I was on the ship in May. It was fine. The main negative was the mattresses - mine was horrible. Others have made similar comments.

Anything you recommend we bring from home to help with that? (we prefer a firm mattress). I've read the posts here and it seems like the Emerald deck (our deck in November) is hit or miss with new mattresses. We were just on the Royal and loved those mattresses.

Thanks!

I was on the Crown for 28 days in March/April this year and she is an absolute lovely ship.    It is older and slightly outdated but the ship is very well kept.    The crew on board were some of the best crew I have ever sailed with.    With that said, I have to absolutely agree with everyone here that the mattresses are horrible.    Mine was so bad that I asked my cabin steward twice if he couple possibly get this mattress switched out for me.    You could see it was obviously very ready for the mattress graveyard but all he would/could do was flip the mattress for us.    That didn’t change a thing but hey…….I moved on with life, I was on a glorious cruise.

I was also on her for the 28-day cruise in March/April. Had a great time. Yes, there are some rust spots but you expect that with any ship, boat, car or home that’s on or near salt water.

Hi Pam, we also had a great time and thought the ship was fine, I sat next to you at the Meet and Greet.  Do you have any cruises coming up?  We'll be doing B2B Mexico/Hawaii in December.

I remember! Yes, boarding the Emerald on the 29th for a family cruise. We’re going to distribute my sister’s ashes at sea.

We were on the crown to Alaska on June 13. Of all our princess cruises…46….this ship is my least favorite., our mattress was simply awful…they did replace it with one worse than the one we had. Then another one came and it was just okay.

the room steward was great.

the food was just not good and we are not foodies. There was no labeling of sugar free desserts on the buffet and the selections were slim. I have never complained about the food on princess but this one was bad.

the captain was very aloof at the most traveled guest cocktail party. His noon announcements were nonexistent.

We enjoyed the casino despite all the smoke.

I doubt we will go on her again .

So sorry to hear about your sister, but what a lovely thing to do.  Best wishes.

I have heard that you can request a mattress topper but how many do they have? I have a 31 day next year. Maybe they will replace some of the saggy ones. When is the next dry dock?

I had a mattress topper on my very saggy mattress and all it did was make it a very soft saggy mattress. It was the worst mattress I have had on eleven Princess cruises and probably one of the worst mattresses I have ever slept on. That mattress needs to be replaced immediately. I was in E631.

A new Captain came on board when I boarded on June 23rd.  Anyone sailing on the Crown since then is in for a treat!  Captain Christopher Lye is the most personable captain I have ever sailed with.  He was out and about ship, very visible and very approachable.  His noon announcements were full of information and never boring.  I'd love to sail with him again and wish more captains would emulate his style.
