  1. Yes, it's not super logical, but it's there. On the Ama site, don't click "Request a quote". You have to go through the individual ships. Either start with a specific ship, or go through the "River Cruises" and select a cruise. Once on a cruise, select "Ships", that will list all the ships that do that particular itinerary. You then pick a ship (doesn't actually matter which one). On a ship's page, select "Itineraries", and from there, it will list each itinerary that the ship does. On each one, it will show "From $x,xxx pp), along with a button for "View Dates & Prices". This will list all the dates and prices for that itinerary. This is where you want to get to. Note that this is actually the Dates & Prices for the Itinerary, not just that ship, so you have to check each listing to verify the ship (if that matters to you), and why it doesn't matter which ship you pick from the Itinerary page. Each entry here will show you the base price for the cruise, the current discounted price (if applicable), the upcharge for any pre/post cruise extensions you can add and a button for "Staterooms". Here it will show you the up charge for every room category above the cheapest category. Also, at the bottom of the main page under 'Site Links', there's a link to 'Brochures'. The Brochures having some pricing.
  2. Huh?? Not in my state. I've never heard of schools taking a week off for Yeshiva. They just got back from <strike>Christmas</strike> Winter break. They're not going to come back for a week and then take another week off. Maybe Jewish religious schools, but not public schools. After they return after New Years, they get Martin Luther King Day, and then the next day off is President's Day.
  3. Granted, it's newer than 1939, but The Wiz came out in 1974. It's closer to TWOO than today. And honestly, has it even been a thing since the very early 80's? Surely you can come up with better, more contemporary, examples, like Wicked (keeps with TWOO tie in)? I'm with you. For the most part, I am not a fan of musicals. I always say that my favorite musical is The Blues Brothers🤣. I can still understand the appeal to most people, and can objectively appreciate the talent. My wife likes them, and some I can sit through and be fine with. Wicked was fine. The Lion King was ok. Actually kind of liked Jesus Christ Superstar (with no anachronistic sets). Others, no thanks! TWWO is one of those, but I'd still take it over The Wiz. Rock of Ages is more my style of music. Cats & Starlight Express were so bad even my wife hated them. But yeah, I'll take the Aqua theater and Studio B over most of the main theater productions.
  4. Likely a stupid question. We've honestly always been perfectly fine with the free food options on the ships, but this fall we got a killer deal on a star class suite on Allure. Obviously this includes the UDP. We also don't carry cash at all on the ship, as you can always add a tip to a drink receipt, even when using the vouchers. So the question, everyone keeps saying they "leave" x in tips, which to me reads that they plop down cash. Are you presented with a receipt that you can add a tip to?
  5. Sorry that you are in this situation. Even if you had picked a category that can hold 4, you might not be able to add a fourth. it all depends on passenger counts. Likely as determined by your Muster station (or something like that). The maximum passenger capacity of the ship is less than the maximum birth capacity of all the rooms. Areas of the ship can reach capacity before the ship is sold out. Hate to say it, but the best bet, if you knew that this was a possibility from the start, would have been to book 4 people and then cancel one if she couldn't make it.
  6. I really, really hope so. While we love the Oasis class ships, and all the amenities, we are not the type to do the same ports over & over. Given a new itinerary, we'd certainly opt for an Oasis, or Quantum class over a smaller ship. That said, there are many itineraries out there that only a Radiance class ship or smaller can do. Arctic Circle, Iceland, Panama Canal, etc. There are so many ports out there that just can't handle larger ships. The dock at Honningsvag Norway was like 1/3 the length of Jewel.🤣 I think some of the South Pacific islands are banning ships larger than 2500 passengers now. Some itineraries are about the ship, others are about the ports. While we had no complaints about Jewel, were there things we missed, sure. Some things obviously wouldn't work, but some could. At some point, I feel that the Radiance class ships will need to be retired/sold, and I would definitely hope that RC replaces that class with a new class that can still do these itineraries. Obviously that can't have all the new amenities that the newer classes have, but there's room to add/change things. One reason may be fuel. I think I read something about Norway may look at limiting cruise ships in the fjords to those using alternative fuels. Something like that may force cruise lines to build new ships to continue to cruise there.
