Casino Offers with OBC

My husband and I are considering a 4-day trip with $1000 OBC offered through a casino deal. We would not be able to spend that much even with a steakhouse dinner and drinks. It’s a small ship (Miracle) so no other specialty dining and my family isn’t interested in Chefs Table. 

 

Is there a way to play with it in the casino? Even if we had to pay a fee to use it?

I use OBC in the casino all the time.

Yes, just charge it to your sail and sign card at the machine or buy chips for the tables at the cashier.

^^^ this is the way. There's no fee if you charge money to your room with your Sail and Sign card at the slot or video poker machines. The on board credit will cover your casino charges.

 

You could do a couple hundred here and there over the course of the cruise and it won't be an issue at all. Just give them some play (ie. don't charge $200 and immediately cash it out at the cage without playing at all).

You can also use it to buy gift cards which you can use later on. Good option so you don't feel compelled to spend it - doesn't have to be "use it or lose it "

You can also charge all your OBC to the slot machine and then cash out.  Next go to the cashier and cash in your account.  Now you take the money home with you and spend it anyway you want.

Are you sure it's OBC and not Freeplay that has to be used in the casino? Where did you get this offer? Through Carnival Player's Club?

Your posting title says Casino Offer OBC.  I have never heard of the Casino giving OBC.

This would be something new to me.  What the casino promos provide is free play which is to be used in the casino to gamble.  If I were you I would clarify the terms of your offer before you start running up bills for special meals and onboard shops only to find out later that the Casino $ cannot be used towards your purchases.

One of the casino offers I book for cruises or cabins that you can’t use the free balcony offer for includes $1500 OBC. I think I have 4 booked with this offer, it’s $750 for cruises under 6 days. It doesn’t include Fun Play but is 20% off casino rates which works great for suites or a Havana cabin. If you use the OBC in the casino you do earn points which is another plus.

Thanks for the information.  As I said in my post a casino obc offer would be new to me.  We have offers up to free suites and Elite cruises with free play but not obc. I will have to take a look at the discounted cabin offers.

We get free rooms, but are charged for the ports fees. The fees are given back to us through obc.

These offers are  through Carnival players club? I'm still not understanding . If you're gambling enough to generate these kinds of offers through Carnival why aren't you familiar with how to use OBC on a Carnival cruise? These aren't from Players Club. I get (and book) these kind of casino offers, too, and have never dropped a penny in a Carnival (or any ship) casino. Well, not quite true - went to casino on my first Carnival cruise in 1993, but I don't think that's where the offers come from.

The offers I get do not include Freeplay or drinks - they include OBC that covers the port fees and taxes as @john91498 mentioned. Sometimes they have extra OBC so that after getting the room free and covering port fees and taxes, I can  actually cover grats and possibly even some specialty dining and excursions.

Thanks for explaining that. As someone who's familiar with landed based casino programs from, Caesars Entertainment, MGM, Hard Rock, Venetian, Live, and 3rd party casino hosts such as UR Comped as well as the cruiselines own programs, I'm curious where these kinds of offers are coming from. 

For reference although my husband isn't a huge whale we've been reporting W2-G winnings in the low 6 figures for over 5 consecutive years(obviously not paying taxes on the full reported winnings) so he's not a small gambler and are interested in different sources of complementaries. We cruise at least 8x a year, all comped cruises, for the past 10 years.

I'm not sure, it says exclusive Carnival Players Club offer. It includes free drinks in the casino too.

Ok, but usually those offers aren't with a fully comped room. Didn't you have to pay a for the room and port fees and taxes?

You pay the cruise fare of $200 and that is returned to you as OBC.  Port fees are not return due to a casino offer.  Some port fees are returned due to overpayment by the cruiseline and those are reimbursed to everyone on board, not just casino offers.

You don't need to play in the casino regularly to get casino offers, once does it.

I know what you're talking about, we do those Carnival casino cruises all the time. We're on a 30 day TP on the Luminosa in a spa cabin that's free and includes drinks everywhere on the ship for 2, $1,000 freeplay, and the $200 obc which is the deposit you're talking about. 

We've done Multiple Elite cruises too. It's the way that the offer was described that unusual.
