  1. When we were on Splendor in Nov 2021, they had a Mosel Riesling. One of my favorite regions! I seem to remember a Moscato, too. I was happy with the wines. If they don't have what you want as the featured wine, you can ask for something different, which is how I ended up with the Mosel Riesling.
  2. So, I asked my TA about being able to book same to/from but on different day. Yes, deviation imposed UNLESS you are an upper tier RSSC member (Platinum Seven Seas Society). So, that is why there are varying answers. Good to know....
  3. I too have received an email confirmation, even have a copy of my booking information. When I log into my MSC account, it does not show up. When I put in the booking #, I get a "there was an issue...." I called and found out that the booking was inadvertantly put first name, last name instead of last name, first name (or vice versa....). So, I can pull up the booking if I don't try to log in, but it is not tied to my account. I need to call again to see why I can't get them married up, but dreading it.
  4. We did Normandy from La Havre and it was one of the most poignant tours we have ever done. (Not on Regent, but on a main-stream line.) We were looking down at the beaches from the hill and I thought I could NOT envision being at the beach looking up and having the courage to storm that hill while being fired upon. It brought tears to my eyes. And the rows upon rows of crosses at the Cemetery were both heart-wrenching and beautiful. We have been to Arlington National Cemetery and I have to say that France did an exceptional job of keeping things immaculate; even more so than Arlington. Certainly worth a visit!
  5. Can you tell me where you see how much you will get air credit? When we booked our Grandeur suite (while on board), the fine print said $2K air credit, but when I asked about the credit, it was only a portion of that and I though buying it on my own would cost more than the credit. Does it depend upon the suite you book, or where you are flying to/from? Have only sailed once on Regent's, so new to its ways.
  6. Make sure you see the Thermal Spa amenities on the ship you choose....one size does NOT fit all. The newer ships have many more features. Sky doesn't have one at all. One of my favorite features are the heated loungers; but I have old bones and sore muscles. After a day of touring, those were great! On a TA they might not be so needed. Just know what is available on the ship you are on so that you won't be surprised or disappointed. And consider how much time is available for you to use it (port intensive, you might not have as often to use!) For me, the Thermal Spa is on my "yes, please" list! 🙂
  7. Hi, Gary, you sound very much like me as far as comparison shopping for those 'bucket list' cruises! I am doing a similar search for an AUS/NZ and Panama Canal cruise. We originally had an NCL suite for AUS/NZ, but ended up cancelling when I was pricing air fare and found it to be ~$10K/pp for bus class. Yes, great price on the stateroom (booked during shut down), but the air killed it. We could get RSSC within $2k/pp and a longer trip. (Unfortunately, longer is not necessarily better for us as we are both employed full time. I have time to burn, but hubby is in health care, so very limited!) Air fares are getting to be more reasonable, so I'm back to looking. Considering O for Panama Canal because the embark/disembark are both in US, so don't need business class flights. O is terrible if you are wanting to upgrade overseas flights to business class thru them, as they evidently don't have contracts in place, so charge excessively. We don't have status to use points on flights. Are you upgrading your flights on this cruise? What was your experience....do you go thru O or book your own? Always enjoy your reviews! Keep it up! Thanks, Karla.
  8. Where did you see information about these shows? We are on Divinia next May and I haven't noticed this in any of our availability to book pre-cruise. Does Divinia have these?
  9. Flossie, I can't specifically remember, but seems like our classes on Splendor in November 2021 were about 1.5-2 hours long. I CAN tell you that you WILL NOT need to have lunch! We made the mistake of booking a specialty restaurant after an afternoon class. Never again! We were stuffed from class.:) Both fun and good food!
  10. Historically, we have received a portion of the difference in OBC when the price dropped after final payment. Not the full reduction. (Seems like it was about 1/4th of the drop in price.) I have taken the OBC once. The other time, I opted to get a better cabin at the reduced rate, which cost me slightly more, but a better cabin, so I felt worth it.
  11. From what I have been reading on NCL's website, the Guppies program is suspended. I didn't see a date for resumption of activities. I've been looking because we have a 2023 cruise with our grandchild.
  12. Just for clarification: there are more than 1 Cruise Next -type deposits. The "usual" one is for $250, but there was a "lite" one for people who usually did short cruises, and a "HAVEN" one that was for $500 and would count for your deposit. We usually sail in the HAVEN, but I never purchased the "HAVEN" deposits, would use 2 "usual" deposits when they had the "use 2" offers and pay the difference ($1500 deposit less $500 for 2 CN vouchers). I didn't check this on our last cruise, as we still have more CN vouchers than I think I can use before they expire! The information in our Freestyle Daily on noted the $250 CN deposits.
