Tinknock50 Posted July 10, 2006 #26 Share Posted July 10, 2006 LOL This is getting comical.....this is what it says when you go anywhere on the site. And no matter where you go it pops up: "The page you requested cannot be found We have recently made changes to the Holland America Line web site, and the page you are looking for may no longer be available or has moved. Please go to www.hollandamerica.com to find what you were looking for and see what our new site has to offer.
gizmo Posted July 10, 2006 #27 Share Posted July 10, 2006 At least they put a message on their home page.
sail7seas Posted July 10, 2006 #28 Share Posted July 10, 2006 You would think so wouldn't you ? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what is wrong. What is it that is wrong?
sail7seas Posted July 10, 2006 #29 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Someone asked what the wait time is now for a call to HAL. Has does 2-3 DAYS sound? For shore excursions. Very frustrating! And disappointing. Am I ever happy I decided to take care of our bookings last week. I was annoyed about 'Hang on H--l" last Wednesday......can't even imagine how bad it is this week. Tinknock50 Posted July 10, 2006 #30 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Due to technical difficulties, www.hollandamerica.com is not currently available. To learn more about Holland America Line, please visit our Online Cinema. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. Please try again in the next 24 hours. Finally they have the proper message:rolleyes: I am not a computer nerd, but wouldn't there have been some way to post that message earlier? That way people would have stopped trying to navigate the site.
jhannah Posted July 10, 2006 #31 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Visit Online Cinema?? Ha!!! That "can't be displayed" either!!!
elmorejj Posted July 10, 2006 #32 Share Posted July 10, 2006 No wonder pax book their excursions themselves instead of with HAL. Saves money, and definitely saves the frustration of not being able to get on the website. .....jean:cool:
Atomica Posted July 10, 2006 #33 Share Posted July 10, 2006 It's too bad the Internet wasn't around at the same time as Monty Python was writing their skits - I'm sure they would have had some fun with this! :)

AlohaPride Posted July 10, 2006 #35 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Well, they took off the "out of order" warning, but its still running slower than a state employee  j/k
RuthC Posted July 10, 2006 #36 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Well, they took off the "out of order" warning, but its still running slower than a state employee  j/k j/k or no j/k, watch it, AP! I used to be one of those! ;) The question I always heard was "workin' hard? or hardly workin'?"
AlohaPride Posted July 10, 2006 #37 Share Posted July 10, 2006 The "broken" message is baaaaaack . . . I'm so happy I finished buying my $500 + worth of shore excursions before this website fiasco.
bdcbbq Posted July 10, 2006 #38 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Keep in mind that no matter how frustrated we are, there are a lot of HAL employees pretty frustrated too. Telephone is made at IT, IT is mad at Web Design, Sales hates them both, Marketing is furious, and all the VPs are busting everyone's chops who work for them. Stein Kruse, President and Chief Executive Officer is jumping on the VPs and to top it off he's doing it from the Penthouse Suite on a Cunard ship.:)
TerriRN Posted July 10, 2006 #39 Share Posted July 10, 2006 I know it's hard to believe - but people actually cruised, scheduled travel plans and performed numerous other tasks before the internet. Now we stress out when the internet fails us for even a few days. That's because it seems to be a few days every week! It is frustrating and will frankly make me think twice about booking with them again unless this, our first HAL cruise, just knocks my sox off. dance4fun Posted July 11, 2006 #40 Share Posted July 11, 2006 Actually before it says it can not find the page, it throws a Java script error saying it is expected a closed curly bracket. If HAL is interested my IE is version 6.0.3790.

andigene Posted July 11, 2006 #42 Share Posted July 11, 2006 I just tried to log into their website (3 pm, eastern time) and the following is posted: Due to technical difficulties, http://www.hollandamerica.com is not currently available. elmorejj Posted July 11, 2006 #43 Share Posted July 11, 2006 Well I got on OK at about 2pm. Was able to access about three pages, then when I went to price a cruise it hung up and timed out........jean:cool:
HeatherInFlorida Posted July 11, 2006 #44 Share Posted July 11, 2006 They still have the orange notice on their homepage as of this moment. Such a disappointment because I was all set to really settle into reading about excursions. Does anyone know how far out from your cruise you can book shore excursions? Is it before or after payment? I did call Ship's Services to link up some reservations for the dining room. I waited no more than a minute. I was amazed!

Chorts Posted July 12, 2006 #46 Share Posted July 12, 2006 but it's not........Everything goes along fine until you enter your booking number and name. The next page comes up and says to correct any errors and that the session has timed out. There was only maybe one second between clicking logon and error page. It just goes round and round. <sigh>
KAKcruiser Posted July 12, 2006 #47 Share Posted July 12, 2006 I just can't believe a company thinks it can do business this way. A web site is essential and I haven't been able to access cruise prices for four days. I can understand a temporary glitch but this is getting ridiculous. KAKcruiser Posted July 12, 2006 #48 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Right after I wrote this, I got onto the HAL web site and it worked really well. I hope it stays this way.

Frogger22 Posted July 12, 2006 #50 Share Posted July 12, 2006 I just successfully booked a tour online. No problems at all. Once I got on, took less than 5 minutes and received email confirmation immediately. Let's hope the website stays up and happy! Happy Travels!
