I'm surprised that so few people said, "I'll buy at any cost."  From these boards, I had the impression that more people were dedicated package buyers.

As for drinking 7-10 drinks across the course of the day, no way I could do that.  Being a small person and a pre-diabetic, I wouldn't like the way I'd feel.  Liquid sugars hit your blood stream more quickly /play havoc with your blood sugars.  I personally just couldn't do it.

Well, not in our case.  Our biggest fear is spending way more money on the cruise than what we are comfortable budgeting for.  If we buy a package, we want to think, ok, that puts a limit on how much drinks will cost on the trip.

I'm not certain we have paid so much for the package that we come out even only if we have 7-10 drinks per day.  That sounds a bit much even for me!  But is that really how the math works out?

Same here. I don't have diabetes but by the time I drink the requisite 60oz-80oz of water a day, I don't have much room left for that much liquid. I can fit about 3-4 more drinks in there, but that's pushing it for me. Generally at that point, my water intake is going down in order to increase my "other" drinks. I can do that for a few days of vacation, but anything more than that and I feel like complete crap. Maybe I need to stop being such a boring healthy person so I can have more fun and not feel such a drastic difference in my body when I indulge. Or maybe it's just me feeling the effects of getting old 😂.

I also found that with the refreshment package, I was using the freestyle machines to fill my cup with ice and water, and rarely asked for a bottled water. I brought an insulated water bottle to fill with ice water at the freestyle machine when going to the beach because it can hold 40oz and stay cold all day in the hot sun. The bottled water ends up lukewarm, so, even the "Don't forget to count all the bottled water" argument doesn't add up for me.

Still debating on if we buy the drink package this time. It is pushing $91AUD a day ($3200 for both of us on the 18 day cruise) we are Diamond members and will get the 4 vouchers. We are on the repo cruise Hawaii to Brisbane Australia. There is a hell of a lot of sea days ( 12 sea days to be exact, 13 including day 1) and we do like a drink. This is depending how we feel. On a general day when we cruise we always have a Bloody Mary with breakfast sometimes 2 depending on how we feel. 3-6 on the Lido deck with a swim and lazing about at lunch time. Have a little break in the afternoon with a few waters or soft drinks. Mid afternoon and before dinner we may 2-4. Usually we have the late dinner session and have 1 or 2 at dinner. Then we might hit the casino or a show with a few more. last but not least a couple bottles water before calling it a night.

Spreading this out over the day 12-16 hours (drinking on average 16 drinks and not all being at $13 due to myself drinking beer at $7-8 not forgetting the bottles of water $5 a pop)

Below is over a 12-16 hour period!!!

My Daily drinks are in AUD (Averaging as some days it may be more some days maybe less)

1 x Bloody Mary $13+

4 x cocktails $13=$52+

8 x Beers    $7:50=$60+

6 x bottles water $5:50=22+

                                =$147 AUD per day

Above does not take into account the exchange rate of AUD to USD

To finish after doing the sums paying the $91 AUD a day is a no brainer even with our Diamond vouchers.

Not worth it to me. I can only handle 1 to 3 drinks a day, and not every day. My 2 bottles of wine will cover at least one of the drinks per day. Then I might buy the occasional pina colada by the pool or a second glass of wine (beyond what I carried from my room) while sitting in a lounge in the evening if there’s nothing else to do. I don’t drink soda, so nothing needed from the nonalcoholic side of the package, either. I think the whole week I’d end up paying “a la carte” what one day of the package costs.

I was referring to 2022 sailings, they may offer the same next year. The below says March but they have extended it for the full season.

That's  the deal we've got, although to be 100% accurate, we've been charged £39.33 per day, something  to do with the vagaries of exchange rates, I believe.

My sea day consumption  looks a bit like:

"Proper" orange juice with breakfast.

Mid morning  coffee

2 or 3 beers at lunch.

Couple of beers during the afternoon round the pool

Cocktail before going in to shower and change.

2 -3 glasses of wine with dinner

Cocktail in the theatre

Glass of whisky as a nightcap.

Easily braking even for us.

We had this email sent to us and had to call to get the package, it came to £39 PPPD for our 9 night Med cruise on Odyssey end of September. A couple of coffee's  and Fresh OJ at breakfast, drinks at the pool, a few pre dinner cocktails, wine at our meal and then a few drinks during and after a show it is a no brainer, it all adds up. We sailed Anthem OTS twice last year since start up and the prices of the DDP was £80 PPPD and that was totally unacceptable and to me was RC grabbing some money back.

My issue was never the sea days.  It was the port days.  In order to make up for less time on the ship, I had to drink even MORE on the sea days.  While I am not a teetotaler(sp?), I am definitely a lightweight. SUGAR on the other hand... lol

I am beginning to think my parents were unduly concerned about dehydration, because I easily clear 120 ounces of water per day.

The drinks package works out at $123 aud per day. That seems to be a lot of drinks needed to justify it being worthwhile.

Do anybody have a current price list for drinks on RC quantum of the seas?

Also  the speciality dining  package is nearly $500 per person. Plus 3 of the restaurants have surcharges so not sure if this package is value for money?

If you already have a cruise booked on that ship, use the Royal app and look at the menus for the various onboard bars to get prices.  I do think drink prices are the same across ships, so what I see on Voyager is that most fruity or frozen cocktails (like a Goombay Smash) are US$13.  Most call-brand mixed drinks (like gin and tonic) are US$10 - US$11.  Beer are US$7.50 - US$8 for most, a few specialty beers are up to US$9.  Wines run the gamut, with most common one being US9$ - US$15 glass.

I think the "recommended" water consumption is to drink half your weight (in pounds) in ounces of water. So for me, I weigh 120 pounds, so 60oz is what I'm "supposed" to drink. Add water for exercise, hot weather etc. If I'm doing a lot of running in hot weather, hiking, skiing (eating a lot of salt 😂) then I get close to drinking 100oz.

120oz could be normal or a lot depending on how much you weigh and how much sweating you do.

Welcome to CC.

There's virtually nothing RCI offers in the planner that is of any value for money for most folks. Drink prices are listed in the RCI app (look at any of the bars).

I won't pay $50 or above. I have Diamond drinks to keep me busy. I can't justify spending $50 or more to supplement my freebies.

Also Diamond however still buy the package because well, I drink like a fish 🤣.  Also, I figure a certain percentage of the price goes to convenience of not having to sign tickets or keep track of consumption cost.
