3red7s Posted April 23 #1 Share Posted April 23 Hello folks, We are leaving on the Grandeur of the Seas (an oldie, but hopefully, a goodie) on June 16th out of Tampa. We are hoping to buy a couple bottle of wines prior to cruising. It looks like there is some shopping on Channelside. Question: Is it an easy enough walk to go to the store, drag our luggage behind us & buy some wine, then back to the dock to board? (we are not in our 20's)

(we are not in our 20's) Assuming there is a liquor/wine store in the Channelside shopping center (I can't recall what all stores are in that shopping center), it is very walkable, especially since it looks like you will go out of terminal 2. I'm pretty sure I also remember seeing a wine store a couple blocks from there in the downtown area which is a flat area with sidewalks.

Also consider leaving one person at the dock with the luggage while sending the other one to get the wine.
Bertaelflamingo Posted April 23 #4 Share Posted April 23 There is a Publix Greenwise grocery store about 3 blocks from the port. It is in the ground floor of The Heron building. Publix has a great selection of wine. I’m not sure if this location has a liquor store as well. And it’s totally walkable from the port.

As mentioned, have one person check in the luggage and wait at the terminal while the second person gets the wine (with nothing but a simple bag). neverbeenhere Posted April 24 #6 Share Posted April 24 We always head for Ybor City when cruising from Tampa. BTW: The shopping in Tampa Bay is a bit fishy. 1

We are docking on NCL Jewel at 7;00 a.m. on Sunday,Nov. 24th and wonder if booking an 11:40 a.m. flight is advisable? I would guess there would not be too much traffic on a Sunday morning? Yes, you can make that flight if you are able to self-disembark off the ship that morning and then take a taxi or rideshare to the airport. If you are someone who puts their luggage in the ship's hallway the night before and have to await your group to be called that morning, then you're taking a chance of not making the flight. Thanks for the info. We will decide once on the ship depending on times available to disembark. If we can't get earliest time off the ship then we will do what you suggest and do the self-disembark.

Sunday road traffic will be light at that hour; 20-25 minutes to the airport. Inside the airport on a Sunday mornings, things are not very busy before Noon. The American Thanksgiving holiday is later that week but should have minimal impact on the Sunday prior. You will have plenty of time as long as you get off the ship before most everyone else.
