they want to sell in-room calling and cellular at sea roaming is my guess

I suspect there is an element of preserving band width for other wifi users who have paid for at least some service.

you need a paid WiFi plan to use WiFi calling anyway. And WiFi calling uses very little bandwidth. People doom scrolling TikTok or streaming sports is what’s eating bandwidth.

Try calling using WhatsApp. It’s a different protocol than regular wifi calling.

I'll have to look into it.  My social media is limited to LinkedIn (and YouTube, if you count it,) at the moment.

WhatsApp is not social media. Think of it as an alternative to texting/wifi calling. In fact, on some carriers (T-Mobile for example) you can't text with the normal wifi package...but you can send texts via WhatsApp.

The *only* drawback is that whoever you talk to needs to have it also, but it's free, so not that big of a deal...

I was able to FaceTime but not Wi-Fi call.

And I'm able to use Google Meet.  It does the job adequately.

#3 ranked social media platform.  I'll still take a look at it.  Thanks for the suggestion.

LOL, not sure what list you looked at, but it is a communications app - texting and calling...absolutely nothing to do with social media.

Perhaps wherever you looked erroneously tagged it as social media because it's owned by Facebook...