  7. Exactly! My 2 Rules of food service: Never piss off anyone that handles your food! Always make your bartender happy!
  8. We are usually very happy with our service, but I feel the whole thing has gotten out of control. I dread eating in the MD on the last night. I just want to rush my meal and GTFO. They crank the volume on the audio system and yell into it, causing very bad distortion. The cheerleading is a over the top and the parading goes on far too long. It really just turns me off. Honestly, it just of spoils the whole experience from the rest of the week for me.
  9. Some other related threads.
  10. Works fine as long as you take your hotspot with you😉. Likely a non-issue if using your phone as the hotspot
  11. Yes, you've posted in many threads how much of a curmudgeon you are. And how you actually exert effort to specifically spoil other people's harmless fun. If you don't want to play, ignore it. You've stated that you've seen crew members with bags of ducks that they are going to dispose of. So what? If Royal Caribbean wanted it to stop, they'd start saying something. It's not your job to police for ducks. You sound like the kind of person that if they were walking in a park, and a group of kids were playing ball and it rolled anywhere near you, you'd run over and grab the ball and throw it away, popping it if it was inflatable. Seriously. It's not bothering you. If you don't want to play along, ignore them. Why would you go out of your way to spoil other people's fun?
  12. We skip step 3. But love to re-hide
  13. Yep, there's already a 30 page thread on this where it's been discussed for the last 3+ weeks.
  14. Yep, there was a whole discussion back in January. I think they charge for it to minimize the mess. Can you image how much of that popcorn will be all over the theater floors if it was free? People that were barely interested would take some, whole families would each get their own, including the 2 & 3 years who will likely spill/drop it. etc.. If you charge for it, even this nominal amount, only the people that really want it will get it, and they'll largely be more careful with it.
  15. We did a 24-night B2B Arctic Circle, then Iceland & Ireland on Jewel last Summer. It was awesome! And Norway is absolutely stunning. Is there a reason you've eliminated the 12-night Arctic Circle cruises (there's 5)? If that's available to you, that would be my first pick. It's basically a Fjord cruise, but you go all the way up to Honningsvag where you can go to Nordcap. @little britain beat me to the 'Submit' button. If that one is out, then it's a hard choice, since the Fjord cruise is only 8 nights. If it was 12 nights, that would totally be my second choice (or first among the ones listed). But at 8 nights, that give's a lot more weight to either of the Iceland ones. So, a couple things to think about: I think I've seen some grumblings that Norway may look to limit cruise ships in the fjords (by mandating alternative fuels?), so you may want to get that done first just in case that happens. In our opinion, we were so impressed by Norway, that we wish we did Iceland first. Doing Norway first, Iceland sort of lost some of it's "wow!" factor. So if you'll ever go back to do "the other cruise", might want to save Norway? The 2 main Fjords are Geiranger & Flam. If you can schedule a cruise that hits both, plus Honningsvag, that's the trifecta in my book. If you can swing it, my highest recommendation would be to to the B2B. Arctic Circle with either Iceland itinerary.
  16. Sure, the mega ships are big, and there's a lot of passengers, but when you divide it out, there is more square feet of indoor space (not even including the outside decks here) per person on a "mega ship" than on a river cruise ship. Our favorite ships are the Royal Caribbean Oasis class ships. We love the shows, and amenity options. Sure, there can be 8800 people including passengers and crew, but there are just so many places they can all be spread out at. Will the very popular things have a crowd? Sure. But it's very easy to avoid the crowd if you want. Take the main theater shows. It's probably less crowded than if you were to go to a theater production on land. We don't go to the parades or the big promenade parties. We are not pool deck people. We've never had a problem finding a quite place to hang out when we've wanted to. The Oasis & Quantum class ships also have Suites only areas (restaurants, sundecks, etc) that can also enhance the crowd-less feel. Wonder (the newest Oasis class), even has the suites arranged in a new suites-only "neighborhood". We've also spent 24 days on a smaller Radiance class ship (2000-2400 passengers), it was a B2B doing Arctic Circle (Norway), and then Iceland & Ireland, and we have another one booked to do the Panama Canal next spring. These ships go places that the larger ships can't go. And while there are like 1/3 of the passengers, there's fewer venues for people to spread out at, so it honestly felt about the same to us. But again, plenty of space to avoid crowds when we wanted to. These ships are older & smaller and probably skew a bit older in passenger age then the newer, larger ships, so you're not going to get the rowdy crowd. Where it goes makes a difference also. A 3/4 night "booze cruise" in the Caribbean is going to have a much higher party vibe than a longer cruise. And the 12+ night ones are going to have an even more chill/relaxed and experienced group of passengers. In addition to the B2B I mentioned, we also did 7-night Western Mediterranean on an Oasis class. In no way was this a party cruise or had any rowdiness. To be honest, even when we have done a 3/4 night, while certainly having a higher percentage of partiers, we've never experienced a rowdy crowd on a Royal Caribbean ship. That all said, I'd still stay clear of Carnival. But we've also done 3 river cruises, and are leaving on AmaMagna here in a couple weeks. AmaMagna might be a little different, but from the others we have done, the lounge can honestly be just as packed as any bar/lounge we've been in on the larger ships. And while there's obviously far fewer amenities, it's all about ports. On a river cruise, when you're doing ports all day every day and moving to the next port down the river at night, the ship's not as important. On an ocean cruise, it's inevitable that you will have "sea days", and your port stays may not be as long since the distance from port to port can be significant. So the extra amenities/venues you get on larger ships can be very beneficial if you like to be entertained. If you just want to hang out on a balcony and read, then not so much.
