something new every day!  I never knew you could check your tier levels by inserting your card.  I always went to the desk to ask about tiers.  I always saw my points, but never my tier level.

Is this something new or have I just never noticed it?

Pic is from the slot screen on a slot machine on NCL Gem this month.

closest thing i have in writing that the earning period is to 3/31/22.

Thanks, but I'm not sure how this a good thing?  NCL didn't cruise between 4/1/20 and 7/25/21, so now instead of having a year to earn 35K points, we only have 8 months (the "normal" earning period would have been 4/1/21-3/31/2022.)  Or am I reading something wrong?  Unless the good news is just that we retained our level?

What would be REALLY have been awesome is if we had kept our level AND our points. 😁  But that didn't happen.

We cruised in August, and still had my level that I received on my last cruise that was right before the pandemic shut down sailing, so it's whatever your level was at that time. I'm thrilled because I was at Sapphire back in March 2020 and was still Sapphire in August 2021, and will still be Sapphire until 3/31/2022!

Right, I get that - but now you only have until March 31 to earn Sapphire again or you lose your status on April 1, 2022.

no, I restart earning Sapphire 4/1/2022. I get to keep my Sapphire until then. Considering it used to expire after a year, I'm pretty pleased with that.

I'm not following.  So what status will you have when you board, for example, in May 2022?

yeah, your right.

the rumor was the earning period was extended to 3/31/2023, thus your current tier is extended to that time too.

from that screen pic, our tiers will reset on April 1 to whatever our points accumulated 2021 to march 2022.

but it's at least something more definite than the rumors of extension to march 2023.

One plus that Royal did was keep our tier AND points until 3/31/22, so if you cruise prior to 3/31/22 you can "level-up" and at least enjoy the higher level until that time.  If NCL had done that, I would probably have pushed myself to cruise more between now and then to get the "Elite" perks (I was almost there when cruising stopped.)  But while they extended the tier level, they zeroed out the points.

Just got off the Escape and confirmed with the casino staff that the tier period ends the end of March 2022.  I still had tier points when I got on somehow, has to be from Nov 2019, easily got to the same tier I am now.  I asked how long I had to get enough points.to get to the next level, and it was March 2022.  So I might just look at a last minute cruise in March just to do that.

wait.. your tier points from 2019 carried over?

at the end of your current cruise, did you verify that your tier points is now what you earned on the Escape AND from 2019?

or was it that your slot freeplay points carried over from 2019?

on my current cruise, i saw i had 8k points on the slot screen on day 1 and i didnt play anything yet

Your tier status as of March 2020 is carried through March of 2023. So, if you were Sapphire before the shutdown, you will remain Sapphire until March 2023.

This is what has been called into question by the screenshot that was posted on this thread.  I had been advised by my CAS rep several months ago that my 2020 Ruby tier status (I earned 82K points between 4/1/19 & 3/15/20) would be extended until March 31, 2023 (even if I did not cruise in 2021 or 2022.)  However, the OP posted a screenshot that indicates that they have to EARN 35K points by 3/31/22 to RETAIN their Ruby status.  So which is it?  Does your 2020 status automatically carry to 2023 or do you have to earn points to maintain your status? Both things can't be true.

This is the $100K question!  Royal did allow player points to stand so that upon resuming cruising you could ADD to what you had previously earned to elevate your tier. It is my understanding from folks who recently cruised that NCL zeroed out the tier points.  (I have a feeling that the points fstuff1 carried were just their previously earned free play.)

Sorry typed this earlier in the airport but it didn’t post.  Yes, on the screen, it started out with I think 1800-1900.  I checked my tier points around day 5, and I had close to 7000.  So, that was when I asked how many to get to sapphire I think it is, and it was 15000 or 8000+ from where I was at, and they mentioned the March date.   You can check your tier points by hitting the little gear looking icon on the screen.  And then I gambled more so I ‘m not sure where i am now.  Nov 2019 was our last cruise.   I specifically booked one in March 2020 to renew my status, and that one got covid canceled.  So, it seemed to me at least something carried over from 2019.

yes, apparently that too.

but it makes no sense to have the earnings period expire on 3/31/22 if your tier will be extended to 3/31/23.

there's no incentive to earn points till the next earnings period starts.

unless you really really really want to make the next tier during the current (shortened) earnings period. 😮
