Service will start soon covering Old San Juan, Condado, Isla Verde and Carolina with 30 stops along the route as reported by local newspaper.e6f264bf6c0278a1f9f1c184e2d5ee8a.JPG

Is this the type of HOHO where there is recorded narration via head phones or a live guide?

We want to go to the Condado area (want to go to a few casinos before they all disappear). How much is the taxi from the cruise ship?

I'm thinking it might be the same price or even cheaper.

Ooopsie, nevermind. If I did that the $25 would be for the whole day, right, whereas I'd have to pay twice for the taxi.

There’s a new kind of San Juan Tour.

Thanks to the arrival of City Sightseeing, Puerto Rico is now home to a group of hop-on, hop-off open-top buses all over the island’s capital.

It’s a welcome addition for a city that’s among the more fascinating to visit in the Caribbean.

“Puerto Rico has plenty to offer to both local and international travelers. I’m certain that the arrival of City Sightseeing will highlight our commitment to diversify our offerings within the tourism sector and will attract new travelers to our Island,” said Ingrid Rivera Rocafort, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. “This installment will strengthen Puerto Rico’s tourism industry, as well as the Island’s economic development.”

Over the course of two years, the $2.7 million partnership with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company is expected to create 45 new jobs on the island.

San Juan Tour

The buses will offer ways to explore destinations like Old San Juan, Isla Verde, Carolina and Condado, with a total of 30 offered locations in the metropolitan area.

The complete San Juan Tour lasts for 75 minutes.

“We are thrilled to expand our international presence by partnering with such a key destination in the Caribbean,” said Ybarra Valdenebro, president and CEO of City Sightseeing. “We also believe that Puerto Rico’s potential, combined with our open top bus service will help strengthen its economic development and help increase the employment rate throughout the Island.”

Information was spread by local Journals no official company release as when to service starts.

Follows company's Facebook page for more info to come; as per FB inaugural photos looks like they'll pickup passengers right from the boats.

We are in port from 7am-1pm, so not long unless we get up early! and not that keen on this as I'm on holiday and have a teenager in tow!

Wonder if we can do the 75 minute HOHO and stop for a quick swim at the beach and be back for sail away without being up too early?

Not travelling until next summer so will keep an eye on these boards to see how the HOHO works and the itinerary.

We are in PR next month and have yet to decide what to do. These HOHO buses look interesting. I'll follow along hoping more information becomes available.

There is another free trolley for OSJ already isn't there?

Yes, I was looking forward to the HOHO as well but this looks like a nice option for us on our Dec. cruise:

What do you think? free seems like a reasonable price to me :p

I guess the problem is, it's limitations but we don't have that much time in SJ anyway and we love history.

Since this is a free ride, it is usually packed full. If you get off, you may have a long wait to find a seat to get back on. Most people seem to use it for a full ride without getting off.

We used it in June. Felt like we had to almost force people to move over so we could sit to get a ride back to the ship. Trying to decide if we want to bother with it again in January. Might just walk.

Buses are not running yet, there is a safety issue as the tall buses collide with tree branches all around the city. Gov is doing their thing to resolve the problem-as heard in local radio.

Very disappointing.:( Thanks for the update.

I asked on another thread, but I'll ask here too, anyone know what the cab fare is from the cruise port (OSJ) to Condado?

Specifically Marriott Stellaris?

:)

Zone 2 thru 5 on the linked table pertains to tourist areas.

Check Uber app for their rates which are a lot cheaper.

Perhaps I'm confused.

This attachment shows rates from the airport, not from the cruiseport.

According to this attachment, Condado and OSJ are only one zone from each other ~ a $4 difference. Surely the taxi fee is more than that.
