Best B2B - What port, ship and date ??

There is no one best b2b for everyone.

We pay high airfare costs to go on any cruise so the lower cruise costs nowadays means b2bs make sense for us. We prefer to go on a ship that has 2 different itineraries in adjacent weeks. It's most convenient if you stay in the same cabin on the same ship. However, moving to a different cabin on the same ship is still much easier than changing ships.

On our last b2b, I was in the omelette line on the first morning of the second cruise. When it was my turn, the cook asked if I wanted my usual and the people near me were dumbfounded :)

I can't think of anything bad about a b2b. Good luck!

We loved our B2B out of Miami in February. We sailed on the Glory to the Eastern Caribbean and then continued on the Glory to the Western Caribbean. We were given instructions on when to meet in the lobby and we were off the ship maybe 20 minutes. We turned in our room key, were escorted off the ship and thru customs and then back on with our new room key. We did change rooms but they moved our luggage for us. We also travel across the country from Seattle and one week just is too short. We saw many ports rather than repeats by doing the same cruise twice.

I haven't done my B2B2B YET so I cannot comment on pros vs cons but have a look at the Breeze if you want to go out of Miami, she does 3 rotating journeys 8 day, six day then 8 day (at least this is true for 2016 when we go, I haven't looked for a closer time)

Also check out Glory, she is a beautiful ship. We were on her in March and I would have loved to stay another week!

If you don't want to travel far, the Eastern/Western Caribbean out of Miami sounds like a winner. However, if you don't mind traveling a bit to catch your cruise, there is a B2B that happens twice a year out of Galveston. The Triumph does an 11 day cruise from Galveston to San Juan, and then a 10 day cruise back to Galveston. There are 6 ports on each leg, and only St. Maarten is repeated. That means you get 11 different ports in the 21 days.

This B2B happens in Oct/Nov and again in Jan/Feb.

We are planning to do the Jan/Feb 2016 sailings, but are waiting til our next cruise to book it to take advantage of the OBC for booking during a cruise.

B2B are absolutely FUN. We've done two - one was a b2b2b on Fantasy out of Charleston (5+5+7) and the other was b2b on the Sensation (4+3).

The one on the Fantasy was unbeatable and a chance to meet others who were also staying on board. And if you really wanted to, you could get off the ship in Charleston and do a bit of sightseeing. When you returned to the ship, you went directly to the front of the line. That part, we haven't tried yet.

The Sensation was fun, but I have learned that I don't really like 3 day cruises even if they're hooked on to a 4 day. Let me first say "We drink...we enjoy a drink...etc. etc." But the number of falling down drunks on the 3 day was a bit more than we could handle. Heaven help them - we saw three drunks in the area outside the elevator. One was so drunk he was on the floor, each time one of the others tried to pick him up, they fell on the floor. It was like a Three Stooges routine. They were okay; just laughing it up!

But a B2B is a definite for any bucket list, especially if you can do two itineraries from the same cabin.

We did our first B2B on the Breeze this summer, an 8 day Southern and a 6 day Western. The Breeze is an awesome ship for B2B because there's a lot to see and do. I would definitely pick a ship that goes on two different routes so you can see many different places.

For us, the B2B process was very organized, so that was a plus. We also had the same room for both cruises, so no packing until the very end. We also did things that we have never done before on a cruise, like watch a dive-in movie. We got to know the staff really well, and they took good care of us. It was so funny at dinner the last night of the first cruise, when our servers said, "See you tomorrow!" and everyone around us looked at them like they had lost their minds!

Like others have said, entertainment will be the same on both legs of the cruise, which could be good or bad. The comedians toward the end of the first cruise stayed on for the beginning of the second cruise, so that was not so great. Also, the piano bar guy was pretty bad, and he was obviously there both weeks. But it is kind of nice to have two weeks to see everything and not have to rush around, since you can always catch it the following week.

Definitely a great experience and I hope I get to do it again!

The same itinerary can be fun on a B2B. So relaxing. Each Island is familiar when going back the second time.

Example, we went to Antigua and it was raining. We went to Valley Church Beach anyway because I wanted to see it. The next week when we were there, it was sunny and awesome. I am glad we saw it twice, both experiences were memorable. I remember thinking to myself..."I'm glad we are coming back next week"!

A b2b is great but then that leads to problems such as a b2b2b2b which we are doing.:D:D I always look for a ship that has a different itinerary for the weeks.

We did the Breeze on a b2b, the 8 day and then the 6 day and then drove to Ft. Lauderdale when we got off the ship and got on the Caribbean Princess for a week to make it a b2b2b.

Have you checked out Princess? They have some great deals and itineraries also.

Do they give you anything for doing a b2b and if I turn gold on the first leg and my DW would have 20 but gets her next status on the next leg, does she still turn gold?

Some have said they got a fruit basket and champagne but I don't know for sure.

As far as your wife's status upgrade, I will technically turn gold on the 2nd leg of my B2B, but I had asked Carnival to link my bookings and the docs for my 1st leg show me gold. So, she may get her gold status on the 1st leg.

On each of our B2B's, we have rec'd a nice card from the hotel director, along with a fruit basket and a bottle of bubbly. As well, upon returning to the ship after the quick immigration check process, we've been greeted with glasses of bubbly and mimosas, and on a couple of the turnarounds, we've also had a group photo taken which was then sent to our rooms later in the cruise. :)

I know this goes against what most would say, but our best b2b was the same itinerary. Last fall we did a b2b on the Valor out of San Juan. The itinerary has 5 ports and many would argue that it is too port intensive and you come home exhausted. Doing a b2b on this itinerary you get the best of both worlds. We chose which weeks we wanted to do something at which ports. We were able to space out our activities and come home very rested. We enjoyed it enough that we are going again next fall.

We are booked on a B2B in August 2015 on the Dream out of NOLA.

Can't wait !

First 7 days will take us to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman & Cozumel.

Second 7 days will take us to Roatan, Belize & Cozumel again.

We get 3 sea days on each leg. should be a nice long restful cruise !

:D
