What would you pick? Eastern caribbean with a balcony room or Southern caribbean with an inside room? Trying to decide...

A baloncy is always nice. Depends, do you smoke? If yes, then take the balcony. I would take the so.coarribean with a balcony if you can afford it

A balcony cost more than it's worth .I know "I like to have breakfast on the balcony" That is an expensive breakfast. I would rather have an inside or a promanade cabin and go on 2 cruises a year instead of one. There are plenty of nice places to sit and relax and enjoy the view from the public places that are pretty private. How long do you spend in your cabin? The southern carribean is so much better.

Breakfast on the balcony is not really as "romantic" and easy as it sounds! There is no dining table, so eating is messy at best!

But--a balcony is a must, IMO! Why even be on the high seas if you can't readily access the view!??

Take the better cabin and the 7 day!!!!

It might help you to know that every week when we read our comment cards, 70% of all complaints on all subjects come from occupants of inside cabins. Considering that the percentage of inside cabins on most ships is far below 50% (below 25% on the newer ships), that is a worrisome fact.

mmmm... If time was not an issue, I would take the 9 day, but try for an OV guarantee or something like that. Then you may have a possibility for an upgrade to Balcony. On several cruises the OV Guarantee was almost as cheap as the We are getting ready to go on the POH. THe inside was only 50$ cheaper pp than the OV Guarantee. So we said - OK. Ended up with a balcony.

We have previously done OV guarantee on Carnival and bumped to Balcony.

For the 9 day...

A balcony is great... (have done 2 with..but my husband smokes, and it actually saves us money - he doesn't have to go the casino to smoke - :) )

The more days the merrier..IMO.

Have fun!

I'm in the minority here, but I would take the seven-night cruise with a balcony over the nine-night cruise with an inside cabin. We had an inside cabin on our first cruise and I swore I'd never cruise again if I had to sail with inside cabins. I NEED light shining in.

We have used oceanview cabins many times, though, and if I couldn't afford a balcony I would accept an oceanview. Try to get an ocean view guarantee. It might not cost much more than an inside. Try to get an ocean view with a bigger window.

Balconies are great but really, how much time do you spend in your room? I would take a longer cruise in an inside room anytime. We just went on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii in an inside room and I was dreading it. After one day I realized it wasn't so bad, we were hardly in the room, and we slept great!

Granted I've never been on anything but inside cabins, but I love them. I'd rather save my money and take the absolute least expensive cabin, and maybe do an extra shore excursion or shopping. Also, I love sleeping in the absolute pitch black...those nights of sleep on my cruises have been some of the best nights sleep I've ever had!

Give me two extra days in an inside cabin any day! Besides, the desire to see the sea gets me up and out of my room more quickly than I think I would if I had a window or a balcony...and then I'm out having more fun!

You'll probably be fine with an inside as long as you or anyone in your party doesn't get sick, and you are ordered to stay in your cabin....... Happened to us on our very first cruise. We had OV. I spent the majority of the time staring out the window. Because of this cruise, I will never cruise in an inside.

I have never heard anyone say "Once you try an inside cabin, you never go back." I would rather have a balcony for 7 days, than a closet for 9.

Some people can't afford balcony cabins. I can't afford a suite. However, I only get 4 weeks of vacation a year. I'm certainly not going to go cheap because "I only sleep there".

Since you have this opportunity to try a balcony cabin for the first time, go for it. Then you won't be wondering next time whether to go balcony or not. My guess is that you will :D

I've never been inside an inside cabin, but have viewed them through open doorways when the stewards are working in them. I can't imagine not being able to see outside and the light of day. Had an OV one time, after having a balcony cabin, and though we were lucky enough to have one that was unobstructed, it was still a long way from the pleasure of a balcony. We really use our balcony every day. Great place to sit in the sun, watching the sea or reading, and removed from the crowds on deck. We're not antisocial by any means, but we really enjoy having our quiet place to escape to.

I suppose I'd book an inside if it was the only way I could afford to cruise, but definitely would prefer not to.

Bottom line - Go with the 7 day cruise in a balcony cabin. This is your chance to try it.

I can afford a balcony in fact I had one twice and it was not worth it.I have had 4 window cabins no big deal. The other 18 have been inside and we have booked a 9 day in March and a 12 day Scandanvia-Russia in August. We have inside cabins for both. Southern is so much better than eastern the balcony shouldn't even come in too play.
