Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Aloha. I see its winding down. Great memories and the kids are probably happy you will see them soon! As for those events we generally do not prefer special sections or cordoned off areas. Perhaps being from Manhattan we shun noteriety. When there are shipboard events we will generally sit elsewhere. We were blessed to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary on the QM2. I invited approximately 50 relatives to join them on a voyage and would have special cocktail parties but they were curated to avoid anyone noticing. Same for my restaurant events. I will reserve a private dining room as I used to at Windows on the World and the 4 Seasons and now at Le Bernardin. I do similar in Honolulu. As for the unknown canapes I enjoy mystery lol!
  2. Aloha. The bags are great and the rollers of course help. We are blessed to have a few from crystal and Cunard our HAL ones do not have the rollers. Pete and Judy…do you miss your kids?
  3. Aloha. Yes luggage with wheels is definitely a great gift we have quite the collection from Cunard. Flag HAL is doing likewise.
  4. Aloha. Glad you are prepping for future cruising. We have put a pause on cruising as we are preparing for a new addition to our family. Looking forward to becoming grandparents! We will have to coordinate between NY and Hawaii. Do you have children or grandchildren? If you do I am sure the treasures of memories will be priceless as we too have tons for them lol. As far as gratuities, we always receive them along with complimentary excursions dining and most importantly laundry! All blessings
  5. Aloha. Glad you had an enjoyable day. I agree the ribeye is generally more tender and full of flavor than a filet. Our butcher in New York prepares them for us and in Hawaii I am friends with a butcher who gets them from a ranch. Ever so delicious when paired with fresh fish.
  6. Aloha. I have had aft rear wraparound Neptunes but prefer mid ship closer to the lounge but forward of its entrance closer to a pinnacle so there are fewer passengers walking past
  7. Aloha. The near conclusion to a long voyage is always an interesting time. When you return home what are some of your activities if I may ask? Family, friends, the house? What are your go to meals? Caesar salad, pineapple pizza, prime rib? Just curious as I find our at home differs based on where we are. As you know we divide our time between NY and Honolulu. In NY its is family always with my homemade sauce and pasta and of course bagels and bbq. In Honolulu it is loco moco, garlic shrimp, fresh fish and regular evenings at the Halekulani to listen to music while enjoying poke. Oh.. Not to forget doctor visits lol!
  8. Aloha. Happiest of birthdays! It is always special when the staff recognizes a special moment. My parents were regulars on HAL and Crystal and in several instances the Captain would deliver room service to their suite which the line was known for with long time passengers. Once on HAL my mom politely asked no recognition in the dining room so they were invited to a private bridge tour wherein they found balloons and cake and the Captain and staff sang happy birthday 😂 My wife also asks for privacy and we have also been feted with more subdue recognition. Perhaps living in Manhattan and Honolulu we like more quiet lol! All blessings.
  9. Aloha. We love Polynesia and I thank you for sharing your journey and experiences
  10. Aloha. 1971. Greek Line Olympia. Countless around the world thereafter. Blessed to do so
  11. Aloha. We have been blessed to sail in the QM2 since 2004 and love her. Born and and raised in Manhattan and now divide our time between NY and Honolulu. 1 or 2 night cruises were so much fun years ago but are no longer available in the states. That said I would jump at the opportunity!
  12. Aloha. Blessed to have sailed in her. Thank you for your posts!!!
