What to do on sea days

We'll be sailing on the Dream on 06/19/10. This will be our 3rd cruise (1st wth Carnival). OUr previous cruises had no sea days and this one has 3. Can anyone tell me what there is to do onboard during seadays?

There is plenty to do. They have activities on Lido deck and games in the theater. There are other activities also, ice carving, hairy chest contest and other games. You can also get a spa treatment if you are in to that. You get a better deal on those on port days though.

Personally, sea days are my favorite, as sitting out on the balcony is something we love to do. We go up to Lido deck, get some goodies to eat and chill out and gaze out at the ocean.

Hope you have a wonderful cruise.

The nice thing is you don't have to do ANYTHING. It's your vacation and you can just relax by the pool, reading a book, having a drink, napping, etc. It's an opportunity to slow down.

Sea days are the best - in my opinion! The more the better. I always try to look for a cruise that has many of them! (Hard to find sometimes) To me it's a chance to just relax and take it all in. They have so many activities available and things to do you won't be bored! It's great! Have fun!

My husband and I enjoy the wine tastings. On our last trip there was an old world wine tasting on one sea day and a new world wine tasting on another day. We have done the wine tastings on every cruise we've been on. Some are better than others, depending on the personality of the person conducting the seminar, but all have been fun and educational. There is a $10/pp charge for the wine tastings.

Check the daily schedule for all of the activities. There are usually more on sea days and it is hard to fit them all in.

I highlight those that really interest me so I won't forget them. In between, relax by the pool, read a book, nap in the shade and relax.

May sound corny, but one of my favorite things to do is go to the high tea on sea days. Usually around 3:00 in the afternoon. I usually need a snack and a break from the sun around then. Great yummy pastires, teas and some type of live music (Usually classical). Very relaxing and something different to do. The galley tour is interesting, go to the internet cafe and catch up on what the working class is doing back home, LOL! Check the capers, always something going on! Enjoy your cruise.

There are also plenty of seminars offered - weight loss, scrapbooking, metabolism, cooking demonstrations, towel folding/towel animals, etc.

The gym is also available and offers various classes, some for free, others like yoga and spinning require a $10 fee (and yes, it IS difficult to do yoga on a moving ship! LOL!) The casino is usually hopping on sea days, and there are sometimes gaming lessons. Some ships have mini golf courses as well. All have art auctions (although my last experience with the company that hosts them turned me off onboard art auctions for good.)

Then there's trivia, poolside games, tea time, live music, arcade, waterslide, a library with games, books, and puzzles, ice carving demonstrations, galley tours, shore talks, ship building contests, and more.

I'm not a fan of sea days. I want to see the world. What appeals to me about cruising is, you're gone for a week or so and come home having visited 3 to 5 other countries! (Caribbean East/West) When I search for a cruise, the less sea days the better.

Sea days to me are well, kind of boring. I do not drink, so maybe that's part of my problem. I hang out on the balcony, reading for a while. The fact that the scenery doesn't change gets a little boring. Maybe I have Adult ADD! Then head to the pool. If you don't want to watch drunk people acting like fools, then grap a lounge chair and drag it to a quite place on deck. The pools have too many people in them for me and forget about the hot tub. Talk about too many people!

I try not to spend any money on the ship, especially on sea days. I'd rather spend money on excursions or island trinkets. Give it to the locals kind of thing.

So after sleeping in, the balcony club, sunbathing, a nap, and eating, I'm ready for the next port. I guess sea days does allow me to re-charge my batteries and no, I don't mean in the vibrator!

You've got lots of options. Exercise, play mini-golf, take in a show, hit the casino (oh yea, I don't gamble either), shop, people watch, or like poster BND says, do NOTHING.

Wake up with a smile on your face and you'll have a great day! You are on vacation after all!

Why would it sound corny? It was very pleasant- soothing music, good conversation, decent tea, lovely pasteries- what could be nicer? So much nicer than the hairy chest contest for example.

I love tea time! Sometimes the pastries they pass around are the ones you have to pay for from the coffee shop. Most people on the ship don't know exactly what goes on during tea time, and each sea day it gets more and more crowded.

If everyday on my cruise was a sea day, I would be the happiest person alive... they are my favorite!!! You don't have to worry about waking up super early to make it to an excursion, there's usually a million different events going on, and I can work on my tan! :D

Sleep in late, eat breakfast, see what games/events you want to go to, check out the art auction (at least one time - free champagne), play a game (we take Travel Scrabble and Yahtzee, but there are games you can check out at the onboard library), spend a little time in the casino, lunch, nap on deck in the shade (not on Lido, but on Deck 10 in the back where you can find some sun and some shade), read a book, spend time in the hot tub and meet new friends, take a steam or sauna in the spa, shower and get dressed for elegant night, get pictures taken, go to the Captain's cocktail party, find some live music, go to dinner, go to show, find more live music, pass out happy. :)