  17. Yes. When you try to add a 5th device, it will warn you that there are already 4 devices, and ask if you want to continue. If you continue, it will bump one of the other 4 devices off. Not sure if anyone has determined a pattern as to which device will get bumped. Or you can actively log off using logoff.com (or something like that) on one device before joining with another.
  18. Will you be posting the updated version? I should have credited @DaKahuna for posting the Excel & PDF versions of your original list.
  19. Here's a good place to start: And in that thread, @John&LaLa posted a convenient check list!
  20. Yep, you missed it. General thread: One specifically on the kid's internet:
  21. Yes, people, even RC themselves (like here: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/crown-anchor-society/benefits/diamond-members), keep wanting to say "double points" for a suite, but that is doing a huge disservice to everyone. It's not "double", "double" implies multiplication. And while 1 + 1 = 1 x 2, 1 + 1 is correct, because as @twangster correctly points out, when you add Solo to the formula, it's all additive. 1 (base) + 1 (solo) + 1 (suite) = 3. Suites are not "double points", they are "an extra point", just like solo is "an extra point". The only time you got to multiply, was during the COVID "double points" promotion, and you got to do that at the end. (1 x 2) or ((1+1) x 2) or ((1+1+1) x 2). Before anyone got to actually sail, some solo bookings were wishful arguing for 8 per night. 1 + 1[solo]) x 2 (suite) x 2 (double points promo).
  22. Pretty much what @Rebel54 said. We were on AmaDante in July 2018. It was abnormally hot. I wore shorts most of the time, but I think I may have freshened up for dinner with cargo slacks and a short sleeve button down shirt most evenings. Largely because I had packed them and it was nice to just change from what I sweated in all day, but I don't think I needed to. Pretty sure there were men with shorts and polos, as well as a few that had jackets. This last December on a Grand Circle, I de-layered, but wore what I wore the rest of the day out on excursions to the Christmas markets. I think there was even less attention to attire than on the Ama one in 2018. Didn't see a single jacket on any men.
  23. We did AmaWaterway's Europe's Rivers & Castles in 2018. We were a 3 generation family of 9, early teens to 80's. There were 2 families larger than us and many other families. There were even a few kids younger than my niece. Everyone of all ages seemed to have a great time, and the crew didn't seem phased by the number of kids at all. This last December, we did a Christmas Markets cruise on Grand Circle (not my choice). my daughter couldn't make it, so there were only 8 of us. We were not the only multigeneration family group, but not like on the Ama cruise, but still, the crew said something about never having as many kids on one cruise before. My niece & nephew had a great time. And even though there weren't as many kids, and the average age of the passengers skewed quite a bit higher, as far as I know other families and kids had a good time also.
  24. @crzndeb beat me to the 'Submit Reply' button, but to add to the last part, every thread on here where it's come up, as long as they have the same mailing address, they should be able to link their accounts. I image that this might need to be done via the C&A phone #, and not the general one.
  25. According to @RCCL Fan, he was told that if he attempt to leave the ship with luggage, he would be stopped by (local?) authorities and not allowed to leave with the luggage. I can't imagine that if you attempted to explain that you will return that they would believe you.
