  1. Agree and right now every cruise line is competitive and watching each other. after-all travel came back in 2022 from pandemic and soon folks will not tolerate price gauging unless they can afford it.
  2. Well navigational team will get good at turning the ship. and somewhere in that schedule a new master captain will relieve the current captain. also lots of chances to photograph the ship coming and going getting ready to pay my final bill for my May trip. Yippee
  3. excellent and thanks for sharing. I guess correctly about 3 hours ago when I saw them getting close. Nice of Allure to get to be first ship to see Icon from the RCI fleet, I be the captains were chatting
  4. omg thanks for the chuckle. The end.
  5. boy this is getting attention of two well known men on You Tube as well. Hardly anyone likes the idea of addl money beyond the 200% Never understand the concept of worrying about money not being spent by 2nd passenger. A lot of solos go to speciality dining and go on excursions and shop and drink. Couples can be quite cheap and thrifty too.
  6. as was the Grand Princess. I did her on summer of 2023 and the crew never tried to dry any decks around the pool or in the aft area. I did not feel so save on this ship. On RCI and the new CCL Celebration, the crew was constantly whiping up the decks. And for the Grand, they use the boarding deck higher up and so the entire middle of the ship and atrium as well as guests services was very chilly.
  7. thanks for the long review. I disagree on sausage. I like those Bangers. looking forward to my cruise on Regal in 2025 around UK. Hoping the ship is better than the Grand.
  8. actually on the ship he used a scooter and I almost lost a foot in 2016 when he whizzed by fast.
  9. correct as Oasis and Allure were in Finland and the rest in France. I am glad Odyssey is coming to Bayonne and will sail on her in 2025 in the springtime. but I will miss one of the pools being covered as well as the nice navy blue color of Northstar. Now they went and made it lime green, oh well
  10. And if and when Captain Johnny comes on board to be Master of the vessel, will he bring his parrot on board? Could be interesting. I am thinking if the dog is a mascot, it will wander up and down the 95 corridor to let the crew pet and enjoy the dog.
  11. Well Celebrity keeps a section of the front open until late for folks to play games and just sit and talk. Same thing with mid day too. There is ice cream and beverages and pizza nearby. that is the real draw being able to use tables for reading or games not necessarily for eating. I dislike RCI chasing everyone out of WJ at 3 pm when hot outside and no chairs in shade. Mahjong is popular among passengers and cards
  12. I just noticed that the new Sun has a big sphere at the front of the ship much line the new ICON of the seas. Very interesting look but closeup of the Sun make it look like a older space capsule laying on its side.
  13. I know but I would have thought for a WC the medical center could have been setup differently, or perhaps in a few of the larger ports, access to a pharmacy that would accept folks home country doctor prescriptions. And two other cruise lines are doing WC but for no more than 5 months.
  14. The Freedom and Oasis class have those cars in the promenade to take photos of. The quantum has a much different setup and meant to be very different from the other classes. The Seaplex was made to have a variety of sports indoors and the Two70 was meant to have a really great view of the aft and wake of the ship as well as all purpose entertainment venue with a nearby eatery as well. I think both of the last two classes of ships were meant to be different in a lot of areas. Now we have ICON to check out and folks already feel like the promenade will be much improved with view of the ocean.
  15. yup research is important. And it's not the builder, but the designer of the class. oh well And these ships are very much loved by a lot of people. For me it's Anthem and I love the mascot giraffe.
  16. yes I too have wondered I mean 9 months is a long time. I would have thought a medical facility would carry the more popular ones and with a doctor note dispense. Then again how will they bill it back to insurance. See these long cruises have so many issues. oh well God bless those that do go on them and we all follow along. I would miss my kitchen and my cable tv channels after about 3 weeks.
  17. aw yes that would have been my first choice too. Last years itinerary was interesting especially to get to go on a safari.
  18. I have also never been to Tobago but I have been to Tortola. Will check back to see how you liked it. So sorry to hear about cold food and slow service as well. I am hearing this more and more from various lines. That is a pretty interesting list of gifts you got too. Not too many cruiselines give out chocolate on the pillow. I think Celebrity does as well
  19. oh I would have love to have been a fly on the wall to see the Hotel manager's reaction. I wonder if each line has spies that go on other ships. For cookies, RCI has the best ones. Not even Disney is good not Carnival. Pizza is good on RCI too if they have Sorrentos with those ovens. Best desserts are on NCL so any look and taste like grandma would make.
  20. yes cold coffee would be annoying. But I have enjoyed buffets on Celebrity and RCI and even newest Carnival.. Always got better quality of salads and lot of veggies. I hate the MDR that puts very tiny amounts of veggies next to a big honking piece of meat. So for e buffet has some healthy options especially Celebrity and RCI. You will see humus and various types of cheeses and at the grill have your protein cooked in front of you. That is will the hottest you can get. The only cruise I really like the MDR was on the Grand Princess. I had he best Fettuccine Alfredo. But I know folks want to be waited on but for me if the meal is mediocre, then I say never mind and go to buffet which is usually not so cold with a/c and no the loud hustle and bustle of the waiters running up and down the aisles. They move so fast that I have seen last year at least 3 times food getting dumped on someone sitting near the aisle.
  21. If you have never been on a Quantum class ship, then that should be your answer -- Try it you might like it. And Odyssey is loved a lot for their shows and the beauty of the ship. Only thing is they should have covered one of the pools like the sister ships are. Even in Caribbean the weather can be bad and so an indoor pool would be great which would avoid the solarium. Gotta try Northstar, Seaplex and enjoy Two70 in the back. Yup go with Odyssey IMHO. I have been on Anthem, Ovation, and Quantum. loved them. And the Quantum class ships are the only ones with a mascot on the back starboard side of the ship. Each one is different.
