I would be surprised if this is the case (only time matters).  First of all, the casino tracks points on the machines which are based upon "coin in", not time played - just like land based casinos do.  So, why not use that measurement as they already have the data in hand PLUS it is too easy to manipulate time played (IMO).  Second, my wife and her sister both played on a recent cruise (sister's first) about the same amount of time, but sister plays more $ per spin, so thus had much higher coin in points.

Result, the sister got SIX TIMES as much free play as my wife on last week's free cabin offer.

Your explanation makes sense, but time played is also tracked with your players card inserter in the slot machine. I have heard from several sources that it is time spent at the machine that gets you the most rewards. I have watched them as they play the lowest bet on a penny machine slowly to get rewards. Is this fact, who knows. It does not make sense to me that they would not go by total points. Perhaps they figure time spent in the casino will eventually equal money spent. Maybe they like the casinos full of players. Maybe it is some combination of time spent and points.

But how do you explain my real life experience where two people played about the same amount of time on the same machines but one got 6 times as much in free play?  No way the one person played six times as much.  I have seen this with others as well - the time was about the same but the size of bets were much higher and the result was that the free play on the offers (even those received while still onboard and based on that week's play) were FAR greater (by factors of 4-6 times).

First the free play offers you receive on the last day of the cruise are different than "free cabin". Those free play offers are usually worthless since they can not be combined with a "free cabin" casino offer. From my prospective the "free cabin" offer is what counts. So the question is did either or both players receive the " free cabin" e-mails. I am not saying you are wrong, only saying what I have heard from several of the casino regulars on the ships. This has also been discussed on cruise critic before and others have said the same. We have a four cruises coming soon, all "free cabin" offers, maybe we will try the time at the machine method and see what happens. I think " free cabin" deals will become more difficult to get. Probably not worth gambling 5-10k to get a "free cabin" deal.

I receive free cabin offers with included free play and included signature beverage package.

However the emailed offers from HAL are better than the ones I receive at the end of the cruise - the primary difference being the amount of free play.

Both types of offer give me the same type of free cabin but email has more free play $$$.

Yes, both received the same free cabin offers.  And the OBC each received was the same amount as they got onboard (factor of 6 to 1).

Let me add this to the "logarithm" conversation.  My upcoming cruise is a "free-cabin" casino offer.  However, I do not play at the tables or machines.  I play BINGO at each opportunity at the highest package available.

I also received another "free-cabin" offer that I'm considering for next year.  So I somehow got on the list.  I hope that I stay on it, because it really helps me afford to cruise as solo.

That is one I have not heard. Well done, hope you stay on the list.

So… How do you explain this: Wife put in about $90-100 in a slot machine and cashed out $1100. Done for the cruise. Coupla months later got a ‘Free 14-day Cruise for 2 plus free drinks’. She took the offer. A mindless Algorithm or ‘please come back, we want our $Money$ ?? I dunno…

How long did she play?  Just one day or the entire cruise?

She played with that $90-some bucks for about 2/hrs then cashed out nicely.

It does appear then that they are after their money!

After reading all the posts on this, perhaps there are multiple qualifications to get the free cabin offers.  I do expect to see fewer of them as the ship's start sailing with higher occupancy rates.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wanted to share with my casino offer "family".  My boss approved my PTO requests for end of December and end of March.  I'm taking advantage of the casino offers.  I booked 2 cruises (refer to signature) for less than $900 that normally would have been over $6700 otherwise!

Well, I continue to get "only" free interior offers.

BUT, I just got an email today and the 2 5-night sailings on Rotterdam after the 16-night TA (that I booked at an excellent price, even after adding Have It All ($45/night) and Club Orange ($15/night).

So, I can stretch that 16-nights to 26-nights and get to see some of Scandinavia (never been), then a stop at one of my favorite cities (Edinburgh) plus another stop in Scotland.

I love my nice, dark interior cabins.  Sure, more casino cash would be nice.  Or a full Signature drink  package instead of just Drinks while Gambling, but I'll take whatever they want to give me.

I leave on one of these this weekend. A 7 day to Alaska. Today I decided that I won't be doing a single 7 day again. After paying to upgrade to balcony, transportation to the port, a hotel stay the night before and all of the covid testing, ArriveCan and other pre-cruise paperwork it has become very expensive, stressful and time consuming. Don't get me wrong. I love getting the offers and will continue to check them out, but will be more picky about booking. I will be looking at longer cruises or B2Bs from now on. Having said that, I leave tonight for this weekend's cruise and am very much looking forward to it.

There were a new round of the "free" cabin offers that stated today. Found them on accident by searching through all 46 pages of cruises. Still don't get the e-mails but we were able to book 14 days Copenhagen to Norway July and August next year.

I'm confused. If you don't get the emails, then how are you eligible?

I've only booked one casino offer and that was after receiving the offer by mail addressed to me personally with the name of a cruise consultant. Can anyone who manages to find the list go ahead and book?

you need to be on the Club 21 email list. You can also try calling you PCC with the current campaign code : HEP22337CO, program: UYA, this new offer expires on 09/09/22

Pray tell. How do you get find a PCC 😉

@vswanMy new PCC (my fantastic guy who had been there for almost 30 years just left) was unsure whether I could book the 2 5-night sailings under the same offer. Told her I'd just done that for my Zuidy Alaska sailing on 6/1 & 6/8.  I wasn't going to expend all that time and money to get to the west coast to sail for just one week.

Hate having to train a new PCC but that's the state of things everywhere these days.

I had called my former PCC's number and got somrone who said a new PCC would be assigned to me. Got a call from the new one a couple of days later.  Try 800-355-3017 and ask to be assigned a PCC.

When I search the list of cruises after signing into my account the $200 cruises appear. I can then call and book these directly or thru my PCC. Apparently there is some problem blocking my e-mails that HAL has never been able to repair. I have tried several times to get this fixed.

You just need to call the casino number on the List of the HEPcode and give them the number and the cruise you would like.  They will look up your account and let you know if you qualify for the free cruise or not.  We did not receive the last offer in June, however when I saw it on here I called and sure enough we were able to book a free cruise.  Worth the phone call, the worst they can say is no you don't qualify.
