Back to Back - requesting to switch rooms

Recommended Posts

We are currently on our first leg of a B2B cruise that ends Friday.  We were not able to secure the same balcony room at the time of booking - we are currently towards the front, and our second half is a balcony close to the back of the ship - complete opposite end of the ship.  I’d like to see if we can change our room closer to where we are now.  The cruise shows sold out for balconies, but interior available.  Who would be the best to speak with on the ship to see if a rogue balcony is available and we can move rooms?  We called Customer service a few times to see if our current balcony became available (or even another room altogether for both legs).  I turned Diamond on this cruise.  So….any chance for a room change?  Who would be the best to ask on the ship - guest services or loyalty ambassador?  Or it’s 99.9% not going to happen so don’t bother?  Not trying to complain…I just didn’t realize how much I’d like the location of my current room.

Likely this but it won't hurt to ask - guest services. A cabin may not become available until after sail away (no show), which will be after you have already settled into your new cabin.

We did a b2b twice last year and had to move cabins, it's really easy to do and does not take long.   We did ask the LA on the first segment if there was any other availability but it was a full sailing.

They did advise to ask onboard and if a swap or the existing cabin was still available they may have been able to change it.

Unless you're really interested in staying forward, not much point in changing cabin assignment.  No matter what you have to move and the process is the same.  Of course no harm in asking to stay where you are but the odds are slim.

For those doing a B2B that need to change rooms for the first time:

First, advise your room steward that you will be staying on board but changing rooms. Leave all hanging clothes in your closet, Pack all of your drawer stuff and toiletries in suitcases. Add the new room luggage tags to your suitcases. Leave everything in your room for the steward to move them for you. When you're ready to exit your old room to meet in a lounge to be escorted off of the ship, re-check your room to see if you have everything needed to exit and re-enter the ship, such as your old and new sea passes, passports/ID's, and anything valuable from the safe. Done! Enjoy the provided luncheon (if available on your ship), and enjoy the next leg of your B2B!!! Cheers!!

You can ask, but as balconies are sold out there is minimal chance.  I’d just plan to move to your next assigned cabin.   It has been interesting to see how our cabin location impacts our day/choices/perception of ship when we have moved to totally different part of the ship on a b2b.  You may enjoy it.

If you see that a different room becomes available, call Guest Services and have them connect you to RC shoreside.  This call is free.  Shoreside can easily make the change for you.

On a recent B2B cruise, we had a horrible noise in our cabin on the first leg that maintenance couldn’t fix.  Although there was another cabin available (same category) for the next cruise, Guest Services refused to help.  I called Shoreside and in 5 minutes we were moved.

Good luck!

Approx. 2 days before a cruise begins the cruise is effectively transferred and under the control of the ship.  However that doesn't mean they will offer cabin changes once they have the cruise.  You can ask at guest services, it never hurts to ask, but I'm guessing they will ask you come back once the ship has sailed on the next cruise so you'll have to move cabins and then try.

They do sometimes keep a cabin or two available for unplanned incidents and someone may be a no-show so it's possible, but it's impossible to predict your chances.
