tbtma Posted February 7 #1 Share Posted February 7 (edited) Took advantage of a VIFP players club offer. Unfortunately only inside cabin was available & I think I'm ok with an inside (haven't cruised on an inside cabin in probably 30 years) Just wondering if anyone ever gets an upgrade offer when booking this kinda rate ? Thanks ! Bonzo Edited February 7 by tbtma mistake

mz-s Posted February 7 #3 Share Posted February 7 usually the free inside cabins are last minute fill the ship deals so unlikely to get an upgrade offer tbh.
Elaine5715 Posted February 7 #4 Share Posted February 7 Upsell calls are always based on cabin type and location booked and underselling categories. The Upsell Sales department computer does not care what offer you used.
6045pjp Posted February 7 #5 Share Posted February 7 I recently booked on a casino offer for up to balcony room, however only rooms available were interiors, so I booked a cloud 9 spa interior. In this situation, would it be possible to check if balcony becomes available, since the offer was originally for a balcony? Cruise doesn't depart until early 2025. You could but you could also lose any perks from the original booking. Booking perks don't transfer when you upsell yourself.
Vahevala Posted February 7 #7 Share Posted February 7 Two weeks before sailing last August on Players club offer we received offer moving from lowly obstructed balcony to an unobstructed balcony many decks up for $66. We quickly paid the $66.

If you're "upgrading yourself": Before final payment you can re-fare to any available offer without losing anything, including a non-refundable deposit. Of course you lose the perks associated with the old offer and get those associated with the new offer. After final payment you would lose at least your deposit and current perks to rebook another fare. I guess that could be worthwhile if the perks and/or cabin category were significantly better. If you accept an upsell offer from Carnival you keep all the perks associated with the fare you booked at.
audcc77 Posted February 8 #10 Share Posted February 8 I booked a last minute free inside guarantee on an Alaskan cruise 7 days last July. surprisingly, we received an inside deck 7 (I think) when we arrived at port, and the room had a couch and very large windows. We did not get a room assignment until we arrived at the port. We had a lifeboat blocking our view, but I was happy with it. I never booked guarantees, because I’m afraid of what I’ll get. I would consider this an upgrade.

Well, I can't address what "usually" happens, but in November, I booked a last-minute "free" 10-night cruise over Christmas (Dec 18-28) in an interior cabin on Venezia, and on the Friday before the Monday departure, I received an upgrade offer to a Terrazza category cabin at the rear of Deck 6 with an enormous wrap-around balcony. It was only $250/pp and I leapt at the opportunity.

So not much time for an upgrade offer.
