Hey all, This is our first time being able to utilize the VIP check in. Question is-Does this apply to disembarking and Embarking at Ports of Call? Or only is for Embarcation and Disembarcation? Would really like to know. Thanks

Are you in a suite or platinum??

Suites only get VIP embarkation and getting off they get the first numbers, so if they are not doing self disembarkation, they get called with the first numbers.

Its a free for all on Carnival if you are doing self debarkation. People ignore instructions and Carnival doesnt care and allows the free for all.

If you are VIP....platinum status....getting off can be a breeze ...IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU"RE DOING ...and by cruise #10...you should.

Do the self assist with your luggage.....make sure your baggage is properly tagged with #1 tags....which will be sent to your room in the afternoon.

Go down to deck 3 early ....and wait where they tell you. They come and get you BEFORE any other level is called. You walk peacefully right off the ship !

I've done this the last 3 cruises with absolutely no problems whatsoever. If getting off early is not an issue....then relax on the lido with your breakfast and coffee and wait till the cattle call is over.

There is no need to get into the fray of people and get frustrated.

This has yet to happen to me where they had a place for platinum and VIP to get off first with self disembarkation. Which ship were you on? This is how I wish Carnival would do it ..but Iv been thru some free for alls and never once told there was a platinum place to wait for self disembarkation.

Iv got to where I ask myself if Im feeling lucky ... and pick one of the places to wait and hope its not the last to go. A couple of times I was in the right place and got off fast. It seems a matter of luck to me.

One thing I"ve found with Carnival is things are very different on each ship.

Go to the purser's desk....VIP line :) the day before......ask them specifically WHERE should I wait ......be there early.....around 7:30 am is when I go.....and make sure to have your Platinum card in hand at all times to show.

I've done this on the Victory....Miami......Pride in Baltimore.....Liberty in Miami and now the Glory in New York....had NO problems at all.

I have never had a problem getting on either....just make sure you have your funpass in hand with the VIP plainly showing.....be nice and you are ushered right in!!!!!

They have sometimes told us to meet in the library for platinum disembarking and set up a nice continental breakfast.

They are supposed to come and escort us off the ship first.

Unfortunately the two times they have done this we are forgotten about and hear them letting everyone else off.

Bottom line is we are getting off the ship and not important any more.

You should get a letter where to go for disembarkation if your Platinum. They had a special place just for Platinum now its for anybody thats VIP. where you had 10 to 20 people now its several hundred. So much for the Platinum perk. Now we don't do it anymore even that became a free for all. They don't check who is VIP so lots of people that are not VIP just get in the line. Good luck.

I just emailed Carnival re. this question as I am going to be VIP for the first time very soon. They were quite vague with the answer and said it will be automatic at check in and to check with a rep. at the pier. I

have heard that doing ones laundrys is complimentary, however I would also like to know more, such as getting off the ship at ports and debarkation.

I think the letter I got was only if you waited for them to call your number.

I dont remember anything about self disembarkation ...but Ill look next time.

The post below yours listed the Platinum perks.

Just wanted to add that there is no priority debark at ports of call unless it's tendered. Then you get priority tender.

You should go to the Platinum line at the Purser's desk and get an escort to the tender. I've found this is hit or miss. Once I was told just to go down there myself and cut ahead of everyone on my own. I don't think so!!

Did you bring this up to anyone.. I will be sure to complain about it..I wish Carnival would enforce what self-assist is.. when you see hundreds of people with their whole house trying to get off the ship and can not carry it .. they are allowed..enough all ready..

  • 2 months later...

Tender ports we go to deck 1 show our platinum cards and get right on a tender. No reason to bother people at guest services.

Recently we can get priority getting back on tenders by being platinum. Did this for first time last month at HMC.

Nobody has priority getting on and off the ship at the ports of call with the exception of tender ports. At tender ports, diamond, platinum, and Faster to the Fun guests have priority getting off, but not back on.

Suite guests have priority embarkation on embarkation day. Firefly explained what suite guests get on debarkation day.

So if you are not diamond or platinum, you can purchase FTTF if you want additional benefits such as priority tendering at tender ports and use of the priority line at the Information Desk onboard. There are no priority benefits at other ports of call unless you work for Carnival. ;-)

Have a great cruise and enjoy your suite.
