Figure I will start the thread now as the trip is only a few weeks away!

We are looking forward to this cruise, although we will have just missed seeing a number of CC members with whom we have enjoyed cruising. They will be getting off as we get on...maybe they will decide to stay aboard!

I hear this cruise is not at capacity.

Wish we could stay on board since we'd love to travel with you again. We only have around 260 passengers on this leg of the Grand Voyage. Service is fantastic and everyone is relaxed.

Hope you have a wonderful voyage.

I almost, well sort of, feel like we have been aboard with you all as we have closely followed your cruise through the postings and the pictures.

It has been great to see the genuine smiles and obvious enjoyment.

What more could one ask for?

You all look wonderful.

Spinnaker2/Candy & Larry, when y'all board on March 27th, want to let y'all know Ari (now Maitre'D for Seishin, will get off the Spirit about noon to return home. For your planning purposes in case u want to try to board a tad before noon.

Ida and I echo ++ what Emtbsam wrote above--service is way above & beyond--intuitive.

Thanks Victoria /Bob for the good words. Thanks as well to Wes/Ida too.

Do you think that SIlversea would let us board that early? I sure don't want to sit at the quay for any length of time. I am glad Ari is going home for some r and r, but we will miss him. I am sure his family and friends miss him dearly as he is a personable guy.

Have a great cruise. We'll be boarding the Spirit in Venice in 88 days and are very excited even that far out. Looking forward to the itinerary, joining up with friends cruising with us, and trying a different SS ship after three cruises on the Wind. Will miss our favorite cruise director and captain but hey they're the only SS ones we know. :D Anyhow, in that mode now to read and hear everything we can about the Spirit as we get closer to our cruise.

Candy for almost every SS cruise (about 10 now) we board at/before 11::45a.m except when our TA gave us VIP status on the Cloud crossing last year (which meant we boarded about 11:30 a.m. escorted by SS directly to our suite--only time we were fortunate to get this. You should have no problem boarding before noon and having a nice lunch at La Terraza or the pool grill.

We normally board around noon and after checking in swing by the cabin to see if it is all right to leave our carry on luggage. Usually the cabin has already been serviced (but not always). Then we head to lunch at LT.

By the way, this is turning out to be one of our best cruises ever. The Officers and staff are superb especially on this last leg of the trip with only 260 +/- passengers on board. We were concerned initially about being on board for 44 days since our longest previous cruise had only been 35 days, but that concern has evaporated and we are truly enjoying the Silversea experience. I hope your trip is as enjoyable as ours.

Spinnaker - what cabin will you be in?

hi alithecat, good ?, we did not know we our TA had VIP'd us prior to boarding but we try to board about 11:30-11:45 am, when we got to

Ft. Lauderdale last April the SS agent at port everglades asked me if I was Mr X, she then said pls come with me. So, recommend you arrive at your embarkation point by 11:30 to enjoy your early boarding, your suite should be ready too, you will get free laundry for your cruise and I believe two meals at Le Champagne. Have fun!

Sorry to break-in, but does the earlier boarding relate to the grade of suite booked, ie: Grand, Royal or Owners Suite or is it a "VIP" tag given by Silversea.

Many thanks.

PSC

Interesting question. Having never booked above the Medallion level we've not seen or experienced any difference in boarding preference or perks and until this thread we've never heard of a "VIP" treatment. Of course it's not like we've arrived at the ship at the crack of dawn. I think the earliest we've arrived at what passes for a cruise terminal in the Med is around 1-2 PM so it's not like we've been faced with dozens of passengers waiting to board.

Many thanks for that, I'd never heard of it either.

(It's 9 years since I sailed on SS so I suspect many things will have changed).

We are ooking forward to returning and are hoping that all the passengers still receive te same VIP treatment!

Happy Cruising!

Early embark and late disembark used to be part of the rewards for completing 100 days and up to 2005 appeared in the SS brochure as such.Ss still honour this loyalty award as we continue to embark at 10 am and disembark at around 1 pm subject to onward travel arrangements, this is confirmed by TA at time of booking.

In general, people begin arriving to board around 11 A.M. We like to board at about 11:30, stow our carry-ons in the suite if possible, and have a relaxing lunch aboard. Anyone can do this regardless of cabin class or status.

I have to smile a bit, not at you but at the notion of getting to the ship that early. Mrs. K is firm about one thing.....she's on vacation. That means she'll get up and get going when she wants to. Now I have to say in all honesty that it makes a big difference depending on the city. If we're doing Caribbean cruises out of say Ft Lauderdale there's no rush to get up and get going. If we're doing a Med cruise and starting in say Barcelona she's up and at it pretty early....but not to get to the ship but to see more of the city before she goes to the ship. Me? I'm like an expecting father....I pace....I'm anxious....and I probably haven't slept all that well the night before. Even after 20 years of cruising I still get excited and want to get to the ship as early as possible. Some of our cruising friends once joked I'd hop the pilot boat to get on the ship earlier if they'd let me. :D

Randyk47, we are birds of a feather. After 23 years cruising and 18 years with Silversea, we still can't wait to board. After the relaxing lunch there is plenty of time to enjoy the champagne while unpacking, meeting the butler, and getting to the lifeboat drill with no frenzy or rush. A good way to begin a relaxing vacation!

We are very new to cruising as a couple because DH gets mal de mer.

But now we know he can manage it, we enjoy it so much.

I would love to be racing sailboats as I once did, but I know DH could never accomplish that.

So this is a happy medium...

We like silversea.

I took my DW on her first cruise for our honeymoon. Sure was glad she didn't get sea sick. ;):)
