What is open onboard (Celebrity) when docked in Bermuda
Jim_Iain replied to mduffles64's topic in Celebrity Cruises
All bars have always been open when in Bermuda. Yes drink packages are good from the time you board until the cruise ends. Does not matter if in port. -
Luminae is always excellent. Every time I've ordered it has been cooked to a perfect Medium Rare by request. I would say the one offered in other venues have also been tender, tasty and cooked properly. Especially good at the Lawn Club, Murano, Fine Cut and Tuscan. I am one that prefers Lamb to beef and miss the Lamb Burger they use to have in Luminae for lunch.

I have so enjoyed following along. I have to say Jeremy's smile is infectious. His love for you is so apparent every time he is captured looking at you. I can't believe it is that terrible time of a cruise when the luggage tags arrive. Looking forward to your next live post. One quick question when you get a chance to answer. In Luminae on an E-Class ships, do you get the same waiter and assistant every night or do you different ones each evening? I really like it when we just have a single server so we can get to know them and they get to know us.

They should be able to work with you on a flora display. On Celebrity's Gift portal they have a Tropical Display that I like. https://www.celebritycruises.com/int/cruise-gifts/items-results?category=SPOCCA&collection=CELEBRPACK Some of the "Spring Displays" are more of a mixture of what is available and sometimes takes on an autumnal look. We often are given flower arrangements as Top Cruisers and they vary quite a bit. Here’s a couple examples.

Not clear about inclusions in Move up bid
Jim_Iain replied to sandy1020's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If you win an upgrade you will get the amenities that come with the room - Blu and Persian Gardens. You will not get the Perks that come with a booking for Aqua - Drink Package, Internet and Tips If you aren't interested in Blu or Persian garden's I wouldn't bid on an upgrade. -
Do cabin stewards still provide containers for sharps?
Jim_Iain replied to OnTheJourney's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I travel with travel sharp container as I only one shot a week. I have also just asked the stateroom attendant and he got one quickly. -
I've always gotten a call and email from the Personal Cruise Consultant. It may be easiest to just call the booking number and press new booking (it speeds you through) explain and ask if they could look up your Cruise Consultant or help you.

Eastbound vs Westbound TAs occupancy
Jim_Iain replied to Ex-Airbalancer's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I've done at least a dozen crossings and have a different view. West Bounds - Really depends on whether you take the Northern, Mid-Atlantic or Southern Crossing. We have had some rough Northern Crossing the worst being 2018 when a huge Arctic Storm (not a hurricane from the Caribbean) caused us to divert south of the Azores and put us into Boston a day late. Our deck furniture was tied down for the entire crossing. On the other hand I have down many southern crossings and the seas were as smooth as a lake and temperature for most of the crossing was like Hawaii. Real advantage of a Westbound is you gain an extra hour sleep for 6 days as oppose to loosing an hour almost every night on an Eastbound. The crew love the Westbound because they get the extra hour to party while on a Eastbound they loose an hour of sleep each timezone Change. Eastbound - The cruises can also be very different via the route. The Southern Crossings are the smoothest and warmest while the Mid-Atlantic or Northern can be chilly and variable on on seas. We avoided the Eastbound for about 20 years and finally decided to try the spring sailing. The time zone changes do take a toll on your and the crew but at least as a passengers you can grab a nap or sleep in. We also took the B2B to Iceland and Greenland and back last year. We had much better weather eastbound but only being 10 days apart it was just the luck of the draw. We have decided on the Apex for April of this year but mostly due to the length of the cruise and it being based in Amsterdam/Rotterdam. -
How Do You Check In with this Celebrity App
Jim_Iain replied to mcrcruiser's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Glad you were able to get at least the check-in slot. I just checked in for a cruise on Wednesday with no problem. Since I'm on the West Coast I can usually checkin for a FLL departure at 9:01 PM Pacific. I usually just use the App and select a checkin time initially and then come back later to complete. When I completed it I used the app to scan my passport and then entered my CC details. I usually then go to my laptop and upload a stock photo -
Pricing difference: Guaranteed vs. Pick your room.
Jim_Iain replied to Lbytwerk's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I've had to book guarantees before and pretty much ok. If you expect the worst cabin in the classification and receive something better you will be ok. On two occasions I received SS accessible cabins which aren't my favorites but OK. Once a cabin is assigned I've been able to change rooms in same category if available for no additional cost. -
We were on last year at Easter. They decorated the ship and had special desert displays in the OVC. Around lunch time they had a crew member dressed up as a Bunny Rabbit going around different venues. They also had both Passover and Easter Services

Will Celebrity change carryon wine policy to match Royal Caribbean?
Jim_Iain replied to Jim_Iain's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Not if you have a drink package. -
Curious if you are logged into the App. At least for me - When I first open the App - or after signing out I first brings up a screen that says Sign In. After signing in It opens up my next cruise and I am able to do check in - or choose to view other reservations.

It would be a nice option but at least last year it was open for dinner only on embarkation day. If I recall it was open all other days for lunch.

A Few Thoughts on the Retreat Privilege Package (RPP)
Jim_Iain replied to vacruisincouple's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The Iconic Suite is open for the April Apex TA. Might be a good deal for a family but at $44,000 I guess we will give it a pass. -
Planning for the future we also never exchange back to USD. We just bring it home with us and use it on a future trip. We do however travel to Europe at least a couple times a year. We just keep them in envelopes and bring the leftover notes with us each trip. Sometimes you have to be cautious as like the UK they retired old notes. After the published circulation date it was difficult to get a bank to retire them unless you had an account with the bank.
-
The exchange rate is usually pretty bad on the ship but they usually have Euros on a Med cruise. In the past couple years we have found we require very little local currency. As a result covid almost everything has gone to hands free payment systems and they prefer you to use credit cards. We usually have enough for tipping excursions and incidentals. If we need exchange I usually just stop by our Wells Fargo Bank which usually carries UK Pounds, Euros and Yen. If they don't we usually place an order online and pick it up within a day or two. Another good source is any major bank's ATM machines at your first EU port. My bank reimburses for all ATM fees.
-
That may be a condition of your Big Box TA. I have done numerous on board bookings that are automatically assigned to my TA (unless specifically requested otherwise). I've always been able to reprice without loosing my OBC.
-
I've used the form many times and always got a thank you from our Butler. I was told by the HR Manager that if you put in the person's name or dining room (e.g. Luminae) it goes to the individual or dining room pool, but if you leave it to a position like Waiter it goes to the complete waiter pool.

A Few Thoughts on the Retreat Privilege Package (RPP)
Jim_Iain replied to vacruisincouple's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I was told that it was available only for the full cruise. Incidentally I contacted the Zenith to ask if they were upgraded to a SS on a bid could I cancel the RPP for a full refund. The reply was yes up until 48 hours of the cruise and no changes once on-board the cruise.
