Leaving also on 9/14 on Jewel out of Cape Liberty heading to CA & Greenland.  More than likely we will find out something at the same time as you since we are both headed north.

I am wearing out my email expecting to hear something from RCCL.  Nothing yet, so we will pack our suitcases and move forward.

Cool, What time do you arrive at Newark Penn? 3pm for us coming from the South. We get on where the train originates at Roanoke, Va.

Didn't want to hassle with Air Flights, etc. Always delayed for one reason or another.

Arriving about 2:15 pm from Boston. I would rather take a train anytime.

Cruises are not cancelled, but re-routed.  It can be disappointing to miss the ports one has booked for, but there is still a cruise.

Sorry, I should've been clearer. I meant if the passenger chooses to cancel.

Vision of the Seas: An Update To Your Itinerary

About Your Upcoming Travels
space

Dear Guest,

We’re excited to welcome you onboard for our Vision of the Seas September 14th, 2023 sailing. Before we set sail together, we have some important updates to share.

As you know, we’re continuing to monitor adverse weather from Hurricane Lee with our Chief Meteorologist, Craig Setzer. Please know, the safety and well-being of our guests and crew members remain our highest priority.

To ensure we have a safe journey and stay well away from Hurricane Lee’s path, we’ve adjusted our itinerary to go South instead of North. We’ll now overnight in Baltimore, Maryland, and proceed to Port Canaveral, Florida for our new and exciting itinerary!

Additionally, we’ll now visit Nassau, and sail to our beautiful private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Although we’ll depart from Baltimore on September 15th, guests are still required to board and remain onboard on September 14th as scheduled. We’re truly sorry for any inconvenience caused by this. Nevertheless, we’re excited to sail away with you! Below, please find our revised Vision of the Seas September 14th, 2023 itinerary.

I truly do understand that this is for safety reasons, but I'm so bummed. Switching from NE/Canada to Florida and the Bahamas is a pretty massive change. Trying super hard to look at the positive and remind myself that I love sea days.

Was that the Vision's original itinerary? That is a huge change, and yes, I wouldn't be happy either. I hope they're given the option to cancel. We're scheduled for Canada/Greenland on the Jewel, and if they send us south, we're not interested.

Yes, here is more info.

The decision to modify our itinerary was not taken lightly. We’ve done everything possible to minimize the impact to your time with us, and we’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience. To help make up for these changes, we’re providing you with a 1-day refund in the form of an Onboard Credit if you sail. This credit will be automatically placed in your SeaPass account.

We understand how much effort and time goes into planning your vacation. If you decide to cancel your sailing, we’ll be sad to see you go, but we will provide a full refund, including non-refundable deposits.

So instead of sweaters and long pants for Canada. I need to repack for the south

If they send the Jewel south, I am not very prepared, and I just arrived today in Newark. I sail solo, and will stay on the ship for my double points, but am not really a hot weather Caribbean person.

Either am I. I wear shorts in January/February while running around town doing errands.

That's very fair of them. I hope they offer us the same. We'd cancel.

Wow, gone are the days when we got a $400 OBC for arriving at a couple ports 2 hours late in a Christmas cruise.

When was this? In 2021 on a Christmas cruise they skipped 1 port and had 0 entertainment due to Omicron and all we got was like $20 for port fees .... multiple emails to Michael Bayley amounted to a bunch of sorrys and nothing else

Freedom of the Seas Dec 21, 2014.  Azipod issues.  Almost a free cruise.  They screwed up on the pricing and we got a balcony for $728 taxes included Canadian (and honoured it) and then got $400 usd OBC for being a bit late to a few ports....the good old days

Not what I WANTED to hear, but not expected.  I do not like those ports.  Been there, done that too many times.

My DH was super excited about his whale excursion.  Sad that it isn't happening.

Our discussion is that he said we should proceed after unpacking and repacking

Mine is:  let's take the credit and stay home.

Nope...we are going.  Ugh

Anyone have experience with ensuring that any onboard credit from our credit cards is used first?  I do not think they are refundable.

Thank you.

See you onboard??

No worries about using nonrefundable obc first. .. though it doesnt seem to me they are being generous. You can cash out unused obc in the casino anyway.
