Did an internet search and found this article:http://www.beyondships2.com/carnival-splendor-hotel-director.html

There are other changes coming to Carnival Splendor. In February 2016, Splendor will go into a drydock for a multi-week refurbishment. During that stay, she will undergo a set of changes that Carnival calls "Fun Ship 2.0."

Fun Ship 2.0 is a program designed to revitalize the Carnival fleet. It includes the addition of new dining outlets such as Guy's Burger Joint, Jiji's Asian Restaurant and Cucina del Capitano as well as new bar concepts including the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar, the Red Frog Pub and the Alchemy Bar. It also includes changes to the entertainment offerings such as the use of LED screens rather than traditional scenery in the theater and a production cast in which everyone is both a singer and a dancer.

I wouldn't necessarily trust what a 3rd-person website states has they haven't always been correct.

Somebody has to know what 2.0 stuff is going in by now. 3 months left and the materials for the upgrades have to be already ordered by now and contractors briefed on what they have to get done.

So true, but for some reason everyone stays tight lipped. Is it really that big of a deal to say whether or not a ship will be 2.0?..

This was a dir ct quote from The Hotel Director from the Splendor. Still going was just curious. I guess I'll just have to be surprised!

:p😜

I agree - just say it already! I don't know why they stay so tight-lipped about it. Still, I don't sail on her until next fall, so plenty of time to know what it will be.

I would like Alchemy (for the pineapple chipotle martinis), Cucina del Capitano (I'm assuming this is an Italian eatery), Blue Iguana (for the killer margaritas) and Guy's (for the yummy obvious reasons)...that is my wish list!

You can get the Pineapple Chipotle Martinis at almost any bar onboard.

Just a fun fact: the Carnival Splendor to me is unlike any of the other Carnival ships. It was not built to be a Carnival Ship it was built for another line. When I cruised on the Splendor they did a fun facts about the ship. I believe it was built for Costa but then for whatever reasons they decided to put it in the Carnival Fleet. It is by far one of my favorites it has a slightly different layout on the lido and I loved it.

You can actually google it, there are some fun facts about SPlendor.

Enjoy its a great ship!

She is a great ship, but wow, SO. MUCH. PINK.

We did love the the Liner Lido Pool and hot tubs, usually not crowded, low key, quiet and very relaxing. With the deli back there as well, give me a pastrami on rye and I'm in heaven.

I spoke to my PVP yesterday. He says that Splendor is getting Guy's Burgers, Red Frog Rum Bar and an upgraded waterslide. That's all the info that's being released now, but there may be more.

On John Healds facebook page....several people in the last 2 weeks have asked about Splendor upgrades. He's answered several times that there won't be any 2.0 upgrades. Reason...because Splendor will going to China.

Interesting...I guess we all will have to wait and see. ;)

Splendor is not listed as coming soon on the Guy's page on carnival dot com. With her going to China, I wouldn't hold your breath for guys. I'm pretty sure that's why the Miracle didn't get it. Still haven't quite figured out why the Victory didn't....

Unfortunately, you are correct...the Miracle did not get Guy's :(.

We are going to be on the Splendor in April. I had heard so many different things that I messaged John Heald.

He said that the Splendor was not getting any of the 2.0 Upgrades :(

I am sad, but I hear that it will be updated to be more "China friendly" and that there will be new bedding, sheets, and the casino will be updated (this was not from Heald)

Do what they want with the ship but hands off the tandoori grill.

LOL, I agee. I loved tandoori grill on Freedom in 2010, then when I was back on that ship again in 2014, it had been 2,0 d. Tandoor was gone. Did i ever miss that. Now I am looking forward to (hopefully) enjoying it on Splendor later this year.

I wonder what JH means about making it more China friendly:confused:

Well, it seems pretty clear there are no 2.0 additions coming.

But that's OK. We weren't counting on them. (We're sailing on the first one after the drydock.)

I do wonder, though, about the talk about expanding the casino.

I can see updating it -- with new machines, games, carpet, etc. But not sure how they'd expand - unless they went into thr Promenade (which i can't see) or took over the sports bar.
