I am not sure why folks discount the exercise classes, which are $30 each or the desserts. Yes, we have premiere on both of our upcoming cruises and have had plus and just cruise and premiere on the last 3 cruises. So, I think you have to think about what you will be doing, I for one will be eating yummy cake and ice creams and doing all the classes I can put into my schedule, and of course getting photos taken at all the venues where there is a camera. Not that I do anything with the photos, but I will have them as a memory. So, if you want to do everything I think premiere is the way to go, We are in a suite and I still think it is worth it, even with the suite lounge and suite breakfast, still like having all the other items to be included, not free, just included.

I'm with you.  I love having photos and my partner can be a bit cheap about that (thinks phone camera pictures are as good as professional ones).

I love treating myself to cake and ice cream.

I also love a good stretching session or morning yoga on the deck overlooking the ocean.

To me all these things enhance the experience.

Plus if there is an Alfredo's on board, I go back over and over so that I can get eat the veal dish as many times as I can manage 🙂

As far as I know the casual meals at Alfredo’s is only the pre fixe menu of appetizer, pizza and dessert I have not seen  a veal dish listed as part of the pre fixe

The pasta pockets filled with veal.  They don't force you to order three courses.  I eat that every day and sometimes twice a day.  Check for it on the Alfredo's menu if you are on a royal class ship.

I will be on a Grand class ship with an Alfredo’s in about a week with the plus package and will see

In my experience only the royal class ships offer the pasta.  On grand class ships Alfredo's /Gigi usually has a smaller menu, no pasta, only pizza.

But I have eaten the veal fish with my package on every Royal class ship in the fleet

We avoid Royal class ships unless it is an itinerary we really really like. The crowds and noise level in all the venues around the piazza is really unbearable

Perfect in every way.

I'm a bit salty that apparently the new ships aren't going to offer the pasta in spite of the fancy pasta making station.

I intend to ask for it on every survey until I wear the powers that be down.

Just curious, does anyone know if the Discovery Princess has an O'Malleys now? If so, we can use this on the premiere as much as we like, correct? It looks like such a great venue, I am so hopeful that the Discovery will have one if not now but soon.

Is it worth it to upgrade from the plus package to the premier package?  Are the alcohol upgrade worth it?  How about wine choices? Overall is it worth the extra $20 per day.

One thing to consider is the length of the cruise. On a 4 night, it’s a clear value just for the two specify dinners. On longer cruises, it varies. I personally don’t see the value for alcohol because I drink few cocktails. If I am going to order three glasses of wine a day that cost $20 because the Plus Package wine isn’t appealing, it’s also an obvious savings over paying the upcharge by the glass.

Got the free cruise on a 4 night leg of a long trip out of Melbourne in the fall. Definitely got the $80 worth over Plus on that one.

We’ve won a cruise and &25 OBC a couple of times.
It’s probably better than the casino.

Here are the details on the odds of winning a prize. The free cruise is 1 in 100,000

Sailed on Discovery last April. No O'Malley's. Looking at the deck plans on the Princess site there is still no O'Malley's.

I have heard of, and seen,  different variations on the veal pasta pockets.

Finally tried it on Regal...  and it was the version that was like little tiny square ravioli.

It was good, but was I wowed... no...  being from the. south, beef and gravy have been common.  And, the version of the veal on Regal tasted more like that than what most would think of 'Italian'.

This veal pasta option is not on the menu on the Sun.

I could still go to Alfredos several times and try different Pizzas and dishes!!!

I disagree, and I am Italian.  Born and raised in Italy, left when I was a teenager.  The veal dish reminds me of my grandmother's cooking.  Comfort food.  But tastes vary greatly.

@Shaver John, I believe Discovery recently converted the SaltyDogGastroPub to O’Malley’s. Princess website is notorious for being out of date or not updated especially regarding deck plans.

Example, website deck plans still show Ruby having steam and sauna in changing rooms by fitness center. They were removed during the last Drydock.

Having Premier Pkg last time on Discovery, I did visit Gastropub often, but was just on Enchanted last May and June and enjoyed O’Malley’s even better. Yes, with Premier, you can enjoy unlimited. Believe I ate at O’Malley’s everyday! Was able to go for Onion rings and Chicken wings as a pre or after MDR snack.

Unfortunately space is limited, so try and grab seating at least 1/2 hour before food service, if going to try eating there.

Journey, That is amazing!!!!  I love Alfredo's!

I don't think the version of Veal Pockets that I had is the one that most are familiar with. I have heard of it being changed, or different versions.

Of course I am no expert on 'Italian'...  But maybe this dish is from the region (Emilia)  that the restaurant in Rome, Colline Emeliane serves.

(forgive me if I show my ignorance!)

I'll keep my answer simple: if you care about good wine, then YES it's worth it.

Aaaaannnnnnddddd... There it is. Showing on Deck 5. My bad. We would have given it a try in April if it had been there. Of course they have also now ruined Take 5. (That really peeves me greatly.)

Do you know the hours for O'Malleys off hand?  I confess I haven't tried it yet.  I like the gastropub menu much better though.  Lobster Mac n cheese was yum!

One of my gripes with the new Sun Princess is that in my opinion, they should have more than two casual dining options.  Instead they added quite a few very expensive venues that are not even covered by the premium package.  I'm not planning to drop a lot of money trying all the expensive, off plan options.  I feel they are trying to fleece their captive audience just a bit too much.
