  1. I just looked at a few of the menus from QG from our Dec 22 crossings. Dover Sole is available any night just let them know by lunch. The lunch entrees always included a fish. The one I am looking at includes Pan fried Barramundi, Confit of Duck leg, Grilled Double Sirloin Steak, Spaghetti Carbonara, and Kung Pao Cauliflower. There are four appetizers and one soup and one salad and special soup of the day plus four choices of dessert not counting the ice creams. A normal dinner has four appetizers, two special salads and two soups, four entrees (grilled 28 day aged rib eye, Red Thai King Prawn Curry, Chickpea Dumplings and Pumpkin and Courgette Noodles) plus four desserts and ice cream. Even with this we always ordered something off menu so If it’s onboard you can have it. Can’t imagine ordering a grilled cheese sandwich but the bread and rolls onboard are wonderful as is the cheese trolley.
  2. Wow, it sounds like you mini suite has had some hard usage. It’s amazing how the cabins are abused and misused. The coffee table needs to be refinished and how do you use the toilet with half of the seat missing?? You even cleaned out the shower drain and I can’t imagine doing that. Good luck with the rest of the cruise.
  3. Why did you have to drag your heavy bags to disembark?? As a grill passenger your bags would have been unloaded first and you could have left the ship early. Is this how they do it on the new Crystal, you have to drag you bags with you instead of having the porters do their job?
  4. Sorry about the disaster in Brooklyn. NYC was under a state of emergency and we were told to “Shelter in Place”. Good that you were even able to disembark as the city rescue squads were already stretched to their limits. We enjoyed Southampton and their museums, especially the Maritime and the Spitfire museum. Sorry the city wasn’t to your liking.
  5. I believe the QM2 Library is the best currently at sea. If anyone knows of a better one let me know.
  6. We like the Retreat and always book it for the whole sailing. We don’t enjoy the chair hog game and we are assured of a nice place in the shad or sun. We have also enjoyed a sea view from the cabana. There is a walkway between you and the sea but it’s never busy. Enjoyed the champagne or we exchanged it for an excellent wine and we often used it at dinner. Lunch was good and we had it everyday.
  7. Song would be fun, however, Cunard didn’t drop the bags in the water. The union dockworkers did and ships have to use them.
  8. Cunard must have changed the champagne. When we sailed on the QV we had a whole not half bottle. We were in QG but I doubt that made a difference.
  9. We found the Grill Lounge on 9 and all public spaces have good Wi-Fi. We did not have WiFi reception in our QG Suite.
  10. Do people these days still pack electronics or medications in bags given to porters or checked with airlines? Hopefully everything lost could be replaced. LV bags are asking to be stolen wherever they are.
  11. I’ve not seen any spurious emails from Cunard. We just receive emails about sales or new itineraries. Hardly receive anything from Seabourn.
  12. I hope the OP realizes he is not on an expedition cruise, it’s really a repositioning cruise. I never realized that we boarded Seabourn based on our loyalty level, we are almost Diamond and our boarding times have varied. I hope the OP will be satisfied with less dining choices and less entertainment. We only take the Expedition ships for true expedition voyages, other than that we prefer the larger ships.
  13. You made it to the actual North Pole? Thought only a few naval subs were able to go there. Great that you were able to break the ice in this ship!
  14. There are many lounges to use on the QM2. Our favorite was the Commodore Club but we should have tried the others. Sir. Samuels has great coffees, teas and hot chocolate. They also have pastries and light sandwiches.
  15. Daniel Fox is an amazing photographer and videographer. Our Venture trip was superbly document by Daniel and I hope he is on board for our next expedition!
  16. According to my audiologist anything over 70 db will cause damage to your hearing if it is prolonged. Anything over 5 minutes is prolonged.
  17. Did he lose his luggage?? Why didn’t he ask the butler for assistance.
  18. If someone has left their clothing in the dryer overnight and no other is available, I will definitely put it in one of the clothes baskets provided. The laundry is a public area and there is no excuse for leaving clothes overnight.
  19. I brought hiking she’s to the Amazon, ankle high and waterproof. We had planned many shore excursions through the jungles. If you don’t expect to do those hikes then don’t bring the shoes. Our hikes were muddy and sometimes through small streams and puddles. We were allowed two suitcases each on the plane so we had no problem packing them.
  20. Definitely tip the porters, it gives our luggage a better chance of making it to the ship!
  21. Really enjoyed them last year on Seabourn. We had a switch in our cabin to turn on announcements and we were warned early in the evening that we would likely see the lights. We left a quick change of clothes by the bed. We were informed at 2:30 AM that the lights were out and were spectacular. We were able to view them from the bow of the ship (Venture) and they were spectacular. The ship’s nature photographer took a video of the lights and shared them with the passengers. They are certainly not to be missed!
  22. Drunk passengers are a safety hazard to themselves and to others. They can fall, fall down stairs, fall on other passengers and crew. I am also sure these passengers will gladly sue the cruiseline for over serving them.
  23. In December Cunard was offering private car transfers, has something changed? We ordered our own car and he was instructed that he could not pick us up where the Cunard private transfers were parked.
  24. Good thing about the plunge is Seabourn realizes it is dangerous. You will have a rope tied around you in case you have a heart attack or stroke after hitting the water. They also have a doctor standing by but I don’t know if the AED is nearby so you can be resuscitated.
  25. Go away from the fudge and tourists shop and you will enjoy the peace and quiet of the island.
