Icon of Seas Feb 3, 2024--should we?

OK, this is the week after inaugural sailing.

I know many like that as it is special, but often there are many kinks not worked out.

We have been offered the 2nd week about half off what the online price is.

30 cruises under our belts, late 50s-early 60s couple. Like to be busy on a cruise.

Celebrity is our fav but people told us we would hate Carnival & we loved our 14 day Miracle journey in Jan.

We loved Allure & Anthem, tho admittedly has been 5 yrs since we sailed Anthem & longer since Allure.

Thoughts?

How did you like Miracle's MDR colors and overall decor?

We had better pax while sailing on ... but colors.

We LOVE bright colors, but that scene was weird.

As for Icon... I will wait and see videos. We like all classes of RCI, but not sure we will go out of the way (we sail from Northeast) to sail on her.

How did you score half off? For half off ... I'm there, book me. New ship. No way I'd pass up a good deal on a new ship.

LOL the theming was unusual to be sure--luckily I had looked at ship tour videos prior to embarkation so I wasn't so shocked. Then I was able to not give it much mind.

I'm a sucker for new ships too.

Urcomped gives us deals.

We usually only take the comped ones but as expensive as this cruise is, I thought it might be worth it to pay a more reasonable price.

We booked Icon last year and I can barely wait. Half off the online price go for it. It won't be perfect, a glitch here and there but, to be one of the very first to sail this brand new leviathan don't miss it.

Happy Cruising.

I hate to say this, but I'd book it just for the fact that the inaugural could be delayed or cancelled for any number of reasons (other lines have experienced delays in delivery post-covid).

Unless something catastrophic happens she will be here in plenty of time for the Jan 27th sailing.

She's still being built and has another sea trial to complete, plus the shipyard can only work as fast as their suppliers are able to as well. There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to delivery, and these days there is precedent for delayed delivery for many reasons.

I think my point remains valid.

She will most likely be in Miami in December.
