RevNeal Posted September 2, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2006 A minster starts to feel old when s/he realizes that a baby who they baptized during their first year in the ministry is now standing in front of them, exchanging marriage vows. :) This happened to me last month. cruisergrandma Posted September 2, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2006 Hi Toad! I appreciate your post and I have a question. As you can tell by my login I am not new to cruising but, I am new to HAL. All previous cruises have been Carnival. Does HAL really expect you to stay in formal wear all evening on formal nights? Does anyone say anything to you if you don't? On Carnival we have always stayed in formal wear for dinner, photos and the show. Then we changed to casual wear for the casino. Is this a problem on HAL?

GarySuzy Posted September 2, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 2, 2006 All right - I'll confess up that we are old!! KK you can't be old your post always are full of energy. Your only as old as you feel - and on a cruise I feel like I'm in my 20's again.
lougee1043 Posted September 2, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 2, 2006 Does HAL really expect you to stay in formal wear all evening on formal nights? Does anyone say anything to you if you don't? quote] according to hal - the dress code of the evening is in effect for the entire evening ----------there are many posters on this board who believe in and follow "rule" this poster included ---however there are pax who do change after dinner to go to the show or casino - the no shorts or sweat suit rule is also in effect after 5pm in the public areas regardless of the dress code of the evening- imo you will find that more pax on a hal ship adhere to the dress code for the entire evening then on carnival lastly welcome to all the newbies

I do have a question from my DW - we looked at a 30 rt SAN - Tahiti, she wants to know what to do on the 6 days at sea, my answer of just enjoy it does not seem to help. I just really enjoy sea days comes from my year long cruise in the 70's.

I just really enjoy sea days comes from my year long cruise in the 70's. There will be all sorts of ship board activities. There will be movies, organized games, probably some lectures, gym, music, Explorations Cafe and card playing, books, DVD's, galley tours, open casino, conversation, eating ;) drinking ;) and all sorts of public and private activities --- pick the ones you enjoy. :) Have a blast. I had a little trouble reading your post........do you mean a 30 day round trip SAN ??? (San Diego ?) to Tahiti cruise??? That's the best I can make out of that. Is that what you mean? Thanks. I just really enjoy sea days comes from my year long cruise in the 70's. GarySuzy we took this wonderful cruise earlier this year. It was so amazing. There is so much to do on the sea days. Lectures given by experts in the area you are visiting and so much more. We had an astronomer on this cruise and there were interesting lectures and meeting to go up in the early am or late night to see the Southern Cross and other celestial wonders. It was great fun. The organized activities are always in place for those so inclined. The un-organized activities can be alot of fun also. My DH is not an activities person, he will however, spend all six sea days finding new places to snooze on the cruise. There is plenty for all to do or not do as you please. Enjoy your cruise. lb0103 Posted September 2, 2006 #22 Share Posted September 2, 2006 I am not a "newbee" or and oldbee, kinda a inbetweenbee. I loved the comment on working with people that are as young as your grandchildren. I don't have grandchildren yet though so I can laugh at that. My question is if I preorder my wine a 5 bottle pkg for a 7 day cruise, will I have to pay the 15% up front when it is charged? I feel like you do I can talk about cruising ANYTIME, ANYPLACE, ANYWHERE. I have never gone hungry on any cruise, I have always found something to do, and if I don't like one place or shop or bar or .........whatever, there are many more spots to discover and enjoy. DH's favorite pass time on sea days is to fine the most out of the way place and snore.
