Is this normal for Princess?

If you sail with Celebrity expect to get almost zero announcements from anyone, unless it’s of dire nature or something requiring your immediate attention.  We’ve been on many Celebrity sailings and never heard one announcement, except for disembarkation.  It’s quite nice.

My daughter and son-in-law were on Celebrity Reflection transatlantic the same time we were on Princess.  They just got back at midnight last night and she was telling me this morning that their captain was one of the best they'd ever seen.  He was from Greece and took part in many of their games, especially trivia, and walked around the ship regularly greeting passengers - extremely personable.

Celebrity has wonderful staff on all their ships.  Of course Captain Kate McCue is the face of Celebrity.

Apart from the issues above, what did you think about the ship, food, cabin/suite and staff onboard?

I thought the food in the dining room was very good - the beef entrees were always very tender.  I never ate in the World Marketplace for dinner but lunch there was fine.  I usually had a hot sandwich or soup from International Cafe for lunch.  I had an obstructed deluxe balcony near the front of the ship - the balcony railing was part of the hull.  HUGE balcony, I loved it.  Cabin steward was exceptional as were all the wait staff in Santorini dining room and Good Spirits Bar.  As for the ship itself, I just really miss a true promenade deck and it seemed the public spaces were tight.  We had to move all the tables and chairs in the Princess Live venue to participate in line dancing.  I also didn't care for the Retreat pool location and the aft pool is tiny.  But since we were on an itinerary that didn't have weather for swimming, it didn't affect me.

Meanwhile the actual captain was on the bridge working...

Wow, three planes flying past in  close formation.  That is why I always have my camera with me when I am out on the open deck.

Bob

By the time you see or hear them, they'll be gone. 😄

We opted out of receiving all the ad's and  other than a few announcements & the patter that we requested we had a hard time find any paper to write notes on. We finally took a bunch of paper towels from the public rest room rather than using toilet paper. 😁

Next trip we'll be requesting the ad's again.

If you go to the ship's library/games room, they usually have pencils and paper. I've also been able to get a pad of notepaper from the guest services desk.

I didn't think they had any.

I'll check it out next cruise.

During our last cruise on the Emerald (December 2021) they did not put out pencils and paper because of COVID. Hopefully things are a changing though as someone should realize the primary transmission is by air, not by touch.

I stole one from the casino one day. They had clean ones & used ones in different cups.

I just got back from a 25 nt TA on Enchanted Princess - it's the one that was supposed to be a Baltic cruise Ft. Lauderdale to Copenhagen, but the itinerary got changed numerous times and we ended up in the port of Southampton.

My question regards several things I noticed on this cruise.  We never saw the Captain (he was invisible) or any officers, not once on a 25 night cruise.  When we were in the North Sea we got buzzed twice by 3 fighter jets flying extremely low and close to the ship - one even turned on its side as it flew past.  Scared everyone to bits.  There was never any announcement of what happened, nothing from the bridge to explain it.

Another oddity is there were only 2 production shows in 25 nights!  I really look forward to these so it was a big disappointment.  Is this happening fleetwide or was it peculiar to our crossing?

Lack of entertainment would definitely keep me from cruising Princess again, sorry to say.

I seriously doubt if the jets cleared the flyby with the bridge or the captain before they did it.
