I just booked Chops for the first night of our Enchantment cruise ... and it charged me 30 person.

Is that what its supposed to be? I thought I remembered hearing it was cheaper on the first night of the cruise .. no ?

I have seen it cheaper on the first night, but only for on board bookings.

There is a special offer: book 3 restaurants and save 30%. If you are Diamond or above, once board you may make a reservation on the first night for either 1st or 2nd night dinning - 2 for 1 pricing. No matter what your level, If you book over the internet they charge full price then re-credit your account if you qualify.

If you look at Cruise Planner-->Dining & Beverages-->Chops Grille and scroll down to "Insider Tips", it states you'll "Receive a 20% onboard credit* on all Day 1 reservations" with the caveat:

* Prices are per person unless otherwise noted and shown in USD. All selections are subject to change. Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to verify eligibility upon arrival to the activity.

The BOGO first night deal starts at Diamond Plus.

We have enjoyed Chops, ate their twice once on Freedom, and once on Allure (perk for booking cruise when we did).

We were taught a lesson though on Freedom.

When they offered us the bottled water we thought it was included in the dinner, WRONG, we were charged (and rightly so) for the Perrier (sp) we did not know it was an extra fee:eek:.

Now, tap water is fine:D

Enjoy

No, you were not "ripped off". $30 is the current price.

While some ship(s) may have a "first night special", that is not a standard deal.

As correctly mentioned just above, Diamond plus and Pinnacle have a BOGO offer for first-night specialty dining. All ships have a "package" deal; also mentioned above.

Get extra starters if you think that you want a LOT of food. They are delicious and you can have as many of those as you want.

The OBC is automatic and posts on day 2 of the sailing. All specialty restaurants offer a 20% OBC now for first night bookings.

On Quantum they refunded all first night bookings on the maiden voyage and invited to bottles of wine, but I was surprised that they still honored my Wonderland 20%, posting a $45 credit and a $9 OBC bonus.

I did not book my 3rd venue until I was onboard but even thought they offered the 20% for all nights, I did not pursue it as they had been so generous already.

On the Oasis TA they were actually offering 50% discounts on the first night and all formal nights for those that booked onboard. I actually had 2 first nights as I boarded in Rotterdam and then they offered me the 50% off again on what for me was the second night from Southampton.

I have seen some posts that indicate that Oasis has been continuing to offer this discount on other sailings.

Unless there is something special about the first night, I would cancel the reservation and look for some kind of special for the first night.

I agree. I've always been able to get a reservation for the first night once on board.

I always order three appetizers - all included. I have (like others stated paid $35.00 p/p). Sorry about the wrong info on Diamond, I had forgotten how long I have actually been D/P as well as coupled w/ casino perks.

I have a voracious appetite, use to order the full size portion of Filet Mignon - after doing that twice and not finishing half, I have dropped down to the queen size cut and cannot finish all of that either.

Never ever leave anything to chance on a ship - the human error factor is prevalent. Now everyone is able to check charges on a daily basis via room t.v.'s. :)

I always wait until I board. You'll get a discount for the first night and they'll give you a discount for another night - you just need to ask.

My DH and I prebooked for the first night on our 11/30/2014 cruise. We also had booked the Chef's table. When we discovered we had friends on the cruise, we booked Samba Grill and got the 20% off for booking 3 speciality restaurants, whereas they had already given me 20% off for the first night.

My experience on the Allure in April and Enchantment this month is if you book Chops for the first night of the cruise, you will get 20% off. Appears you may have been overcharged.
