Worst immigration ever after Mexico…

Round trip from San Francisco. First stop Ensenada Mexico.

Next stop San Diego.

Received a paper the night before San Diego stating that there would be a Face to Face Immigration Inspection in San Diego.

Starting at 7:15 am EVERYONE had to get off the ship. Latest time to get off would be 9:30 am.

NO ONE will be allowed back on until everyone was checked.

Well, of coarse you could tell what would happen…..

Some people did not read the part of not being able to return to the ship so they thought they were smart and would get off early and then return for breakfast……wrong…

and then you know there are always those that feel the message does not apply to them so they remain onboard.

We got off at 9am and took a shuttle to Seaport Village. To early for most shops to open so we returned.

immigration building was packed and the was a very long line to get back on the ship.

We we’re finally allowed to start reboarding  at 10:30 am.

One of the crew told me they had to knock on some cabin doors to get people out.

We have done many cruises to Mexico before an d never had to go through this.

NOT Princess fault but immigrations. The crew was just as annoyed as we were I am sure

Ensenada first port is usually a disaster. I wonder why Princess set it up that way?  Not often (but has happened) they stop in Ensenada before going to Hawaii.  Hilo is not set up for such a check through and is a short port.  At least San Diego was a long port and has "resident" CBP since Holland and Celebrity leave/return to San Diego.

Imagine the days before the Medallion.  At least they could "find" these stragglers.

And the passengers who wouldn’t get off!

Similar thing in Nagasaki for us, but the line up outside continued to form until 2 pm when finally the Japanese police escorted the immigration dodgers off the ship with their luggage.

Before Medallions.

This is the norm when hitting any US port after Mexico. The crew is used to it. They advised us the day prior to go and enjoy San Diego for a couple hours, not to hang around a packed terminal, so we grabbed an early breakfast and took a nice morning stroll in to Seaport Village.

Not only Mexico into the USA.   Earlier this month we were on a cruise from Quebec to Fort Lauderdale.   Our first port of call was Bar Harbor, weather was bad and immigration could not board.  Next stop was Boston.   Cleared Immigration onboard very promptly, citizens to one area, foreign nationals to another.  Arrival in Fort Lauderdale was prompt.  Walk off, pick up bags and off we went.
