  1. Hi ! @Chrish2 Is the spreadsheet still being maintained ? Please add my link ! I only see one link for my dates from a non-active person on CC (only 1 post ever, which was their link)Fire & Sunset Soirees JANUARY 25-29, 2023 Scarlet Ladyhttps://virg.in/JSDR Jan 25 - 29 Jan 25-29 Jan 25th - 29th Jan 25th-29th 1-25-23 1/25/23 January 25 - 29 January 25-29 January 25th - 29th January 25th-29th
  2. haha, I know, sorry !! I started out just to ask why avoid deck 7 and then all the sudden I realized I had posted a novel. Yeh, new post is a good idea. My main problem is I can't decide what's more important ... close to elevators on a super convenient deck level or overlooking aqua/ziplines/rockclimb/people watching/while still having an ocean view. I've just learned about the "not-so-secret" deck that overlooks Aqua by the climbing wall on deck 7. So, one option is to book on deck 6 and then walk over to that deck for viewing. See, now here I am doing it again ! I'm basically typing up the thoughts as they go thru my head. hahahaha
  3. Don't be sorry @garycarla I would 10000% rather an old thread be revived and information be added to it, than a new thread started. It's a PITA when doing a search for something to get 100 threads, each with like 3 responses that I have to click on each thread individually. Personally, I'd much rather them all be in one thread. I was happy to see this thread and answer pop up. I learned something from your answer that I didn't know I didn't know. Party on Garth ! Excellent !
  4. (not to hijack this forum/thread) Thanks for the reply. 4*+ is probably right but I haven't cruised Virgin yet so can't confirm. 10*+++ for the food from every review and video I've watched, almost every one of them says 'best food I've ever had on any cruise'. I'm mapping out a plan to eat my way through the ship lol. : ) My friend picked the cruise for his 55th, it's all specialty restaurants included (there is no buffet and no MDR), also included gratuities, wifi, soda, even the arcade games, etc. Here's what he sent me that was the nail in the coffin for us to commit. This is soooo dang funny/cute. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Sc0VSFuRFE
  5. Who is it ? Mind sharing ? So curious ! Where do I go to signup to be your daughter ?!?! : ) Actually, you can convert to cash better and faster on craps. Example on $1000 $490 pass line $490 don't pass $20 on the 12 (pays 30:1 odds) 35/36 times you collect $980 (if a 12 doesn't roll) If 12 rolls, you will get $1000-$1110 depending on if they convert your FP chips to real chips or not after the 12 (yes convert = pick up the 20, the 600 win, and 490 dont pass=$1110 total). I do not know the answer to whether they convert it, I've never been lucky enough to get 12 on FP chips to find out. You can test this theory out at https://wizardofodds.com/play/craps/ or at https://wizardofodds.com/play/craps/v2 If they do NOT convert, you still pick up the dont pass, but you have to replay it as 240 pass, 240 dont pass, and 10 on the 12. 35/36 times you will collect $480 + the 620 you collected before=$1000 total If you don't get so much FP, here's $100 example: $49 pass $49 don't pass, $2 on 12 = $98-111 $50 pass $50 don't pass, $2 of real chips on 12 = $100-$2 real chips = $98-112
  6. Yikes !! Thanks SO much for letting me know. OK, so all the criteria and questions in the post above still apply, but cut down the cabins in consideration to 6250, 6288, 11727, 12727, and any other areas on the ship I should consider. Any pros/cons ?
  7. At the elevator banks, you cannot access them from both sides ? On the deck plans it looks like the hallway enters from both port and starboard. This is Harmony deck plans, aft set of elevators. Wondering if Allure was different and the deckplan was changed by the time they built Harmony ?
  8. This is hilarious. Did you make this ? Or, where did you find it ?
  9. On Carnival, even after they implemented this, you could still have twice/day service. There was a little form to fill out on the first day for your steward that had a checkbox for AM and one for PM, along with a few other questions. You could choose one time or both times AM & PM. I haven't cruised since Covid, so don't know how they handle it now. I believe most people would choose only one time and didn't realize you had the option to pick both.
