jkhabc Posted February 17 #1 Share Posted February 17 Hello All, I have the opportunity to visit Europe and I'd LOVE to visit Venice,Dubrovnik,Barcelona and Marseille BUT I cant find any cruise line that visits these places in a short time(ie 7-10 days not 16). Because Ive already been to Rome,Florence,Athens,Sicily,Naples,Cinque Terre,so I dont need to spend time in those ports. Does anyone have any ideas?Ive only ever cruised in Australia. Thankyou
Rare Essiesmom Posted February 17 #2 Share Posted February 17 Your problem is that Barcelona and Marseille are western Mediterranean ports, and entice and Dubrovnik are eastern Mediterranean ports. You won’t find a seven day cruise that does both. You will have to make a choice. Suggest you go to cruisetimetables.com and use ‘cruises to’ to choose the ports you want to visit. Then choose when you want to go, and it will tell you who calls there and their itinerary. EM
jkhabc Posted February 17 Author #3 Share Posted February 17 Does anyone know a cruise line that visits Barcelona,Marseille,Venice and Dubrovnik? I'll be in that area Sept/Oct this year and cant find anything for 7-10 nights that visits all these ports
MBP&O2/O Posted February 17 #4 Share Posted February 17 Cruisetimetables.com may assist.
leaveitallbehind Posted February 17 #5 Share Posted February 17 Agree that it may be difficult to include that geographically wide range of ports in a single short cruise. Those that include Barcelona and Marseilles likely won't include Venice and Dubrovnik, and visa versa. Typically the Western Mediterranean cruises with Barcelona and Marseilles in the itinerary would also include Western Italy with Naples and Rome, as example. Those that include the Eastern Mediterranean with Venice and Dubrovnik typically include the Greek Isles, as example, as well. I would also suggest talking with a travel agent to see what your options may be, but likely a longer cruise (10 - 14 days?) would be necessary to include ports of call from both regions.
Rare Hlitner Posted February 17 #6 Share Posted February 17 You will not find such an itinerary in a cruise that short. It is a simple matter of geography. Also keep in mind that Venice has become somewhat of a problem port since Venice has now banned cruise ships from its normal port. Most cruises that show "Venice" on their itinerary are actually going to places like Ravenna and Trieste...which are quite a distance from Venice. Keep in mind that cruise ship itineraries are generally based on cruising speeds of no more than 18 knots (and slower speeds are preferred to save fuel) and it is about 600 miles between Dubrovnik and Venice (and this is only a small part of your desired itinerary. I agree with both points, it will be hard to find a cruise that short with those diverse ports and that a travel agent should be consulted. A good cruise specialist travel agent should be able to look at the itineraries of all cruise lines and be able to come closest to finding something that will work out for you. I say closest because I agree that a 7 day cruise won't be found with all those ports. You will either have to take more days or eliminate some of the ports. tropicalkerry2002 Posted February 18 #8 Share Posted February 18 In 2007, my first cruise ever was an Oceania 14 day, Venice to Barcelona, that went to all those ports. Did it again in 2017, but not sure Dubrovnik was on it that time.

Those extra 4 to 7 days make a big difference. Edited February 18 by navybankerteacher

It could perhaps happen if you are on a teeny tiny ship or a river cruise, as I believe these smaller ships/boats still use San Basilio in the city itself.
