What's the primary language on Mediterranean cruises on Princess?

Many years ago, we cruised on Costa out of Venice and all announcements were made in at least five languages.  Because of the diverse nationalities of the cruisers,  they didn't have comedians or acts based on communicating via language.

We're looking at cruising the Mediterranean on Princess in 2025.  Does Princess only made announcements in english?  Do they have english speaking comedians, etc?

The only times we’ve heard dual languages used on Princess cruises were on the Diamond when we were doing a B2B around Japan last summer where they had two CDs and provided information and comedy sketches in both English and Japanese, and on our recent Antarctica/SA cruise on the Sapphire where the CD made announcements in both English and Spanish. However, I believe the CD only spoke English on our 21-day Med cruise in July 2022.

Carnival Corp lines:

Aida - German

Costa - Italian / English

CSSC - Mandarin

All others (Carnival, Cunard, Princess, PO, POAU, Seabourn) - English everywhere in the world

English definitely.

Funny:  On Costa, it drove us crazy… ALL the announcements!

Once, they made an announcement in Italian and never repeated it in English, so I asked what the announcement was about.  They said, “Oh, if it was important, they would have announced it in English!”

🤣

The interesting thing is that many of the senior deck officers on Princess are Italian and when they make the noon position reports (on sea days), they speak English with a strong Italian accent.

On our Costa cruises English was the third or fourth language used for announcements. For us it was, in no particular order; Italian, Spanish, English, French and German.

DW is a native speaker for English and is fluent in Spanish and can understand some French and Italian. I can understand some Spanish. It was fun for us to listen carefully to all the announcements and decided if they were substantially the same in each language.

Fly Lufthansa or Air France and hear all airplane announcements in both German and English, or French and English.  I haven't flown on Emirates or Etihad so don't know if announcements are in Arabic and English.

We did a Norwegian Fjords cruise on Princess a few years ago.  All announcements, including the muster drill, which was only done in person at that time, were done in both English and Spanish.  Not sure if it was done that way on all Fjord cruises, but on our cruise there was a very large contingent of passengers from Spain.  The following week on our British Isles cruise announcements were only made in English.

Fly Air Canada and Westjet it’s English and French.  People tend to forget that Canada is a bi-lingual country.
