MDR reservation

You select your dining time in your online cruise manager.  You can select early dining (set time), late dining (set time), or Your Time Dining (anytime within the posted hours).  If you select YTD, you will check in on the HUB app each day when you are ready to go to dinner (just like checking in with the hostess at a land-based restaurant).

Not much has changed regarding dining times since the last time you were on Carnival, except now you check in for YTD dining in the app instead of in person.

The Hub app works great for reservations! Very easy to use and much better than standing around at the entrance to the dining room. Use it for breakfast there too. Our waits were always 10 minutes or less except for formal night that was 10-20 minutes. And I believe our table was ready at exactly the 20 minute mark. It will tell you your table number and which deck to go to. (the Sunshine used decks 3 and 4)

Unlike Celebrity or Royal you can't make advanced whole cruise dinner reservations on Your time dining. You can only make a reservation when you're ready to dine. In other words you can't go into the phone app on day 1at 5pm and make a reservation for 7pm.Generally speaking wait times are around 10-20 minutes on nights other than Elegant Nights where the waits can be from 30-60 minutes. The great thing about the phone app is it will tell you the approximate wait times before you actually have to commit to a reservation ( wait times sometimes aren't the most accurate and you can cancel a table request at any time) and that can be done anywhere on the ship. If you generally come from your cabin after dressing you can always check the wait times while you're getting ready and judge when you need to put in a table request. There's a button on the app that if you want want to eat with others you can choose that.

Using the App are you able to make a dining reservation for more people than the ones in your cabin?

We are sailing with extended family in another cabin and will want to dine together. So if there are two in our cabin and three in theirs, can I just reserve a table for 5?

Only if the reservations are 'linked' prior to the cruise as I understand it.

If you have a set dining time, then you have to make sure the cruise bookings are linked together so they assign you the same table. If you are using the anytime dining, yes, you can set the reservations each day, you just have to link everyone together - we've always done the chat plan, added friends/family, and whoever is making the dining reservation that night chooses everyone who wants to sit together for that meal. Just note that you may have to wait a little while if you have a large group, depending on the ship and number of other cruisers trying to eat at the anytime MDR at the same time.

Thanks for your reply, but how do I "link" our two cabins together?
