  1. Back in 2004 on our first Princess cruise before I knew what Captain Circle levels were, some cruisers had unlimited free internet minutes. You could see kids playing games and others reading different newspapers on line and some even were sharing their internet time. I paid 50 cents a minute to use the internet. I remember telling my kids that they had to interpret what I said in my emails as I used no punctuation, capitalization or spell check -- just one long sentence.
  2. In the thread about the new Princess app, just added a screen shot from my phone showing the $63 price for Crown Grill. Hoping that it is just a glitch as we won't be going at that price.
  3. Screen shot from the new app. I went from the Home tab to the Book Dining and then Crown Grill to see this. We are also in the US. The itineraries on both ships that are covered as one voyage in the new app go to US ports.
  4. So far no one has posted about two separate voyages, different ships one day apart and how it is shown on both old and new app. We both show as "Blue" but have been Elite for years. Had originally booked Ruby Princess (4/2023), 4 booking #s, 23 Mar - 7 May. Old app listed correctly. Then booked Grand Princess (Aug 2023) B2B, 2 booking #s, 8 May - 22 May. Old app had combined the two cruises and now see that it is listed the same way on the new app. New App shows My Voyage - 23 Mar - 22 May. The Booking # is for 15 May (2nd week of the B2b) on the Grand Princess and the cabin # is for the Grand Princess B2B. On the new app, we both have green check marks - Ready To Sail. Did order Medallions for the Ruby Princess last April. No dining reservation are available until 8 May and shore excursions only listed for 15 May cruise. Oh yes - Crown Grill is listed for $63. Plan to board in Fort Lauderdale (Ruby) and Vancouver (Grand) as if I have no smart phone or other smart device or access to internet. I had hoped that the new app would have recognized that two different cruises ships and start dates were not one voyage.
  5. Just off the Grand Princess 29 Nov cruising Australia/NZ and our Crown Grill charge was 53AUD pp so that's close to 63😀
  6. Not sure that you would consider a restaurant a retailer or not but in November we were charged a fee for using our credit card to pay for a meal in New Zealand while on a tour outside Auckland. Have ate in various restaurants around Australia and some have charged a fee and others did not. There was a sign by the cash register stating the fee for using a credit card. We use a credit card that has no foreign transaction fees when used outside the US and it has a good conversion rate when posting the charges to our credit card statement - at least we think so.
  7. You were lucky in the exchange rate for your casino cruise OBC.
  8. Yes when cruising in AU/NZ on board accounts are in AUD and their exchange rates are used.. My comment was for your sentence regarding your Norway cruise this summer having lousy exchange rates. The Norway cruises are in USD so no exchange rates will be involved. If you weren't referring to the exchange rates for your Norway cruise, I totally misunderstood your sentence.
  9. We cruised Norway last June and had the Plus package so gratuities were included. Did speak to others who paid daily gratuities. Princess ships in Norway and other European itineraries we have been on used the USD for onboard charges so there will be no “lousy exchange” rates for you on your Norway cruise
  10. On the Grand Princess between Sept and Nov and there was no Coke Zero or whatever it has now for a name. I brought 2 packs of Coke Zero on board and got many questions on where did I get the Coke Zero.
  11. Have you tried contacting a TA or PVP to see if they can help. I just tried making a booking in 2025 and was only given handicap cabins with a logo of a wheelchair next to the cabin number.
  12. I’ve swapped all 20 alcohol/nonalcohol bottles/cans for 20 Diet Cokes before.
  13. We first saw the Muppets show back in Jan 2020 on the Sky Princess and then one other time since then. Went early to get a seat in the front to see the singers/dancers up close when they came out on the floor. Was in the Vista Lounge both times we went.
  14. Was On the Grand Princess with turn around days in Melbourne, AU and ship started having Covid increases on board. DH and I were unlucky enough to both get Covid so I wasn't a happy camper. We had the infamous balcony table at our cabin door for "our" dishes. After the 2nd time to have some lazy person drop their dishes on our table, I made a sign saying,-- If you don't live in this cabin, please keep your dishes in front of your cabin door and taped it above the table. It was bad enough to be in quarantine but to have others dirty dishes dropped at you door was too much for me.
  15. Just off the Grand Princess and left from San Francisco to Sydney. Smoking was stopped in Churchills and the casino a few days from arriving in Sydney ( could have been our stop in Auckland before arriving in Sydney) - can't remember. Didn't think the casino had any residual smell of smoke but Churchills did have an odor like they were over cleaning it to get rid of the smell. To me (nonsmoker), Churchills has always been unbearable to sit in. Grand was non smoking in all our AU/NZ ports.
  16. This happened to us too - a $67 charge that wasn't mine. Turned out that the handwritten room number wasn't clear enough and the night clerk typed it in wrong. GS had a lot of tickets to go through before finding mine.
  17. I would make partial payment on all our pre pandemic cruises and then have a smaller final payment due. Once the pandemic started and cruises were being cancelled, it was taking longer to get back whatever pre payments you had made - either paid in full or with more than just the normal deposit. I decided at that time that when cruising started back, I would only make the $200 deposit and wait to pay in full on the due date. That way, if anything else happened in the world, I would only be waiting for $200 refund versus several $1000.
  18. Hard to know where cash is always King. Went to Salisbury after ship's tour to Stonehenge. Had quite a few English coins I wanted to use -preferably in a pastry shop. Found what we wanted and got all the coins in my hand and the clerk said they only took credit cards. Sent us across the street to another pastry shop which had no problems taking my coins.
  19. We only had the 2 casual dinners on our 15 Nov Grand Princess segment. There were 6 of us and only 1 tried the appetizer one time and no one ever had desserts. The hostess or waiter never told us we had to have the full pre fixe dinner.
  20. Unless I can't add and subtract, I only need 3 can cokes, Mud Slide and 2 martinis plus the CA and internet to be over $60. Hubby makes up for me if I don't have 2 martinis.
  21. Maybe - NBD ( No Big Deal)- from Steelers36 post
  22. Just off the Grand Princess. Was also charged the 1.1% for credit card payment for New Zealand restaurant. The Meriton in Sydney also charges the fee if bill paid with credit card.
  23. Same thing happened to us when we were docked at Boston. Had dinner at 5:30 in the Crown Grill and had the local tax show up as a separate line item on our stateroom account.
  24. Can you. Please post this change regarding allowing both MOBC and SOBC to be given. Must have missed this change and have several cruises that we lost SOBC when we refared or didn’t apply for it on newly booked cruises. TIA
