  1. Was checking the deck plans and lists of activities for Spectrum OTS and could not find an internet cafe. As I remember it on Anthem it was in the library within the 270 complex. Anyone have any info on Spectrum Internet cafe?
  2. Called Wells Fargo, got a recorded message that I no longer need to tell them of my travel plans. Card was refused on Cyprus.
  3. Perhaps your granddaughter believes that life begins with conception.
  4. Are there any other drinks available for the four free drinks besides the alcohol listed? I know certain coffees are not available, but what about sodas, fruit juice and milkshakes?
  5. On the recent Explorer TA, it was listed that bridge was available on the deck 4 MDR every day from 1PM until 4 PM. Royal Caribbean just provided the space, We had to organize everything else, but they did provide a bottle of champagne for the duplicate bridge winner every day.. We had 20 or 22 people playing every sea day.
  6. Thanks for the warning, never had intended to sail Prima anyway.
  7. Solo equals 2x the points, so 10 points for a 5 night solo for each of them. A lot of money for two solo balconies and why not share a balcony at about half the price of two solos. Wait until next cruise to become diamond.
  8. What nonsense. After 12 nights would have diamond status, so the other 88 nights would not be as a result of taking the 4 night solo cruise. Sounds like you work for the government.
  9. First time we went west to east on a TA. It was difficult to keep having 23 hour days, ,but they were 6 straight sea days so that helped. Then we could not dock in the Azores because of the weather, so we had a total of 9 straight sea days. Then we stopped at Malaga, Cartagena, Barcelona, Toulouse and Corsica on the last hive days before docking in Rome. For only the second time I got to play duplicate bridge all 9 days at sea from 1PM to 4PM in the fourth deck dining hall. It was not run by RC, we were on our own. Jim took over, with help from a few others, and we had a well organised competition every day. There would be 10 or 11 pairs every day, with the results being posted the next day. RC did provide a bottle of champagne for the winning pair every day. The only other time I had played duplicate was on the Mariner in 2018 On the Dubai to Barcelona cruise. For that one a man and wife hired by RC ran the show, quite well. Was told most TA have high participation bridge games. Another item which was well attended were the Friends of Bill W meetings in the chapel at 10AM. There were 14 people there the first day, and at least 8 or 9 every other day. Many claimed it was the largest participation they had seen at sea. The ice show was very good, they hooked me when they started with Moody Blues symphony orchestra music. MDR options for vegans was limited to one starter, one main course and one desert, with some repeats. I also eat fish, so I had a few additional options. Overall the food quality was just OK. The tv sports were very hit and miss, NBA playoffs on at midnight or later, plenty of tennis and rugby and football(soccer) Next Cruise got me a cabin on 4/28/24 Anthem TA out of NJ. Cheap deposit and extra OBC.
  10. My solution on the once a day room service was to tip the steward half the usual because he is doing twice the cabins, comes out the same for him
  11. Then perhaps cruising will always disappoint you.
  12. Saw a great balcony price for Odyssey, might be deck 6 obstructed view. Anyone have an info on what those cabins are like? Can you see straight out to sea, is it only lower obstructions?
  13. Growing up ain't all that its cracked up to be. So I've heard.
  14. We are staying at the Hyatt airport East, they have no port shuttle, but right next door the La Quinta has a shuttle for $15 per adult. Uber quotes at $55 to take 2 people to the port.
  15. When we cruised back in 2019, one could get and pay for the visa on the ship after setting sail. Is that still the case? At each port a Vietnamese official would board the ship and personally check each visa.
  16. We always book as far ahead as possible, but hold off on flights and hotel rooms until about 8 months before the cruise. We have found many cruises in Asia get cancelled or chartered, but usually before the 8 month date. Just had a Norwegian January 2025 Taiwan to Singapore go charter on us. Probably get a 10% future cruise credit as a reward for having booked early.
  17. Was denied boarding with Thai mangoes in Singapore. Had to go to the back of the line and eat them before getting on the Jewel.
  18. Wondering when the 2024/2025 Asia season will be available, 2023/2024 pretty weak.
  19. My NCL inside guy just informed me that two Asian cruises are now charters. He said I should be getting an email soon spelling out my choices. The cruises are the 1/27/25 Sky out of Taiwan and the following 2/8/25 cruise. I will post what I receive when I get it, will be traveling for a few weeks.
  20. Just noticed the WC will be in Manila from 10:30AM until 11:00PM. Anyone interested in WWII history would probably enjoy a boat trip out to Corregador island. The island is just like 1945, all the monkeys which were eaten during the 1942 siege have been replaced. The original cannons are still in place, with plates on them such as Bethlehem Steel, 1907.
