The Key cards now come with a small rectanguler hole at the top of the card.  At least my card on the Rotterdam in Oct. did.

I was on the Rotterdam in December 2022.  My key card was already punched.

And the Pinnacle Ships are just a swipe by a sensor at your cabin door versus inserting in a card slot on the non-Pinnacle ships.

Yes modern technology  is great until it fails & becomes a night mare but so far so good .

Usually a hole punch is done when your card is deactivated so be careful what you wish for. 😁  As mentioned there is a small slit in the cards if you looking for lanyard clasp or thread.

I was on the Rotterdam two weeks ago and had a hole in my stateroom card.  A fellow passenger asked me where I got the hole as their card did not have a punched hole.  I was in Club Orange and they were not if that made a difference.

We tried to get a hole punched in ours on the Koningsdam, but they wouldn't do it. It must depend on the ship to get the ones pre-punched.

I always bring my own hole puncher and take care not to punch through anything important on the card.

Currently on the Rotterdam and took my card to Guest Services where they punched a small rectangular hole above the bar code so I could attach it to my badge reel holder.  
 

No one in our party had a card that came pre-punched.

Key cards pre-punched at all 3 cruises on m.s. Rotterdam in 2022. And we never need them....😉
