If you buy a more expensive cocktail on the all included package, do they charge the difference (eg give a $9 credit towards the price) , or do you have to pay the full price?    Thanks 😊

Just the difference plus the 20% gratuity

They will “contact” you when you board. There will be people all over asking if you need to upgrade. I tried doing it in advance, but the girl on the phone wasn’t able to do it. I didn’t have the patience to call back and wait on hold another 40 minutes to get someone else so just did it onboard.

What's the advantage of booking on board apart from waiters getting commission?

When you have the regular alcohol package and you order a more expensive drink, do you have to sign every time, or they just charge it to your room?

I had the premium beverage package 2 cruises ago which covers up to $15.00.  I ordered a drink valued at $16 and she charged me $1.00 plus gratuities and gave me a slip to sign. I guess she really needed that 20 cents.

I tried to do that by phone, as well, in order to get the Elite discount.  I was told I also needed to book a non-alcoholic package since those weren't covered with the premium package.  I told the CSR no, thank you, and hung up.  I'll try on board this weekend.  Would really like the better wines and martinis.  I may wait a day or two, and see how many drinks I want.  If the difference is just a couple of dollars a day, I may stay with Classic.

There are some wines on the premium package valued at $11 or $12.  Anything over that is above $15 so you will have upcharge over premium package limit.  I mostly upgrade for the Evian and Perrier water.  2 bottles of Evian a day  will run you $11.

With all due respect, she, which I think you mean the server/barkeep, was only doing her job, she does not pocket the 20 cents, Celebrity does.

X does not pocket the gratuity portion. That would go into the pool for staff.

No kidding, X gets it first though then they  distribute it, hopefully, as appropriate via employee paychecks.  My point was the employee providing the receipt isn’t pocketing the 20 cents. 🙄

So if the server should not charge at a $1 over then at what point.  $1.50’ $2, $5.

She was doing her job.

I am, with my son and his wife, currently at an ALL inclusive resort (tips included) in Mexico.  These resort employees work so hard to make this an amazing vacation for all here, who can well afford it. The service whether in a restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner or at the pool or on the beach or room service is off the charts impeccable.  These hard working folks (please save me the they knew before they signed up crap) make on average $16-$18k/year.  The tips we that are fortunate to be able to vacation like this and provide over and above their basic wage, make a difference in they and their families lives.  So on average we, a party of three, are combined adding approximately $50/day in out of pocket individual tips over and above our cost for a truly all inclusive ten day vacation.  Short money in all three of our opinions.

I understand what you mean. So she charged me an extra buck for a martini priced at $16 but then so should everyone else also get charged. I understand rules are rules but then should apply to everyone onboard.

You implied that X kept the money by saying "she does not pocket the 20 cents, Celebrity does.🙄

If you have any OBC you can use that to pay for the upgrade instead of paying out of pocket.
