Repetitive Login Problems

I have gone through the search forum on this item and have yet to see where Cruise Critic have any intention of fixing the problem that they have created on their new format. The bit about a "cookie problem" is a red herring, telling me that Cruise Critic has no idea how to correct the problem. If I have missed the info from Cruise Critic on how to solve this problem, please accept my apology, if not , are you not planning on correcting? :(

I've been constantly logged out with the new forum and it's annoying. Since I've made no change to my cookies acceptance nor do I have the same problem with other forums, it has to be CC's problem.

I have clicked the keep me logged in button; however, I still get randomly bumped off, often in the middle of a thread. For instance, if I am reading a post and backtrack to review a previous post, I will be bumped off, or I will be bumped off between Roll Calls. Very frustrating, especially when I am in a hurry. And yes, I have repeatedly reported the issue.

Please understand that Cruise Critics did not write and does not maintain the software that drives this forum. The software is called VBulletin and according to one graph I found they are the software behind 15% of the online boards like Cruise Critics. VBulletin is the group that needs to fix the problem

Ugh that is frustrating for you.

I use my IPad 90% of the time and usually my phone the other 10% but I'm able to stay logged in.

The only time I seem to get logged out is if I reboot my iPad.

So far I can get right back in but I probably just jinxed myself.

Good luck! I hope you get it sorted out!

I had the login/logout problem when I was using my tablet and Edge. On the desktop with Chrome I stay logged in.

It was totally frustrating to be constantly logged out, even when you check Remember Me. And, as someone else mentioned, you could get logged out in the middle of a thread.

I also kept getting messages about changing apps every time I switched screens. It made it very unpleasant to visit this site.

I have been using IE since the dawn of (computer) time, and have never had a problem using this site unless there was a problem with this site.

I log in every time I sign on, check "keep me signed in", and log out when I am finished. If the site burps and signs me out, it signs me right back in that way, although it marks all the unread threads as "read".

Last night was the first time I had logged in that day, so there were a lot of unread threads. Almost immediately CC logged me out, did not sign me back in, and turned all the threads to "read".

Also last night I found that I was unable to properly edit a post. Whatever I tried to correct just would not "take".

Beyond that, if I read a thread, then used the "back to" arrow to the full list, no new postings showed up; if I refreshed, they did.

So, you, OP, are not the only one finding strange goings on with this site---although there was some improvement this morning, and it seems to be back to normal this afternoon (haven't checked "edit", though).

It's a cookies issue. I realize that it's a vBulletin software issue, but if you know how to drop (toss ;) ) your cookies, you should be able to fix it. The reason people have reported success by switching browsers is simply because the new browser is free of the old browser's cookies.

But Chrome is the browser I've used all along and it doesn't have the issue. It must have the old cookies because this is my main device. I only use the tablet when I travel.

I use a heavily modified version of Firefox and I've never had a problem. However, I have been able to recreate the issue in several browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

All I'm saying is that it's not a browser issue.

I understand. Just flush your cookies.

That doesn't explain the problems I had last night, that seemed to be resolved (with no action on my part) this morning.

Chrome has different issues since CC switched to their "new and improved" version. It still, periodically, "drops" the post you just created after you push the "submit reply" button and the next thing you know you are being asked to confirm you "are not a robot" complete with check box to place your "check mark" in.

After you accomplish this, the system sometimes "thinks" about it and accepts your post. However, at other times you'll get a blank page resulting in your post being forwarded to the infamous "mother of all black holes"

This is the response I received from CC one week after requesting assistance with this annoying issue:

"Hi there,

Our tech team is aware of this and are working to fix it. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

If this is MY "cookie problem", why has everything worked flawlessly for the last 24 hours? I did not dump my my cookies, vomit my veggies, or perform any other gastronomic acrobatics.

I've honestly never had a problem with any of my browsers. I've helped a few people fix theirs, and the cookies thing works.

As for why you haven't had a problem in the past day, it's because the machines are toying with you. They're just lying in wait, looking for the best time to strike. ;)

Hahaha. You are so right, and you must have the same magic "Techno Touch" that my husband has. I'm the one always having issues; I sit there yelling at my screen and the computer monster is laughing at me. My husband walks into the room, and suddenly, everything's fine. My computer sees him coming and knows better than to toy with the One Who Writes the Code:D