  13. We were on the Pearl Aug 12th. Did not have any issues with unruly kids nor adults. We normally take the stairs on cruises (mostly to offset copious amounts of food input!) and that usually limits how many people we encounter. However, DH had tendonitis this trip, so more elevators than normally, but still no issues other than people who insisted on packing in like sardines. (And yes, we came down with CoVID after the cruise, but I would do it again in a heartbeat!) I tend to agree with @snthrngary, the worst behavior I have encountered has been in the HAVEN area, when kids are given free reign with NO adult in sight! But even that wasn't horrible, just made me fearful for their safety and the state of the US in the future. 🙂
  14. I was recently introduced to Hendricks. Used to do Bombay Sapphire. Hendricks MUCH smoother, IMO. Now, based upon comments here, looks like I should try Aviator....Isn't that what's great about the world.....constantly discovering new and delectable things??!!!
  15. It was not asked on my Pearl post-cruise survey this month. Hadn't really thought about it until this thread. Then remembered seeing it on past surveys.
  16. Hey, Jeb-bud, we are on that Grandeur sailing, too! Fingers crossed for an upgrade, but looks like sold out, as we attempted to get friends on trip with us, but no staterooms available.
  17. Yep, definitely better G&T with Fever Tree and Hendrix! Haven't tried Aviation yet, though.
  18. Stop it, Bird! I won't be in a HAVEN again until January, and meantime, you have me salivating all over my keyboard!
  19. Oh, my! How did I miss these when I sailed on Splendor? Thanks for cluing me in, I will be sure to look for them on my next Regent cruise!
  20. Hi, we sailed on Splendor in November 2021, but I didn't see our PH -606 updated, so thought I'd add. I think you have most of the information, so here is the bathroom: large shower, double sink, no separation for commode, step up entry from bedroom or walk-in closet. Comments: walk-in closet accessible from main room (flat) or bathroom (step); lists for 3 ppl, but large enough for 4 (IMO), right outside stairwell, so easily accessible to other floors. No noise noted.
  21. I am in agreement that the limitation on the upgrade does NOT entice me to continue loyalty to NCL. We usually book in the Haven, so not a benefit to us. Guess I'll stay with Sapphire and see what other cruise lines might have to entice me over. NCL doesn't seem interested in lower prices right now, so....
  22. Just returned from Bermuda on the Pearl. We did the Hidden Gems tour, which includes a cave, wet cave, and "cliff" jumping.....was a highlight of our trip. But pricey! (I had actually considered doing a tour on our own, but DH wanted a ship tour.) I hope you have a blast!
  23. We have sailed in the Haven numerous times, but only once on Regent's. We actually are more likely to now sail Regent's since the Haven prices have gotten so crazy (at least for overseas, where Regent's provides business class air). That being said, we have enjoyed both experiences, but I would be hesitant to take a younger child. We are taking our son and DIL next year for our son's degree celebration. Had he been graduating HS, I don't think this would have been the right cruise for him. Thoughts: Dining......award goes to Regent (lobster in main dining room) Atmosphere.....award goes to Regent, but be aware that this is a MUCH older/mature crowd. Things were much more sedate (what we wanted). On-board activites....Regents will be bocce ball, shuffle board, bean bag toss, mini-golf, bridge classes, and cooking classes (for a fee), along with a great library, the spa and casino. NCL will have much more active activities, like rock climbing walls, arcades, water slides, and still have many of the same ones as Regents (although I haven't seen bridge or a cooking class). I would think a younger person would find many more things to do on NCL, but that may depend upon their personality. Kids clubs....is there even such a thing on Regent's? Granted, we were on a TA, so only remember seeing MAYBE 2 kids (under 21). Shows....award to NCL, lots of variety available. Bottom line from our observations....it would be a very unusual child that would be happy on Regent's. I think the variety of things to do on NCL would keep them more occupied. YRMV 😉
  24. Anyone on Pearl? We leave at the end of the week (fingers crossed for negative CoVID test, that is!)
  25. So, if I want to book my own air, seems like I can cruise many other lines than Regents....Business class air has been the MAIN reason for going with RSSC. I really enjoyed my 1st cruise with them last Nov, but I already have 2 more upcoming cruises, and if the air arrangements are still in the quandary they seem to be in now, I would certainly NOT have picked RSSC! Fingers crossed this gets sorted out quickly!
