If you have access to Adobe Acrobat (not just the reader) or another PDF manipulator, you can take that text out before you even print it.  I'm guessing you can't print the boarding passes yet, correct ?  I do have Acrobat.  If you don't have Acrobat and also can remember when the time comes, hit me up on here by quoting me and/or @angela12345 and pause long enough for CC to display my name in the dropdown that will come up so you can select it and it will show @angela12345.  We'll figure out some way to get the PDF to me and I can edit it for you, if you'd like.

Oh wow thanks. I’ll keep that in mind. I have a printer and copier. I was thinking of printing it, whiting out the “category: suite” statement, then making a copy of it so there’s no white out to see on the page. But if that doesn’t work I’ll definitely be in contact with you. Because I’m not good with editing stuff like that.

I had a vista suite on the Pride this past summer. It didn't say suite, but it did say priority on our luggage tags and our boarding documents. I would just tell him that the "priority" is for being platinum, diamond, etc. if he asks.  Even if you aren't platinum, I would just tell him that.  However, when you board, I think that suite guests board before everyone else so you either have to forego the preferred boarding or let him know then.

Edit: Saw the other responses.  It definitely says PRIORITY and not suite.  I still have my docs left over in one of my travel bags.  If you are already diamond or platinum, I would just walk up there when they call suites and not say anything. If your husband is like my husband, he would never notice.

Ours is also deck 4 it’s cabin 4228.I’m so excited! We are Platinum so I’ll just board along with Platinum guests. Our cruise isn’t until August so I won’t be able to see our boarding passes anytime soon either. It’s sounding like most cruisers don’t think it’s on the luggage tags so I’m hopeful that I can pull off the surprise. Thanks for the info.

It's been 4237 for us (I'm a Starboard geek🤪).  I put a lot of research into it and am convinced Deck 4 Vista Suites are the best.  You made a good choice!  I can see my luggage tags and they definitely say "PRIORITY" but not " SUITE".  But. like you, I cannot see my boarding passes yet.  Thankfully, others here with recent experience have answered the boarding pass question.  I like your/angela12345's idea of white out/editing the boarding passes.  I know what it's like to married to an engineer (and at the same time an oblivious husband)🙄.  I actually booked a whole cruise as a surprise birthday present for him without my DH catching on.🤣

Yeah he will just follow my lead for sure.

Does he always look at the boarding passes?  Can you just hold on to them?  You can hand both to the agent along with his passport, no need for him to have it in his hands.

He usually wants his own copy of the boarding passes just in case I misplace mine.

The last couple cruises I had check in staff calling out "everyone has their own boarding pass and ID".  I'm the keeper of ALL DOCUMENTS so I gave them up right before we walked into the terminal.😲

That's me exactly!  That's what I do on every trip - cruises, flights, etc.  After a stressful moment many years ago with my husband's passport of:

"I thought you had it."

"No, I gave it to you, remember?"

"No you didn't."

etc.,

DH and I now have a well-established protocol.  I always have the passports and docs until, when I hand him his / my DDs theirs right before they are required, I say "You have your passport"  and he follows with "I have my passport".  When I collect them all again I say "I have all the passports" and he says "You have all the passports".  It sounds stupid that we actually go through saying all this out loud, but it makes us both take a moment to take notice of and agree on their location and in the last twenty or so years since we've been doing it this way, no more lost/misplaced docs issues have occurred.😁

Hah!  I thought I was the lone KEEPER OF THE DOCUMENTS🤣!  As soon as we get through the check in process I gather all passports and hold on to them for dear life.  Not only cruises, but on our trip to Europe.

I love the ritual of "I have all the passports".  Gonna use that next time👍

@cruisinqt, just seeing your thread. Happy Anniversary! A wonderful surprise.

Pull this off sometime. I surprised my wife with an ENTIRE CRUISE once about 15-20 years ago.  Grandparents, our young kids, and her work were all in on the caper. She didn't think we were going anywhere for Spring Break and went to work as usual on a 'normal' Friday. There was an 'all hands' company meeting in the afternoon where the CEO slipped in a pic of the ship interspersed with lots of corporate stuff. "Who the hell did these slides?' 😄  I was swiftly escorted into the conference room where I plunked down her suitcase saying 'We have a plane to catch to St. Maarten honey. Let's go!'

(I had lots of help from lots of people including packing advice from the ladies at her office. The kids were flying solo to grandma's leaving an hour before us. Hiding the money was the hardest.)

Sounds just like DH and I. I have everything until he needs to have them, then he gives them back to me. Not because he can't keep track, but because I'm forgetful. If something isn't in its place, I general have no idea where it is. Passports and nexus cards are kept in my travel purse so he'll hand me his stuff and say, "you have my passport and nexus?" then I confirm.

I can’t believe you did that. What a great surprise for your wife. I bet she was really happy.

She loved it. But she has admitted to missing out on the fun part of planning.

I am the Queen of Planning.  When my DH packed for me for a weekend up in Solvang he forgot my makeup.  I used lipstick for everything.  So crazy!  😁

4228 happens to be MY cabin too! Except I'm on the Spirit, not the Pride. Since they're sister ships, if you have any questions about the suite I'll try to answer them when I'm on board. I took one look at that wrap-around balcony and I couldn't resist!

That’s exactly how I felt. When I saw the huge wrap around balcony I knew we that’s what I wanted.

I love the idea of a surprise! Good on you.

My DH surprised me with a cruise to Canada back in 2004. He left a message on a VHS tape that I watched that morning. (yup, I said VHS)  That started me off on a scavenger hunt around the house, eventually leading me to a half packed suitcase. Inside i found instructions to finish packing, and be on public transportation by a certain time to get to W 57 Street & 11th Ave in Manhattan. During the train ride I had to do a word puzzle that he created to get the combination for a lock. 😳 The boarding pass, and my passport was in the small front compartment of the suitcase which was locked.  I was so scared I would miss my train stop, because I was concentrating so hard. 🤣

Once I arrived in front of the Helena building, I opened the compartment to find a my travel documents! Then I heard the horn of a ship! Excellent timing! I was jumping up and down in the street like a lunatic, and I didn’t care who was watching! I trotted up street to the pier and saw DH standing there with the widest smile. 😃 He said “I knew you’d make it”!  🤗 He booked our first and only aft balcony. I was overcome by his thoughtfulness. ☺️

Truly hope your suite surprise goes just the way you planned in your mind and heart!

Do it!! 😊

DH has continued his sweet surprises over the years. All of them special in their own way.

Like others, I tried to surprise DH with an upgraded stateroom on a cruise. I usually handle all of the bookings. In Dec. 2007, we booked and OV. Later, I paid to upgrade us to a balcony. I almost made it!!!!  He had no idea until we checked in at the port. The woman at the counter said: “Ooh! Enjoy your Balcony!” 😳 🙄

I avoided eye contact with DH until he couldn’t hold his laughter any longer. Then we both started laughing. 🤣

He appreciated my efforts so much that he went along with the “surprise” that was ruined in my eyes. Once he stepped into the stateroom he said in his best Broadway play voice: “Wow! You did this for me?? You love me…you really love me!”

Priceless! 🤣🤣🤣

Don’t worry whatever you do, it will awesome and special! Enjoy!

I was able to upgrade my DDs as well as my DH and myself to two balcony cabins on our Thanksgiving cruise.  As we walked into our cabins, my DDs said "why do we have a balcony?" like I was in the wrong cabin. I had to explain the upgrade part to them.  😉
