RCCLCARIB Posted August 18, 2007 Author #26 Share Posted August 18, 2007 Where did this info come from? I totally agree.......I hope you do realize LATER that RCCL built the world headquarters in Miami when Dodge Island was built. They have recently spent millions upgrading the facility with new computer systems.........I seriously doubt they are moving to LA....where they have 2 ships vs. 8-12 ships around Port Canaveral to Miami every year. RevSmith Posted August 19, 2007 #29 Share Posted August 19, 2007 I thought it was a done deal...it would go out of Lauderdale...oh well, this won't be the first time I was wrong...guess I'll wait for the results. Thanks for the article. Rev
TallTwosome Posted August 19, 2007 #30 Share Posted August 19, 2007 As big as the SOB is, passengers will be able to board the bow end in Miami, and the stern end in Ft Lauderdale...

hawkfish Posted August 19, 2007 #34 Share Posted August 19, 2007 ROFL!!! Maybe what we don't know about the Genesis class is that it will have wheels and will sometimes ROLL to the water!!:D   :D They could just pick up everyone at the airport, and then roll to the coast. That would take care of the 'MIA is hard to get to' argument. :D
RevSmith Posted August 19, 2007 #35 Share Posted August 19, 2007 I'd love it to be Ft. Lauderdale...but we shall see.

later Posted August 20, 2007 #37 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Related to the info on the RCCL cruise lines headquarters being moved to LA it was in an article in the Orlando Sentinel about 3 weeks ago. The article also discussed the repositioning of the Mariner which to most of us is old news. With the way reporters get their facts lately who knows if the story is true or not. Companies spend milliions of dollars in remodeling and still move. It doesn't mean they wouldn't still have an office and staff in Miami. I only know what I saw in the article and that is all I was commenting on.
Rare hcat Posted August 21, 2007 #38 Share Posted August 21, 2007 Hope it goes to Miami since we will never cruise on her & have decided not to cruise from that port anymore-too hard to get to & too many hassles...pls keep Lauderdale for the nicer sized cruise ships! Also hope it never goes to any port we are in--too many people at once...just bad! Sort of like "Containerized" cruising!

BethV114 Posted August 21, 2007 #41 Share Posted August 21, 2007 I would like to do a write in and vote for Cape Liberty, year round . I know we won't get the first Genesis class ship, but we'd gladly take the second!
logan1_2000 Posted August 21, 2007 #42 Share Posted August 21, 2007 I'd rather it go out of any port over Miami, but please, please send it to Port Canaveral! I love how uncongested PC is. Ditto. I don't expect that Genesis will go out of PC, but the Poll asked what I WANTed to see happen, and that is PC, which is a budget-saving 7 1/2 hr drive rather than a trip requiring airline travel. But It will end up in Miami most likely, I expect.

bambam2972 Posted October 30, 2007 #44 Share Posted October 30, 2007 I said Miami because that one seems to just make sense. I hope it's not Port Canaveral because I don't care to sail on the Genesis, but prefer to only drive to PC. :)

GMoney Posted October 31, 2007 #46 Share Posted October 31, 2007 What little I was told sounds amazing, but I still will not sail on this ship after the pre-inaugural -- too many people for me. I didn't realize the invites had gone out...:D
rednancy1 Posted October 31, 2007 #47 Share Posted October 31, 2007 I think the Genesis will be based in Port Everglades although I would rather it be in Las Vegas. :p
rednancy1 Posted October 31, 2007 #48 Share Posted October 31, 2007 Okay, let me clarify that. :) The bow of the ship should be in LA and the aft in Las Vegas. That's fair.
Rare angelsil Posted October 31, 2007 #49 Share Posted October 31, 2007 I wish it were PC (much closer drive) but I, too, am guessing Miami. It's a rare day that a new class of ship doesn't homeport in Miami. They're used to the rah-rah and the increased traffic and all that.
EggDropErin Posted October 31, 2007 #50 Share Posted October 31, 2007 I want Port Canaveral to get it...that's less than a 4 hour drive from my in-laws' house down there! :D