  10. Why avoid deck 7, please ? First time ever on Royal. We're currently booked in 7314 on Harmony, but considering other cabins ... 6250, 6288, 7680, 7690, 11727, 12727. Any advice on cabin locations / best decks to choose or avoid ? 6250 is angled larger(?) balcony next to the hump and close to elevators. 7680 is closer to elevators than our current location, that was available a moment ago but is not currently showing up, 6288 or 7292/7690 are next closest that's still showing. On Harmony, which side can access the deck by the rock climbing wall that overlooks Aqua ... 7200-7300 side or 7600-7700 side ? 11727 and 12727 are both the 2nd regular balcony from the end/aft overlooking Aqua. About us ... from looking at the deck plans, it appears that most of the things we would be interested in ... casino, food, flowrider, aqua theater ... would be closest accessed by the aft set of elevators. I like to be "close" to the elevators when possible but at least a couple/few cabins away. The forward elevators we would be close to Royal theater, what else am I missing that is best accessed by the forward elevators ? We do like to participate in a lot of activities. I don't know yet what's available on Royal or where its usually held, but things like trivia, lectures, ice carving demo, dance / craft / cooking / towel folding / etc classes, we're pretty much up for anything. I almost never sit by the pool, and have never even gotten in a cruise ship pool or hottub, hubby will rarely sit by the pool for an hour or two. This cruise is for a balcony cabin of my pick (no suite). We have stayed in balcony cabins before, and are 100% fine with not having oceanview balcony. But maybe(??) would use it more if it was larger? In fact, the Boardwalk view balconies all the way aft are intriguing to us for watching aqua theater, people watching, and still having an ocean view out the aft. We typically leave the cabin in the morning and don't come back until the wee hours of the night, except to change. We do like to sleep in a little later like 8-9am so that's a plus for Boardwalk view that might be slightly darker. edit: haha, I shouldn't have jumped onto this thread with my question. I was only going to ask why avoid deck 7. I don't know what happened, I just started pouring out all my thoughts. LOL
  11. EXACTLY what I've been saying. Never leaving or returning to the same country, and especially your example that isn't even cruising from the USA is NOT a closed-loop cruise. Seabourn ALSO does NOT require a passport for closed-loop cruises. Seriously, I don't understand why I am getting so much push-back from people about this. If people would please re-read the first post they will see that I posted this so folks are not surprised if they get to Miami and Virgin asks for a passport that they did not bring or do not have. This was posted as a .... This is just a PSA / FYI .... (public service announcement / for your information) Passports are required to sail on Virgin Voyages, even for US citizens. I know many people routinely sail without a passport on other cruiselines (myself included), so this may come as a surprise when booking Virgin. This is Virgin's own personal rule, it is not a USA requirement.
  12. Solution: cruise Virgin Voyages and leave the kids behind ! ok, even if you don't do that, watch this commercial ... freaking hilarious
  13. WOW !! I have only been on 8 cruises from 2006-2018 (break since 2018 because of sick kitty + stupid covid) and I have LITERALLY NEVER cruised with a passport. When I check a bunch of cruiseline's websites, they all say you can cruise without a passport, except for Virgin (I checked a bunch but not all cruiselines). I don't even have a passport, although it is on order for my Virgin cruise because Virgin requires them ...... .
  14. @WheresWalter's food video is really really good. I'll see if I can find the link, unless he beats me to it. I watched it a couple weeks ago, so might be hard to find in my history.
  15. THANKS SO MUCH for the info !!!! In that case, I will not be buying any sailor loot in advance. I was hoping to do it to avoid having to bring cash. Related question: can sailor loot be used in the casino ?
  16. Is sailor loot that I call and purchase refunded if I don't use it all ?
  17. Is the craps layout on Carnival ships still Don't Pass Bar 12 ? Please reply with cruiseline & ship you've seen layouts on. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they quietly changed the layouts to Bar 3, after what they've been doing to the Blackjack and Roulette tables. edit: to include Virgin Voyages and Royal Caribbean in the title Feel free to include info on any other lines you know about.
  18. Put us also in the tuxedo and full-length gown or very dressy cocktail both formal nights every cruise. On regular nights he wears slacks and button-down or polo style shirt, I wear a more casual dress, or skirt and dressy top for regular night dinners. He has actually gotten a lot of use out of the tux over the years, and it wasn't even all on cruises. We really like the opportunity to dress up, we don't get to very often at all. Hubby bought his tux at JCPenney. I don't remember how much it was but it was definitely well under $200. In 2018 they had a coupon (2bigsale) that made the full tux with shirt tie cummerbund buttons cufflinks slacks jacket for $119 (friend's hubby bought one for our Dec 2018 cruise). Bonus about the tux if you cruise at least yearly ... he takes it out at least a month or two before each cruise to make sure it still fits . If not, that's his catalyst to get back into tux fitting shape. 😂
  19. This theory made me think of something ... has his cell phone been found ?
  20. $90 per person ? Or $45 x 2 ? Thanks in advance !
  21. Me too ! I never feel like its safe carrying a bunch of cash. Gift cards work, I don't know if VV has gift cards yet ? Can't think of any other options really.
  22. Good to know ! I didn't know there was no fee if you booked thru URComped. I can verify this is true.
  23. THANK YOU !!!! Super helpful. ❤️ By chance did you take a pic of the bathroom ? I'm guessing it looks like 2nd pic in post #6 in this thread ? @bguppies yes please ! If anyone has any different dimensions or from other Carnival ships, please post !! (or from other cruiselines)
