App chat feature free from Jan 01

As reported elsewhere and promised previously by Michael Bayley the previously $1.99 per day chat feature on the app will be free from January 01 on all ships.

 

Cue cynical and negative comments here.

Will it at least have an alert now for when you get a message?

They are making it free, I highly doubt they will bother improving it.

How hard can it be?  My phone alerts me to everything under the sun.  We'll see how well it works when a lot of people are trying to use it at the same time.

I doubt this will increase usage too much. Most people don't even know it exists in the first place

To offset the $1.99 being free, all internet daily packages will be increased by $1.99

I was very happy about this! We have 3 rooms on our next trip it will be helpful to give updates on where we are heading.
