Churchill's Cigar Lounge Closed

For anyone traveling on the Royal Princess!

Princess Cruises have closed the Churchill Cigar Lounge and turned it into an Arcade for children. There is no longer anywhere to enjoy a cigar on the ship except up on Deck 17 AFT with all of the cigarette smokers. Absolutely terrible decision by Princess.

  • majcigar changed the title to Churchill's Cigar Lounge Closed

Sooo. What did they do with the kids lounge that was already where the arcade games and such were located?

Would be quite strange to move that to next to the Club and casino..

Of course, with the ship moving to Australia, Churchill s wouldn't allow smoking anyway as no indoor smoking anywhere on the ship..

Correct; I think Royal leaves next week for NZ & Aust.

So, as you say, no smoking inside.

Churchills onboard Coral Princess is currently a GREAT area.

Comfy chairs, large windows overlooking promenade deck to the ocean, and right by Crooners for a drink.

It was a VERY popular area to sit.

Was not a decision made by Princess.  Let's not blame the blameless.

I'm on the ship and it was absolutely a decision made by Princess. They said that they did this so they could go to Australia and New Zealand. They should have just closed the area while they were in those countries.

Is this going to be a trend or not?  It would make more sense to ban smoking in casino and keep the closed-in, ventilated room for the smokers.  Didn't realize a ship sailing out of Australia cannot have smoking indoors.  Is this applicable when ship leaves Australian waters?  Why can't we see this rule in North America?  There is no smoking in hotels, airports, airlines, etc.  Even some casinos as I understand it.

What are you talking about?   The ship leaves North America next week. And it will have a whole lot of sea days between leaving from Vancouver and arriving in Australia.  Do you think that they are going to helicopter in the video games over the Pacific Ocean?  Of COURSE this is a repurposing that has to take place in North America. The logistics of doing it elsewhere are just too much to deal with.

We board Grand Princess soon and are looking forward to a smoke-free environment inside. I don't understand why it "works" in Australia but they allow indoor smoking every day in the casino in the US.
