Motor City Posted January 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2023 So I was just looking for a beach day, but apparently Goff's is not opening up ANYTIME soon. What can we do? Any suggestions? I don't want to do any cave exploration, zip lines, hours on a bus to check out ruins is a no, etc...Broke my knee last year and just want to keep it chill. Considered doing a water taxi over to Caye Caukler, but seems we'll spend more time on the taxi, then exploring the island. I'm really bummed about Goff's, was looking forward to relaxing on the beach and snorkeling a bit.
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 8, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2023 There's a man-made beach, "Cucumber Beach", in Old Belize City. It's where locals go. Haven't been there in years, but you can take a taxi from port. https://www.oldbelize.com/services/kukumba-beach/ But if you're knee is giving you problems getting up and down, especially on tenders and docks, you may just want to enjoy a day on the ship. Jeal Posted January 10, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) We went to Cucumber Beach last year and will not go there again. The water looks nothing like the picture in the link above. However, the vendors were extremely nice and said they wished the people selling the tours were more honest about what to expect because so many people were disappointed when they got there. We stayed a couple of hours and then left. Edited January 10, 2023 by Jeal

Dancing Shoes Posted January 14, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2023 Not much in Belize unless you take a tour away from the pier area. 🙂

RCmommy Posted January 20, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2023 We have just decided to do the Carnival excursion to Altun Ha. Would rather go private but I also don’t want to be left behind possibly.

ABQrobin Posted March 7, 2023 #13 Share Posted March 7, 2023 I did Altun Ha tour solo a few years ago while hubby went diving. Here's my video if it helps. Its a nice half day tour, great guides, great food.
elklemi Posted March 25, 2023 #14 Share Posted March 25, 2023 I have done Caye caulker twice with Coral Breeze and was an excellent experience, they took good care of us and if you are not snorkeling, they drop you on the island first and pickup so snorkel folks can get lunch before heading back to port. I’m also thinking long sleeves and long pants as I am very susceptible to bites.

We have never had a problem so I guess we got lucky. We take bug spray with us, just never had any need for it.
