Heating Pads - non electric type

Hello! I know that we can't bring my mom's electric heating pad, however there are a variety of battery and USB type pads on Amazon. Are those allowed on board?  Anyone have any luck bringing one aboard?

Thanks!

Those are still very much electric. The ship’s concern is fire. Heaters, by definition, are intended to generate heat, which has the potential to cause a fire. Tbe other related risk is an electrical short, which can also result in a fire.

The ship’s electrican  can provide guidance on what is acceptable.

I've purchased a USB powered heating pad based on an earlier thread on here.  The person said they had no problem.  It remains to be seen. Different ships seem to have their own rules.  I personally find hot water bottles useless.

I would be interested to hear if those using the USB heating pad had problems bringing them on board. I have always had a problem with poor circulation in my feet but as I have gotten older it causes pain in my legs if I cannot warm my feet up. I suffered a lot last July going to Norway and a bit concerned about doing September Alaska. I totally agree Hot Water Bottles are totally useless.

I hear you.  At home I do acupuncture for my knees and heat up magic bags in the microwave at home.  I use something called a Thermotex at home plus tens machines.  Also use a magic bag on my hip at home.  I find the exercise bike helps my knees somewhat on a cruise but walking a ton is a killer even though I routinely do 10 to 15 thousand steps a day but that's in short spurts during the day.  I don't know what I'd do if I did something like a 2 month cruise.  I do bring my tens machines but they are limited help.  Getting old sucks.
