To Vibe or Not to Vibe?

I'm looking forward to finding a nice, relaxing place to sit, drink and read a book while on the Escape in November. However, I am extremely fair as I have vitiligo. So I'm wondering... Are there any sundecks that have umbrellas or other kinds of shade over the loungers other than Vibe? If only Vibe has the umbrellas then it may be worth it for me to race to Headliners for a pass for the week, but if I can find a shady spot somewhere else on the ship, I may just skip Vibe. Would love some input from experienced Escape cruisers. Thanks! :)

Not being funny, but Margaritaville has several oversized chairs with small tables. I used it to read or relax while waiting for my wife on both our previous Escape cruises. Under cover, not loud, and definitely not busy.

Thanks! I'll definitely check that out too.

I've heard there is a Vibe kind of place just outside the Vibe. I wonder if that has umbrellas. Would be nice to be near a hot tub and a bar. ;) I don't really need a pool.

It does not. Zero shade outside Vibe, other than the bar stools. And I've gotten Vibe both times I've sailed the Escape. Walked through that area plenty o times!

Not pushing Margaritaville, but you have a bar there and you're close to Spice H2O (another bar, hot tubs, water feature).

Well poop! Maybe racing for Vibe is a good idea after all.

As you can see in the video (shot around 8am) their are plenty of umbrellas in Vibe. They will open then up if you ask, they will also close them if it gets too windy........

Do you have priority boarding?

The Escape recently changed to allow Havens, casino, ambassador, platinum+, and platinum members board first before general boarding.

We are sailing on a certificate from Caesars through Casinos at Sea. Does that count as priority boarding? I have no idea as this is my first cruise. :)

Ah, if this is your first cruise, I do urge you to look at some video of the "thermal suite" on Escape. It's much easier to get a weeklong pass than on Vibe and it's got a pool, a hot tub, great views, loungers, and shade (it is enclosed). That said it does not have a bar, but as far as I know there's nothing stopping you from bringing in outside drinks.

(From eveything I've read, Vibe is very hot and very windy.)

That is good to know! I am definitely going to check it out more. Thank you!

The thermal suite meets more of your requirements than the Vibe and it is not subject to weather (wind, rain, heat, humidity).

Sailed Escape back in February. Deck 19, around the corner from Vibe may offer some shade up against the bulkhead (for lack of a better term). Depending on where the sun is at that time of day. We did have some shade on the trip to the eastern Caribbean. It is a somewhat quiet area (no music blaring), and there is a bar right next to where you enter Vibe, so that makes it convenient. Look at the deck 19 plans and find the area where it says Public Sun Deck.

We enjoyed the Escape. Hope you do also.

Agree with previous posts about the Thermal Spa. This is my go to spot for relaxation. Very quiet, plus no children allowed. Cost, prebooked is $199 or $219 if you book after you board. Well worth the $. Another good place I found to relax is the Waterfront, which surrounds the outside perimeter of Deck 8. It has plenty of cushioned chairs/loveseat type seating, which is under roof and has plenty of shade. I think a lot of people don't realize it's there and don't take advantage of it.

Sailed on the Escape 8 times always in the Vibe. It is not quiet! There is shade but you would need headphones to block out the party atmosphere. The thermal spa is supposed to be quiet. Sometimes guests forget that but others usually ask them to quiet down. I have fallen asleep many times in the spa while attempting to read.

The vibe in Vibe very much depends on the people who have passes on any given week. When I sailed on the Breakaway, it was usually very quiet. People were talking, but it wasn't such a party atmosphere - more of a laid-back mood than a party one.

As Rommel ( Escape Bartender) told us It's the people who make the Vibe what is is.

Changes every week, our week we had a fun/lively group that Rommel appreciated.

And shot o'clock it got really lively.🤣🤣

There are umbrellas in Vibe, however, there are many times that there is too much wind and they will not put them up. If you need a guarantee of shade, may not be worth it.
